Abstract

Learning mathematics must experience changes in the context of improving the quality of education to improve optimal learning outcomes. Therefore, efforts continue to be made to realize innovative learning following the times and technology. In addition to harmonizing education with technological advances, education is also expected to build the values ​​and character of each student through local culture and religious values. The integration of mathematics with Islamic values ​​and local cultural wisdom developed through exploratory literature. This paper presents the idea of ​​formulating a method for integrating mathematics with local culture and integrating mathematics with religious values. This integration aims to make students more familiar with local cultures and motivate them to learn mathematics. The integration of mathematics with religious values ​​seeks to provide an overview of the interpretation of several verses of the Qur'an related to faith, which are then integrated into discussions in mathematics.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya (Etnomatematika) menjadi salah satu metode belajar   matematika melalui budaya kearifan lokal di masyarakat. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan objek-objek geometri matematika yang ada pada bangunan Masjid Agung Kota Probolinggo yang merupakan salah satu masjid terbesar di Kota Probolinggo. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan etnografi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara metode observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan arsitektur yang dimiliki masjid Agung Kota Probolinggo memiliki etnomatematika yang berkaitan dengan konsep geometri matematika meliputi segitiga, segienam, persegi, persegi panjang, lingkaran, balok dan tabung.

Abstract

Mathematics has an important role in solving problems in everyday life. Mathematics continues to develop periodically following the difficulties encountered from various cultural backgrounds. Ethnomathematics has the aim of connecting mathematics with culture, ethnomathematics can be a link between mathematics that has been learned at school and mathematics that exists outside of school, therefore researchers are interested in observing shallot farmers to get information related to mathematical concepts used in every activity on their farm. Qualitative research through an ethnographic approach is suitable for this research because researchers seek information directly based on the description and analysis of culture in the community. The results of the research found many mathematical concepts in the activities of farmers in Banyuanyar village such as the concepts of addition, multiplication, profit sharing system, fraction multiplication, worth comparison, block area and others. With this research, hopefully it can help teachers in explaining to students about mathematics with real examples in the surrounding environment, and for further researchers it can be a reference and explore more mathematical concepts around through existing cultural culture.Keywords: ethnomathematics; farmers; shallots

Abstract

Mathematics is a scientific discipline that deals with quantities, various forms, and concepts, not only having internal relations but also being connected to various fields, including culture. This research explores the concept of ethnomathematics at Papuma Beach, highlighting the interaction of mathematics with local culture. Ethnomathematics, the study of mathematical concepts in cultural contexts, is applied to the design and objects of Papuma Beach. Previously considered neutral, mathematics is now recognized as connected to culture and daily life. This study indicates that Papuma Beach is not just a tourist destination but also a reflection of mathematical values in community activities. The application of ethnomathematics in learning can enrich the material with cultural relevance for students. The focus of this research is the exploration of mathematical concepts in the design of Papuma Beach, with an emphasis on geometric patterns and mathematical proportions in coral rocks and surrounding objects. The research method used is a qualitative approach through ethnographic methods. Observation and documentation are the data collected in this research. Data analysis involves reduction, presentation, and interpretation of data. The results show that Papuma Beach, besides being a vacation spot, also depicts mathematical values in everyday life. This research provides a unique perspective on the interconnection between mathematics, culture, and architecture at Papuma Beach.. Keywords:  Culture, Papuma Beach, Geometry

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subject areas taught from elementary school to high school and even to universities. Mathematics is also one of the subjects that is considered difficult by many students, but mathematics is very important in improving human thinking and this science also plays a very important role in everyday life. Through this ethnomathematics exploration, students will find it easier and more enjoyable to learn mathematics from the Qur’an. Mathematics has a close relationship with the Qur’an without us realizing it, such as odd numbers, even numbers, and prime numbers listed in surah Al-kahf verse 22, verse 25, Al-ankabut verse 14, Al-baqarah verse 261, and annisa’ verse 11-12. The purpose of this research is to describe and elaborate mathematics learning in number theory contained in the Qur’an. The method in this research is using qualitative method which is done by observation and literature study. From this research, it is known that there is a relationship between the words of God contained in the Qur’an and the concept of mathematics, and it is proven that always math lessons can solve all problems in Islam. This research is expected to facilitate the learning of mathematics and can show that there is a connection with the Qur’an. Thus later mathematics lessons are not only as ordinary subjects, but can also be seen in religion, so the researcher took the title Exploration of Ethnomathematics in the Qur’an as a learning resource.Keywords: exploration, ethnomathematics, Qur’an

Abstract

There is a lot of cultural diversity in Indonesia, one of which is the art of the Songo Kelabang Patrol Music in Probolinggo, reflecting local cultural values. Education and culture are interrelated, and to preserve this art, an ethnomathematics approach is used to explore the relationship between culture, environment, and mathematics. This research aims to introduce and preserve this art through ethnomathematics as a mathematics learning medium, provide new insight into local culture, and create potential as a mathematics learning medium inside and outside the classroom. This qualitative research uses observation and literature study as data collection techniques. The results show that there are mathematical elements in the design of the Kelabang Songo Patrol transport cart and musical instruments, such as gongs, demands, genders, drums, and tong tongs. This connection can be used as an alternative mathematics learning media, especially in the context of geometry. This research is expected to provide benefits for students and educators, with suggestions for further research exploring aspects of musical rhythm and other activities as a means of student learning.Keywords: Ethnomathematics; Songo Centipede; Geometry

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using PowerPoint media in enhancing the geometric thinking skills of 6th-grade students, particularly in understanding the concepts of area, perimeter, and volume of solid figures. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest design) at MI Nazhatut Tholibin, Probolinggo Regency. The research subjects consist of 20 students divided into two groups: the experimental group using PowerPoint and the control group using conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, interviews, and observations. The results of the study show that the use of PowerPoint significantly improved the students' learning outcomes. Statistical tests indicate that the data is normally distributed and the variance between groups is homogeneous. The Independent Sample t-Test results show a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). The posttest average score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group, indicating the effectiveness of PowerPoint in helping students understand geometry. This study concludes that PowerPoint can be an effective alternative in mathematics learning, particularly in solid figures.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, keterlibatan, dan implementasi ajaran agama Islam di lingkungan STAI Muhammadiyah Probolinggo. Penelitian ini fokus pada upaya penguatan kembali nilai-nilai keagamaan bagi mahasiswa dan mengidentifikasi faktor pendukung dan penghambat revitalisasi nilai religiusitas. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan observasi untuk memahami secara mendalam konteks, tantangan, dan strategi yang digunakan dalam revitalisasi nilai religiusitas mahasiswa. Temuan penelitian mencerminkan adanya tiga dimensi religiusitas, yaitu Aqidah, Ibadah, dan Muamalah, dengan strategi penerapan Uswah Hasanah dan Pembinaan Karakter Islami yang berkelanjutan. Dalam proses pembelajaran al-Islam dan Kemuhammadiyahan, dibangun sikap inklusif (Wasathiyah), toleran, dan progresif, yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan dimensi spiritual mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman tentang urgensi integritas agama dalam pembentukan karakter Islami mahasiswa dalam membangun masyarakat yang berkeadaban. Selain itu, implikasi dari penelitian ini dapat menjadi panduan bagi lembaga pendidikan, terutama perguruan tinggi keagamaan Islam dalam merancang program-program yang mendukung proses revitalisasi nilai religiusitas mahasiswa secara efektif. Implikasi penelitian ini adalah: 1) Kurikulum berkembang dengan baik, 2) Melakukan pelatihan para dosen, 3) Pengembangan program kegiatan mahasiswa, 4) Pelatihan lanjutan tentang dampak religious, 5) Jalinan kolaborasi dengan lembaga kemuhammadiyahan, 6) Pengembangan materi pembelajaran berbasis teknologi.

Abstract

Jurnal ini membahas masalah yang dihadapi siswa saat menyelesaikan soal-soal yang berkaitan dengan fungsi komposisi. 35 siswa dari kelas XI SMA Negeri 3 Probolinggo yang dipilih secara acak untuk menjadi subjek penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif, dan datanya terdiri dari informasi tentang tantangan yang dihadapi siswa. Selain itu, persentase digunakan untuk menunjukkan tingkat kesulitan berdasarkan jenis tantangan. Untuk mengumpulkan data, dilakukan wawancara dan tes uraian sebanyak enam soal untuk memverifikasi masalah dan faktor penyebabnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tiga komponen matematika yang memengaruhi kesulitan siswa saat pengoprasian, pemahaman, konsep. Persentase kesulitan ini disaaat memahami konsep adalah 36%, yang tergolong rendah; kesulitan dalam memahami konsep soal tersebut adalah 37%, yang juga tergolong rendah; dan kesulitan dalam operasi adalah 27%, yang juga tergolong rendah. Terdapat dua jenis faktor yang memengaruhi kesulitan siswa. Yang pertama adalah faktor internal dari siswa itu sendiri, yang mencakup aspek intelektual, kesehatan, emosional, minat, dan konsentrasi belajar; yang kedua adalah faktor eksternal, yang mencakup metode pengajaran guru serta faktor sosial dan ekonomi dari orang tua.
