Abstract

The study of Economics, particularly taxation, is often perceived as difficult because it requires an understanding of abstract concepts and technical calculation skills. Conventional teacher-centered instructional models tend to limit students' opportunities to build their own understanding actively. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the flipped classroom (FC) model in improving student learning outcomes in Taxation. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest was used in this research. The sample consisted of 68 eleventh-grade students at XYZ Public High School in North Sulawesi, divided into an experimental group (FC) and a control group (traditional learning). Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using ANCOVA, effect size, and N-Gain scores. The ANCOVA results, controlling for pretest scores, showed that the flipped classroom model led to better learning outcomes compared to traditional instruction. The FC model effectively strengthened students' cognitive abilities and practical skills through independent and collaborative learning activities. Practically, teachers need to prepare engaging digital content and contextual assignments so that the flipped classroom can serve as a relevant strategy to enhance the quality of Economics education at the senior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital literacy of economics teachers in several public high schools in Minahasa Regency. The main informants in this study were 11 economics teachers, plus supporting informants consisting of 3 students and 3 school principals. The data analysis technique used was the interactive analysis model by Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This study used a qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews. First, most economics teachers have a positive perception of digital technology, viewing it as an effective tool for improving material delivery, facilitating access to information, and making learning more engaging for students. This is evident in the use of digital media, including interactive presentations, instructional videos, and online learning platforms. Second, teachers' digital pedagogical practices have largely been implemented, albeit at a basic level, such as delivering material, assigning work, and evaluating through digital platforms. The use of digital technology still needs improvement to make learning more innovative, interactive, and student-centered. Third, teachers face obstacles such as limited technical skills, technological facilities, and a lack of training that supports digital literacy. Overall, the digital literacy of economics teachers at the research site has begun to develop, but still requires improvement through training programs, facility support, and school policies that support the use of digital technology in learning.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education drives a paradigm shift toward Education 5.0, integrating technology and human values in learning. Economics teachers are required not only to use technology but also to integrate it pedagogically and reflectively. This study aims to analyze economics teachers' digital literacy characteristics, identify reflective practices in technology integration, and uncover supporting and inhibiting factors for digital teacher transformation in high schools in Minahasa Regency. This qualitative study used an exploratory case study design. Informants were selected purposively involving economics teachers and principals. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through thematic coding. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and member checking. The results indicate that teachers' digital literacy has diverse characteristics. Reflective practice plays an important role in evaluating and developing technology-based learning. Digital teacher transformation is influenced by supporting factors (school support, professional collaboration, and digital self-efficacy) and inhibiting factors (technostress, intergenerational digital divide, and technically oriented training). This study shows that teacher digital transformation is a multidimensional process influenced by individual, social, and institutional factors in supporting adaptive learning based on Education 5.0.

Abstract

This study explores the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing students’ learning motivation at SMP Advent Tondano. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, interviews were conducted with five informants, including the Principal, two teachers, and two students, to examine the implementation, benefits, and challenges of AI-based learning. The findings indicate that AI contributes positively to students’ motivation by providing interactive, adaptive, and personalized learning experiences. Features such as real-time feedback, adaptive practice modules, and personalized materials foster greater engagement, curiosity, and independent learning. Both teachers and students highlighted that AI makes learning more enjoyable, challenging, and efficient. However, challenges such as limited devices, unstable internet connections, and varying digital literacy require strategic interventions, including teacher guidance and training. The study concludes that AI, when effectively integrated into classroom instruction, has significant potential to improve learning motivation and outcomes.
