Abstract

Dendrobium is the second-largest family of flowering plants in the world. There are several classes of Dendrobium, which usually identify by its, including leaves and flowers. Due to the similarity of its characteristics, identifying orchid types is complicated and usually can only be done by an expert. Moreover, those characteristics are typically non-deterministic; examining the orchid species is very challenging. This research aims to develop a novel fuzzy-based system to identify the species of orchid based on unprecise existing leaf characteristics. We used the main characteristics of Dendrobium leaves, including shape, length, width, and tips of the leaves. Based on the information from the expert, we develop the membership for each class of Dendrobium. By adopting this knowledge, we develop the system by using compatible programming with this case, and Borland Delphi as complex application development. The experiment is done by using 200 real datasets from the Liwa Botanical Gardens, West Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, Indonesia. The results are compared with those given by a Dendrobium expert. A confusion matrix is a valuable evaluation tool for measuring the performance of classification models. From the above results, we can determine the confusion matrix and calculate the TP (True Positive), TN (True Negative), FP (False Positive), and FN (False Negative). The confusion matrix given from the experiments is shown in Table 6. This indicates that the system can provide the same results as experts recommended. It is shown that the system can identify orchid types with an accuracy value of 94,6 %.  Thus, this system will be beneficial for automatically determining the orchid genus.

Abstract

The number of vehicle usage, especially motorcycles, in Indonesia has significantly increased in the past 10 years, particularly among young people. This has had an impact on the declining air quality in public places, including on campus grounds. PM2.5, as one of the hazardous pollutants to health, needs to be given special attention regarding its dispersion concentration in areas heavily frequented by the public, such as parking lots on campus. This study analyzes the level of PM2.5 concentration in the campus parking lots at Universitas Lampung, with the aim of observing the pattern of PM2.5 pollution in the campus area, considering the increasing number of motorcycles entering the campus every year. The measurement of PM2.5 levels was conducted using a light scattering sensor in two parking lots with different microenvironments, and then its correlation with motorcycle activities at each location was analyzed using simple regression. Based on statistical analysis, it was found that the differences in microenvironments affect PM2.5 levels significantly. The number of motorcycle activities also has a positive correlation with the level of PM2.5, where the average PM2.5 concentration recorded has exceeded the threshold set by the government, which is 15 µg/m3 per day. However, the effect of the microenvironment in this study is stronger than the number of vehicles. Therefore, in the future, appropriate policies and strategies are needed to reduce PM2.5 concentrations in public areas, especially on campuses, to prevent the associated risks of the pollution.

Abstract

Substituting diesel technology with eco-technologies in public buses is one of the prominent efforts being made to achieve a sustainable transportation system goal. Among these eco-technologies, commonly used ones include electric vehicles, natural gas fuel, hydrogen fuel, and bio-diesel fuel technology. However, the performance comparison between these technologies in reducing environmental impact at each location where they are implemented remains unanswered by previous studies. Research to measure the effectiveness of each of the eco-technologies in reducing environmental issues has been conducted extensively, employing various methods and metrics. This study conducted a systematic review of 94 articles that met the predefined inclusion criteria to obtain performance comparisons among these technologies. As a result, a general trend has been observed that eco-technologies have successfully achieved their intended goals with various success rates, although electric bus technology has advantages over other technologies based on the articles. However, its effectiveness relies on specific aspects to optimize its environmental performance. Therefore, the suitability of implementation in a region will depend on many factors. This article contributes to determining the extent to which eco-technologies are implemented in buses worldwide, serving as a consideration for decision-makers, and identifying research gaps in this topic.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan anggota Karang Taruna di Pekon Sukabaru, Kecamatan Way Krui, Kabupaten Pesisir Barat, Provinsi Lampung, dalam mempromosikan pariwisata lokal melalui media sosial. Pelatihan ini difokuskan pada penggunaan aplikasi Canva dan CapCut sebagai alat bantu untuk membuat konten visual dan video yang menarik. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sesi pre-test lisan, penyampaian materi, praktik langsung, dan post-test lisan untuk mengevaluasi peningkatan keterampilan peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta mengenai pembuatan konten digital. Sebanyak 65% peserta mampu menghasilkan poster dan video yang siap digunakan untuk promosi wisata. Selain itu, peserta juga menunjukkan antusiasme dan komitmen untuk mengaplikasikan keterampilan yang diperoleh dalam memajukan pariwisata daerah. Kesimpulannya, pelatihan ini berhasil memberdayakan komunitas lokal dalam meningkatkan daya tarik wisata melalui media sosial, serta berpotensi memperkuat perekonomian lokal. Disarankan agar pelatihan lanjutan dan kolaborasi dengan pemerintah daerah dilakukan untuk mendukung keberlanjutan program ini.

Abstract

Rumah ibadah memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia, dengan masjid sebagai rumah ibadah terbanyak karena mayoritas penduduk beragama Islam. Di Desa Rukti Endah, sekitar 92% penduduknya beragama Islam. Rumah ibadah membutuhkan listrik untuk penerangan, sistem suara, dan kipas angin. Ketergantungan pada listrik utama sering menjadi kendala, terutama saat pemadaman, yang dapat mengganggu aktivitas ibadah. Pengabdian ini bertujuan mengimplementasikan energi terbarukan melalui Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya (PLTS) skala kecil sebagai sumber energi cadangan rumah ibadah. Penerapan PLTS mendukung keberlanjutan dan sejalan dengan Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya SDG 7 (energi bersih dan terjangkau) serta SDG 13 (aksi iklim). Dengan teknologi ini, rumah ibadah dapat lebih mandiri energi dan ramah lingkungan. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini menyediakan lokasi uji coba pemasangan PLTS di masjid. Pengurus masjid diberikan pelatihan pemasangan, pemeliharaan, dan penghitungan kebutuhan energi agar sistem PLTS bekerja optimal. Diharapkan pengurus masjid dapat menerapkan teknologi ini di masjid lain, memperluas manfaat energi berkelanjutan di Desa Rukti Endah.

Abstract

The potential of seawater as a source of galvanic cell energy has not been fully realized due to significant challenges, particularly anode degradation in single-compartment high-power seawater batteries. This study addresses these limitations by introducing a novel two-compartment system, utilizing an acid zinc anolyte and an alumina-carbon-cement separator designed to enhance both the electrical performance and longevity of the battery. Experimental results demonstrate a remarkable increase in current output (97.81 times) and a substantial boost in power (5.25 times) compared to conventional single-compartment cells. Furthermore, the internal resistance of the system is reduced by 95.7%, indicating improved energy transfer efficiency. The use of the alumina-carbon-cement separator effectively mitigates anode corrosion, a common issue that limits the operational lifespan and reliability of seawater batteries. These findings suggest that the proposed two-compartment configuration not only overcomes critical technical barriers but also offers a promising and sustainable alternative for renewable energy generation from seawater. The enhanced performance and durability of this system highlight its potential for practical applications in marine and coastal energy harvesting, contributing to the advancement of clean energy technologies.

Abstract

Weather forecasts are important information for various agencies and the wider community. Weather forecasts are usually used to benefit various sectors such as transportation, tourism, plantations and others. This study aims to create a new model regarding weather forecasting using the random forest and C4.5 algorithms using the WEKA application. The dataset uses data from the Panjang Maritime Meteorological Station with 365 days of data and six attributes: rain intensity, average temperature, humidity, rainfall, sunshine duration and average wind speed. The results obtained from this study between the random forest algorithm and C4.5, namely cross-validation trials fold 5, 10 and 15 random forests, have better results than C4.5 by using the MAE and RMSE evaluation values, then in testing with a percentage split 25% on the evaluation of the MAE value is better at C4.5. Still, the random forest has better results for all experiments evaluating the RMSE value and two evaluations of the MAE value.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) bagi Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Congkel Jaya Desa Maja, Kalianda Lampung Selatan telah dilakukan melalui penerapan karya dosen berupa teknologi tepat guna mesin terintegrasi perebus (sistem multi-layer)-pengering (sistem hybrid). Tujuannya untuk mengatasi permasalahan mitra dalam proses pengolahan ikan asin, yaitu proses perebusan ikan yang tidak efisien dan ekonomis, serta proses pengeringan ikan yang tidak higenis dan lama. Dengan penerapan teknologi ini, mitra dapat menghasilkan produk ikan asin dan olahan ikan lainnya yang higienis dan berkualitas, sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan mitra. Tulisan ini membahas tentang pengujian unjuk kerja mesin terintegrasi itu untuk mengeringkan ikan teri asin. Pengujian ini menggunakan tiga sumber panas, yaitu sinar matahari, sinar matahari berbantuan pemanas bola lampu, serta berbantuan pemanas keramik infrared. Ikan teri asin hasil pengeringan juga diuji mutunya dengan metode Proksimat lengkap (uji laboratorium). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa pengeringan ikan teri dengan sumber panas sinar matahari berbantuan pemanas keramik infrared menghasilkan waktu tercepat untuk mencapai nilai kadar air yang sesuai standar SNI (≤40%) dan kebiasaan mitra, yaitu sekitar 2 jam. Waktu pengeringan itu jauh lebih cepat jika dibandingkan dengan waktu pengeringan ikan teri dengan proses pengeringan tradisional, yaitu sekitar 4 jam. Dari pengujian laboratorium, ikan teri asin hasil pengeringan dapat diketahui mutunya, yaitu nilai kadar air sebesar 29,93% (memenuhi mutu standar SNI, ≤40%), (2) nilai kadar lemak adalah 51,31%, (3) nilai kadar protein adalah adalah 14,46%, (4) nilai kadar abu atau mineral adalah 3,19%, dan (5) nilai kadar karbohidrat adalah 0,39%. Bagaimanapun, pengujian lebih lanjut menyangkut keamanan pangan (food security) perlu dilakukan, seperti pengujian bahan berbahaya (formalin/boraks) dan toksisitas. Kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat ini juga dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan kinerja Universitas Lampung, khususnya Indikator Kinerja Utama (IKU), melalui penerapan karya dosen di masyarakat dan pengalaman pembelajaran di luar kampus bagi mahasiswa.
