Abstract

This study investigates the synthesis and characterization of Cu-Bi2O3 for degradation of antibiotics AMX, CIP, and TC using precipitation-assisted-microwave method at varying concentrations of Cu at 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%. The effect of Cu concentration on the structural, morphological, and optical properties were studied by XRD, UV-Vis, and SEM-EDX. The optimal results were obtained by adding 4% Cu to the Bi2O3 matrix. With an energy band gap of 2.32 eV, a crystal size of 37.04 nm, and ?-Bi2O3 and CuBi2O4 phases. The removal efficiency of each antibiotic using the photocatalytic method varies, with AMX at 52.06%, CIP at 61.72%, and TC at 69.44%. Cu-Bi2O3 degraded TC-type antibiotics more rapidly. The high removal efficiency and rapid reaction rate indicate that Cu-Bi2O3 is an effective antibiotic removal agent. This further confirms the fact that the addition of Cu to Bi2O3 material can increase its ability to degrade antibiotics more effective.

Abstract

The power generation sector contributes to climate change. Mitigation efforts are essential to ensure that the commitment to limiting the global temperature increase below 2°C stays on course. One option is to retrofit an existing power plant with new technology that allows integration with renewable energy. This study examines the incorporation of solar energy systems into the operational processes of coal-fired power plants. Utilizing solar energy to substitute steam extraction from high-pressure feed water heater No. 7. This study analyzes the performance of the power plant before and after the retrofit scenario within both power-boost (PB) and fuel-save (FS) modes. Performances under different load conditions also investigated. The results reveal that the thermal efficiency within both FS and power-boost (PB) modes increased up to 2 % compared to the base scenario. In both power-boost and fuel-save (FS) modes, there is a notable reduction in specific fuel consumption, with power-boost mode experiencing a decrease of 15.05 g/kWh and fuel-save mode showing a decrease of 15.75 g/kWh. Thus, the decreasing coal consumption implies reduced CO2 emissions within both FS and power-boost (PB) modes by 4.69 % and 4,94 %, respectively. Results under different loads show that the solar percentage and the rise in solar-to-electricity efficiency with decreasing loads. When operated in fuel-save (FS) mode, the proportions of solar electricity at VWO, 100%, 75%, and 50% load rates are 5.23 %, 5.53 %, 7.76%, and 11.92%, respectively. Moreover, the LCOE for solar electricity for both modes is 0.0267 USD/kWh, with expected investment returns of 5.87 years.

Abstract

The increasing use of plastics has caused severe environmental pollution, especially by microplastics with plastic particles of 5 mm or less in diameter. These particles are formed by environmental factors such as weathering and ultraviolet irradiation, thus making environmental pollution worse. This environmental pollution increases human exposure to microplastics through the food chain. Many studies have now reported the adverse effects of exposure to microplastics in food and aquatic organisms. However, relatively few studies have used white rats. the entry of microplastics into white rats can affect two important organs, namely the liver and kidneys, in this study we conducted an in-vivo experimental test of male white rats by giving acute and chronic exposure to pure microplastic PE (polyethylene) for 28 days respectively. repeated with an adjusted dose. Toxicological effects were comprehensively evaluated in white rats by looking at clinical signs, body weight, and kidney and liver activity through examination of blood parameters creatinine, SGOT, SGPT, and further kidney and liver abnormalities were analyzed through histopathological tests. Based on the results of the experiments conducted, it was found that PE-type microplastics had a significant impact on changes in body weight, increased functional activity of the kidneys and livers of white rats, and chronic histopathological abnormalities in male white rats, so it is hoped that this study can clarify that PE type microplastics greatly affect organs for those who consume it in the long term.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The use of battery-based electric vehicles (KLBB) continues to increase, so the ease of using the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) infrastructure for recharging electric vehicle batteries must be considered to increase public confidence. One of the problems in using electric vehicles is the concern about long-distance travel (range anxiety) due to limited battery capacity and the minimal number of SPKLUs. This research aims to provide a tool to simulate cross-operator charging stations using the EV roaming method. In this approach, charging station users only need to be registered with one SPKLU operator to use other charging stations. This research develops a set of simulation models called the EV Roaming Simulator and simulates several EV roaming scenarios concerning the basic functionality of four state-of-the-art EV roaming protocols. The simulator consists of three Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP)-based models: the Charge Point Model, the Central System Model, and the National Access Point Model, representing charging stations, central systems, and roaming hubs. The simulator is capable of executing the given EV roaming scenario. It has the potential to be further developed and used in developing various newly proposed EV roaming systems.
