The development of international crimes related to drug trafficking, facilitated by Silk Roadsite since 2011, has thrived on the latest advanced technology. The site has been known as“cryptomarket” introduced by James Martin on his research results in 2013, which were alsoin the spotlight because of the closure of the site in the Silk Road at the same year. AlthoughSilk Road also sales goods other than the categories of drugs, this research proves that untilthe year of 2015, the third version of this site is still focused on the provision of drugs andstill continues to increase from the previous versions. The result of this research represent thedevelopment of cryptomarket through the growth of Silk Road in the years 2011-2015. Abstract

It has been long and common to accept that female are less likely to commit crime thando male. However, some researchers rejected this idea (Adler, 1975; Simon 1975;Steffensmeier & Allan, 1998). They argued that emancipation and gender equality weredecisive factors to explain how and why female with better equality and represent inpreviously male dominated occupations caused a steady increase in the number of crimeover recent years. According to those assumptions, this paper tries to connect the relationbetween emancipation and gender equality with transnational drug crime. This paperdeduces that the higher emancipation and gender equality which female get, the highertransnational drug crime will occurred. But after further testing through mixed methodanalysis, this paper concludes that higher emancipation and gender equality will preciselyreduce the intensity of transnational drug crime by female. Later, this paper alsodiscovers that female with higher emancipation and gender equality actually are thevictim, and so female with lower emancipation and gender equality are the pure doer oftransnational drug crime.

Abstract

The globalization era, which now has increasingly removed the interstate's barrier, is not solely positive. One of the negative impacts which has occurred is the inevitable dissemination of counterfeit drugs across the world. Thus, the counterfeit drugs issue has become a common problem of international society and has to be tackled together. The discourse on the issue and technical countermeasures are relentlessly sought by WHO along with its member countries until the creation of Guidelines for the Development of Measures to Combat Counterfeit Drugs (GDMCCD) in 1999. The guidelines were formulated for harmonizing member countries' efforts in the most systematic and effective way in tackling counterfeit drugs dissemination. In this thesis, Indonesia as one of the WHO member countries, abides and implements the guidelines. This thesis will discuss about the motives behind Indonesia's GDMCCD 1999 implementation into governmental system and municipal law while the guideline is merely a recommendation. Through the neoliberalism perspective, which is rich in the explanation about self-interest in international cooperation, this research provides explanatory analysis about Indonesia's interest in the guidelines implementation. The result of this research finds that Indonesia has distributed the vision and mission of GDMCCD into national regulations and Indonesia has interest-based motives. National interest (economic benefits, political supports, and information) and common interest (human security, transnational crime, and transaction cost) are the main motives of Indonesia in the implementation.

Abstract

The development of 5G technology has become a new realm in the technological competition between the United States and China. This technology competition focuses on competing for dominance of global core technologies, which can provide economic benefits through standard setting, patents, and global supply chains. Huawei, a technology company from China, is said to have dominated 5G development based on the number of patents and company spending on research and development of this internet network. The United States as a first-mover country that for decades has led the development of global internet network technology, is facing challenges with Huawei's rapid development in the development of 5G technology. The escalation of competition has increased with the designation of Huawei as a threat to the United States by President Donald Trump. The Clean Network policy initiative was also later issued by the Trump administration to block Huawei's 5G network in America. This initiative was also used to lobby allied countries to join this policy. This raises questions about the factors driving the establishment of the Clean Network policy as a response to United States' concerns about the leadership of Chinese tech companies in 5G development. This research uses Neoclassical Realism theory to explain the factors causing the choice of the Clean Network policy as the United States' response to pressure from the leadership of Chinese companies. This theory will combine the analysis of international and domestic structures in understanding the behavior of the United States.

Abstract

In 2015, countries united under organization named East African Community (EAC), declared will ban importation on second-hand clothes started in 2019. During EAC Summit which held on February 22nd, 2018, the leaders agreed to relocate their investment to local industries, and implementation of tariffs on second-hand clothes. Unfortunately, President Donald Trump threatened will remove aids given to the countries through African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA), a regulation which eliminate trade tariffs. He also threatened Rwanda, as one of the ban initiator, by removing its membership from AGOA. However, from profit calculations, second-hand trade have little impacts for United States economy. This research will use decision making theory to explain the motives of US ‘threatening’ action to East African Community. This research use one of its concept, Rational Actor Model (RAM) to analyze further the reasons behind US petty action through the AGOA’s platform. The main argument of this reserach is US desicion is rational, motivated by two factors: to solve environmental problem caused by secondhand clothes and regaining political influence within East African region by securing the secondhand clothing trade with EAC.

Abstract

This study discusses China's efforts in protecting intellectual property in a case study ofcooperation with the US during the reign of president Xi Jin Ping in 2008 - 2017. Thisstudy uses institutional liberal guidance that draws conclusions and theories from theempirical data collected in the field. The result of this research is that China's efforts inprotecting intellectual property have not been successful. China's joining the WTO andcooperation with the US have not been able to suppress the number of intellectual propertyviolations in China. The domestic legal system remains unclear, government oversight isinsufficient to make this case still continue to occur. China's inconsistent stance on anagreed treaty creates a new problem for the growing US-China relationship between thetwo countries. US lawsuits and allegations sent to the Chinese government for the theft oftechnology transfers prove that there is a desire of both countries to impose each other onbehalf of the national interest.

Abstract

The United States and China are the two largest economic powers in the world today. Therelationship between the two countries always change from time to time in accordance withthe circumstances. Despite the cooperation in various fields, concerns and disputes remaininevitable. One of the disputes between the two countries is the protection of intellectualproperty rights. The dispute is more or less due to differences in the application of intellectualproperty rights protection regimes in each country. The United States had implemented theintellectual property protection regime long ago before China implemented the intellectualproperty protection regime. The United States institution in charge of handling this matter isthe United State Trade Representative (USTR). USTR gave its recommendations through theNotorious Markets List which then often targets the largest e-commerce from China, Taobaowhich is a subsidiary of the Alibaba Group. This study then aims to analyze the reasons behindthe response given by the Chinese government to the USTR's Notorious Markets List, especiallyin 2016-2018. These factors will be analyzed using the concept of national interest. Thisresearch argues that the response given by the Chinese government to USTR's 2016 NotoriousMarkets List is not only about the intellectual property agenda but there is an economic interestbehind it.
