Abstract

This study looks into how relevant K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid's (Gus Dur's) ideas on pluralism are for responding to these modern challenges, especially from the viewpoint of Civic Education (PPKn). The research uses a literature review, pulling data from academic journals, books, and other related documents. It focuses on three main questions: (1) How Gus Dur's life experiences formed his pluralistic outlook; (2) How diversity and pluralism are understood within Civic Education; and (3) Which specific parts of Gus Dur's pluralism can be used in today's digital world. The findings show that Gus Dur's thinking—especially on universal humanism, the "indigenization of Islam," and his concept of separating religion and state (though not complete secularism)—provides a strong basis for building a new digital citizenship. This new ethical framework is meant to encourage attitudes that are tolerant, critical, and open, all of which reflect the core values of Pancasila.

Abstract

This article explores Al-Ghazali's views on student development in Islamic education, from the basic concept of students as spiritual beings with a natural disposition towards goodness, the importance of ethics or manners in connecting knowledge with teachers, the formation of a holistic character that unites spiritual, intellectual, moral, social, and physical aspects, plus the role of teachers as moral role models. In essence, education today is often fragmented, neglecting the spiritual and ethical dimensions, thus causing a serious moral crisis. To resolve this, I conducted a qualitative analysis of Al-Ghazali's writings, such as Ihya Ulum al-Din, combined with current educational theories and empirical studies. An interesting finding is that Al-Ghazali's framework truly encourages balanced development, with a focus on sincere intentions, humility, and social responsibility, which ultimately leads students to the level of insan kamil or whole human beings. This approach has been shown to increase student motivation, resilience, and ethics, as evidenced in Islamic schools today. In conclusion, Al-Ghazali's ideas are like a panacea for reforming education, helping us deal with issues such as secularization and digital loneliness in a more humane way.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid progression of modernization and globalization has triggered a fundamental reorientation of values among younger generations, manifesting in the erosion of students' character formation, while prevailing educational practices are widely regarded as overly prescriptive and inadequately attuned to the socio-cultural realities students inhabit. This study pursues three primary objectives: (1) to examine the forms and dimensions of the character education crisis amid modernization, (2) to investigate the strategic function of local wisdom in responding to this crisis, and (3) to delineate how local wisdom values may be embedded within instructional processes as a mechanism for cultivating students' character. A qualitative methodology grounded in library research was applied, involving systematic analysis of pertinent scholarly literature. Three principal findings emerged from this inquiry: (1) local wisdom is established as a contextually grounded and value-laden alternative within character education, (2) contextual learning approaches demonstrate greater efficacy in facilitating value internalization relative to conventional, norm-driven instruction, (3) the incorporation of local cultural values into formal educational structures is put forward as a strategically informed response to contemporary character deterioration. It is therefore argued that local wisdom should not be relegated to a peripheral curricular role, but rather positioned as a foundational framework, systematically embedded through institutionalized school culture practices and the enrichment of learning experiences beyond the formal classroom setting.

Abstract

One of the famous Muslim philosophers among Muslims is al-Farabi who lived in the Middle Ages. Al-Farabi wrote many works numbering in the hundreds. Through various thoughts and the fruits of his work which were then followed and continued to be studied by subsequent generations to the present. However, not many of his works have been found in their entirety, of the hundreds of works produced, only a few have been preserved and can be studied to this day. A number of his works have been re-translated into several world languages, therefore his thoughts are widely spread throughout the world because they are studied by many groups. The description in this paper is to discuss al-Farabi's various theories related to Islamic educational philosophy, starting from thoughts about God, human beings, reason, the nature of education, educational material or curriculum, and also a discussion of al-Farabi's educational philosophy of thought. This research is included in the research library research. The data from this study came from books, journals and various articles related to the research theme. Data analysis in this study uses content analysis. The result of this study is that in viewing Islamic education, al-Farabi must integrate theoretical knowledge and implement educational values at a practical level. Human success in achieving happiness in the world and the hereafter is determined by both, namely the integration of knowledge and noble morality. Al-Farabi when viewed from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy, he is a figure with the al-diniy al-'aqlaniy or religious-rational wing. Al-Farabi's thoughts also correlate with the values in the profile of Pancasila students, namely the aspects of faith and fear of God Almighty and noble character, as well as aspects of critical thinking.

Abstract

The ability to think critically and logically in making appropriate and effective decisions is important, especially in logical thinking. The purpose of this article is to discuss Aristotle and logic, inductive and deductive logic in higher order thinking, the combination of inductive and deductive logic in higher order thinking and its benefits and implications. The method used in this article is library research. The reasoning system known as deductive logic looks at the rules of valid conclusions based on formulations and conclusions that are generated as a condition derived from the premise. Inductive reasoning relies on making inferences based on direct knowledge and experience. The results achieved through inductive reasoning are not necessarily accurate with absolute certainty, but rather have a certain degree of probability or possibility. Observing some specific situations or examples and then making generalizations based on patterns or regularities found is an example of inductive reasoning. In contrast, deductive reasoning draws certain conclusions from certain premises by applying general laws or logical norms. As long as the premises and reasoning are correct, the conclusions obtained through deductive reasoning are always correct. Thus, inductive and deductive logic help us to have correct and precise knowledge in thinking and avoid misunderstandings.
