Introduction: Patient satisfaction is like many other psychological concepts, it is easy to understand but hard to define. The concept of satisfaction overlaps with similar themes such as happiness, contentment, and quality of life. A simple and practical definition of satisfaction would be the degree to which desired goals have been achieved. Methods: The type of this research is descriptive with survey methode. Data is collected through questionnaire with the total sample of 150 respondents. The study population was based on accidental sampling, by which the sample was selected depending on who came to Orthodontic Department of RSGM FKG UNPAD, Bandung by the researcher during the period of the research. Results: The data is then analyzed using Community Satisfaction Index (Indeks Kepuasan Masyarakat) or IKM that which shows that 13 out of 14 indicators are still in B grade and overall IKM value of 7.90%, which means that the level of satisfaction has yet not met the expectation among removable appliances patients in Orthodontic Department of RSGM FKG UNPAD, Bandung. Conclusion: The level of satisfaction among removable appliances patients 0rthodontic are still have not met the patients’ expectation.

Abstract

Introduction: Bite marks between humans and dogs have a similar appearance and it becomes a challenge study for the dentist and forensic odontologists to discern between them. Intercanine distance (ICD) is one of the parameters to identify the biter species in humans and animals. The aim of this study was to analyse the differences of the ICD between humans and dogs. Methods: The analytical study design was done by measuring the ICD of bite marks in 65 humans and 22 dogs selected by purposive non-random sampling method with the inclusion criteria for human samples, students of Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Padjadjaran between 18 to 28 years old, canine occlusal relationship class I, presence of both intact canine teeth in each jaw, normal overjet and no diastema at the anterior teeth; and for dog samples, mesaticephalic skull shaped, having four intact canine teeth, and located across animal centres in Bandung. The gender and dental arch shape in humans and dogs were excluded. Human bite registrations were taken using wax pieces, while dog anterior teeth impressions were taken which were then casted with dental stone. The ICD was then measured using a digital vernier caliper with 0.01 mm resolution. The inter- and intra-observer variability calibrations were done before the sample measurements. The Mann-Whitney U statistical analysis was done to determine the significance between ICD of humans and dogs (p<0.05). Ethical clearance (No.1225/UN6.KEP/EC/2018) was obtained for both groups prior research study. Results: The statistical analytic showed, (p=0.0002) between humans and small and large sized dogs; (p=0.5093) for medium sized dogs in the maxillary. In the mandibula, showed (p=0.0002) between humans and small and large sized dogs; (p=0.0003) for medium sized dogs. Conclusion: The ICD analysed in this study were concluded to be different between humans and dogs (all sizes) in mandibular, humans and dogs (small and large sized) in maxillary. Conversely, the ICD between humans and medium sized dogs in maxillary were similar.

Abstract

KATA KUNCI: Pengetahuan, radiodiagnosis, dokter gigi umum, lesi lusen, radiografi panoramikGeneral Dentist's knowledge in determining radiodiagnosis of lucent lesions through panoramic radiography: Study descriptiveABSTRACT Introduction: Radiology in dentistry plays an important role in diagnosis and treatment planning through radiographic examinations, such as panoramic radiography which provides a broad view of the bone and tooth structure. Mistakes in radiographic interpretation can lead to misdiagnosis, as shown by previous study which found a high percentage of misdiagnosis by practitioners. The aim of this study was to determine whether general dentists were able to interpret properly and correctly. Methods: This type of research was descriptive with a convenience sampling technique. The study was conducted on 96 general dentists using an instrument in the form of a questionnaire with 15 questions. Results: Based on the distribution of respondents, the majority were women domiciled outside the city of Bandung, most of whom worked in independent clinics (24,8%) and hospitals (21,4%). A total of 57 respondents (59,4%) were at the level of knowledge with a good category, then 36 people (37,5%) were in the sufficient category, and 3 people (3,1%) were in the less category; (4) Conclusions: The level of knowledge of general dentists in identifying the characteristics of lucent lesions is classified as good, but the ability to determine radiodiagnosis and differential radiodiagnosis is still lacking. Overall, the results of the study showed that the level of general dentists’ knowledge is categorized as adequate, with an average score of 10,8.KEY WORDS: Knowledge, radiodiagnosis, general dentist, lucent lesions, panoramic radiography
