Abstract

Mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue fever, Zika, and malaria pose significant health threats in Indonesia, particularly in tropical areas like Gedangan Village, Jombang Regency. To reduce the risk of disease transmission, students of the Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jawa Timur utilized lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) as the main ingredient in the production of mosquito repellent spray. This program aims to provide a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative compared to chemical-based products. The training and socialization conducted in Gedangan Village increased the community's understanding of the benefits of lemongrass and how to produce natural mosquito repellent spray. The results of this program show that lemongrass-based spray is effective as a mosquito repellent and can be a long-term solution in reducing dependence on chemical insecticides. The sustainability of this program is expected to be expanded to other villages, with support from the government and related institutions to strengthen its positive impact on public health and the environment.

Abstract

Bullying has long been a part of school life and is an issue that has a negative impact on children's growth and development. This research aims to increase awareness about bullying through outreach carried out at SD Negeri Gondek, Jombang, East Java. This socialization was carried out in the context of the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) program to provide education to class IV and V students about the dangers of bullying and the importance of creating a safe school environment. The results of the socialization show that students' understanding of bullying has increased significantly, whereas previously most students were not aware of the impact of this action. This program was successful in changing students' perceptions and encouraging their active participation in preventing bullying at school. The success of this initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between schools, teachers, parents and students in ongoing efforts to create inclusive and safe environments. Regular evaluation and further development of supporting programs is highly recommended to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of this program.

Abstract

Musuh Masyarakat podcast is a comedy podcast accessible through application called NOICE. The type of comedy featured in featured in this podcast is satire comedy. Satire comedy is a form of humor that includes sarcasm directed toward a subject by representing its flaws or mistakes. Satire comedy is a means of conveying social criticism that is considered to minimize the occurrence of offense. Satire comedy in this podcast is intended to provide constructive criticism and facilitate beneficial discussion. However, satirical comedy employs figurative expression and contains irony that can be interpreted freely by the audience. This can lead to misunderstandings that may result in offense. The purpose of this study is to determine how Generation Z accept satire comedy on the episode 109 of Musuh Masyarakat podcast "Pejabat Tidak Perlu Ramah". The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used are in-depth interviews and documentation. This research uses Stuart Hall's Encoding-Decoding reception analysis model. The results show that the reception among informants varied, but there were no informants who completely rejected that satire comedy is a means of conveying social criticism that can minimize offense, provide constructive criticism, and provide a space for beneficial discussion. Factors of life experience, culture and religious beliefs influence the variety of meanings and acceptance of informants.

Abstract

MSMEs or Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are one of the factors that help improve the economy in Indonesia, both the micro and macro economy. Currently, there are many people who have MSMEs with various kinds of creative products that are sold. However, the development of MSMEs has experienced several obstacles, one of which is the lack of knowledge of MSME actors in utilizing information and communication technology that has developed, such as lack of knowledge about product branding. Branding is an attempt to produce an impression that attracts consumers. Lack of branding efforts can make MSME products less competitive in the market. For this reason, in an effort to develop MSMEs in Bulak Banteng through a digital-based branding strategy, this community service activity is carried out in several stages, namely counseling, training and mentoring, and the last stages is evaluation. From this activity, it is known that several MSMEs, namely Rumah Batik Jawa Timur, Mie Ramingkem, Pawone Mamiku, and UMKM Sumberejo have understood how important branding is for a product, this can be seen from the use of social media which has been better than before

Abstract

Waste management is one of the main challenges in Latsari Village, Jombang, East Java, which has an impact on environmental cleanliness and public health. This research aims to develop innovations in making waste cans from used gallons as a practical and sustainable solution for waste management in the village. The method used involves collecting used gallons, designing functional garbage cans, and socializing to the community regarding the importance of waste sorting. The results of the study show that the waste cans from used gallons are able to increase public awareness of the importance of environmental cleanliness and reduce the volume of scattered waste. In addition, this initiative also provides added value through the use of plastic waste that was previously not used. In conclusion, this innovation is not only effective in improving waste management in Latsari Village, but also has a positive impact on the environment and society. The broader implementation of this program has the potential to be a model that can be applied in other regions with similar challenges.

Abstract

Biobriquettes are solid alternative fuels in the form of biochar made from carbon materials, with high calorific value content and long combustion power. This activity was c arried out by a group of students who adjusted the production process to field problems, including socialization and training in making charcoal briquettes from rice husks in Latsari Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency. The researcher carried out direct observation in Latsari Village to understand the situation and problems they faced, especially in the field of rice fields. Biobriquettes made from organic waste with additional adhesives offer a more sustainable and economical alternative to firewood. The introduction and training program activities for making charcoal briquettes from rice husks were successfully carried out in Latsari village in line with the plans and targets that have been set. Through this activity, rural communities can utilize rice husk waste to produce products that not only reduce pollution but also increase income.

Abstract

Pembelajaran dan penanaman karakter yang bermuatan nilai-nilai Bela Negara perlu dilakukan sejak dini, dimulai dari usia 5 tahun atau usia pra sekolah. Pendidikan karakter bagi anak usia dini dimaksudkan untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai kebaikan agar dapat menjadi kebiasaan baik ketika kelak anak dewasa atau pada jenjang pendidikan selanjutnya. Permasalahan yang dihadapi saat ini adalah kurangnya pengetahuan anak-anak tentang nilai-nilai bela negara dan kurangnya pengetahuan mereka tentang kesenian wayang. Oleh karena itu diperlukan sebuah penyuluhan tentang nilai-nilai bela negara kepada anak Taman Kanak-Kanak dengan cara sederhana, menarik dan atraktif yaitu melalui storytelling menggunakan media wayang. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk menambah wawasan dan pengetahuan anak-anak tentang nilai-nilai bela negara dan mengenalkan kesenian wayang kepada anak-anak. Desain karakter wayang yang digunakan bernama Panca Satria, yaitu 5 pahlawan cilik berkarakter bela negara yang merupakan hasil luaran Riset Dasar peneliti. Kegiatan penyuluhan ini dilakukan di TK Al-Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya yang berlokasi di Taman Bhaskara No.1, kecamatan Mulyorejo, Surabaya. Dengan adanya kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini, diharapkan anak usia dini khususnya anak TK dapat mengenal nilai bela negara sejak dini sebagai bentuk kecintaan terhadap tanah air Indonesia.

Abstract

Tanaman serai merupakan tanaman bermarga Andropogon, dengan nama spesies Andropogon nardus L. Daun pada serai merupakan bahan baku pembuatan minyak serai, spray, desinfektan, pestisida nabati dan juga bisa digunakan sebagai gel pengharum ruangan. Tanaman serai menghasilkan “citronella oil” atau yang biasa dikenal dengan sebutan minyak atsiri. Indonesia menjadi salah satu pemasok bahan baku minyak atsiri di dunia bahkan pemanfaatan tanaman serai sebagai produk gel pengharum ruangan dapat menjadi salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat di Desa Gedangan, Kecamatan Mojowarno, Kabupaten Jombang. Serai, yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Cymbopogon citratus, memiliki kandungan minyak atsiri yang cukup tinggi, yang mana komponen utamanya adalah sitral. Pengembangan produk gel pengharum ruangan berbasis serai memiliki potensi untuk menciptakan peluang usaha baru bagi masyarakat desa, khususnya di daerah desa Gedangan yang kaya akan tanaman serai. Produk pengharum ruangan berbasis bahan alami ini dapat mengurangi ketergantungan masyarakat desa pada produk-produk berbasis kimia yang berpotensi merusak lingkungan.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how the audience's reception is related to the representation of disabled characters in the movie Agak Laen. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method by conducting in-depth interviews with the audience of the movie Agak Laen and documentation. With the discourse related to discrimination that has surfaced, the researcher wants to use a reception analysis to find out how the audience accepts the representation of disabled characters in the film Agak Laen. The results of the reception will then be classified into three positions of message reception according to Stuart Hall's theory, namely hegemony-dominant, negotiation, and oppositional. The results of this study show that the results of interviews with seven informants have different message acceptance. Two informants were in the hegemony-dominant position, two were in the negotiation position, and three were in the oppositional position. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the representation of disability in the media, especially in movies, still does not represent people with disabilities in real life. The media is still fixated on stereotypes that have existed for a long time, so it rarely researches matters related to disability. With the variety of answers from the informants, it can also be concluded that each informant has a different acceptance based on their experience and knowledge.

Abstract

Pengembangan UMKM merupakan salah satu tujuan Negara Indonesia untuk dapat meningkatkan perekonomian bangsa. Salah satu wilayah yang perlu dikembangkan adalah UMKM di Kelurahan Keputih. Kelurahan Keputih merupakah salah satu kelurahan di Surabaya yang memiliki total kurang lebih 60 UMKM yang terdaftar dengan jenis UMKM yang bervariasi, seperti food and beverage, fashion, agribisnis, dan kerajinan tangan. Dengan jumlah UMKM yang banyak, Kelurahan Keputih juga bertugas untuk mengembangkannya dalam beberapa aspek seperti administrasi, keuangan, dan pengembangan produk. Untuk mendukung Kelurahan Keputih, Kelompok 74 KKN-T UPN “Veteran” Jawa Timur melakukan program kerja pendampingan foto produk untuk mengembangkan UMKM di sisi digitalisasi. Pendampingan ini ditujukan untuk beberapa UMKM yang dibina dengan output foto dan video yang dapat digunakan untuk pemasaran secara digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode door to door atau penelitian lapangan, dimana anggota KKN mendatangi rumah pemilik UMKM dan secara langsung mendampingi satu per satu. Dengan metode tersebut, kelompok 74 dapat membantu meningkatkan kualitas foto produk yang dimiliki oleh 26 UMKM binaan.
