Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between environmental sanitation of salak plantation with malaria incidence in the Village District Gunungjati Pagedongan Banjarnegara District. This type of research is an analytical study with case-control study design. The population in the study of all the peoples in the Village District Gunungjati Pagedongan Banjarnegara District recorded from January to June of 2006 who suffered from malaria disease (case group) and all the peoples who do not suffer from malaria disease (control group). The sample consisted of samples of cases, amounting to 39 peoples and control samples amounted to 39 peoples. Data obtained, processed using chi square test statistic with degrees of significance = 0.05 and calculate the value of odds ratio (OR). The result showed that significant risk factors, namely lighting (p value = 0.005, OR = 4.079), and humidity (p value = 0.001, OR = 4.792). Variables those are not associated with the incidence of malaria is the temperature, puddles, and shrubs plantation in the environtment of salak plantation.Keywrods: Environmental sanitation; Plantation salak; Malaria

Abstract

The improvement of healthy behavior awareness of teenagers is still a serious concern. There are three major problems in teenage: sexuality, drugs, and addictive substance and sexually transmitted diseases, especially HIV and AIDS. Among steps that can be taken to build teenage awareness to have healthy behavior is by applying Mapping Adolescent Programming and Measurement (MAPM) Framework. The objective of the research is to build an MAPM Framework model and obtaining a description of its effectiveness as an effort to improve teenage awareness of healthy behavior. The research conducted at Walisongo Kedungwuni Islamic Junior High School. Samples are students that have problem as mapped and measured from MAPM.  A non-randomized one group pre-test- post-test design was implemented in this study. The results indicate that attitude towards counseling, cigarette, juvenile delinquency, smoking attitude, attitude towards drugs, and premarital sex after the application of the MAPM positively changed (p-value <0,05). The attitude and behavior of students were improved. Teenage awareness of healthy behavior significantly increases (p value= 0,000) after the application of the MAPM framework. Further discussion will be discussed in the article below.

Abstract

Obesity prevalence in Asia was raising. Self-perception became an increasingly determinant predictor of a healthier lifestyle. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between self-perception and actual BMI among Indonesian and Taiwanese teenagers. This research was cross sectional and using participatory sampling of 415 participants from 6 high schools in Indonesia, and 717 participants from 7 high schools in Taiwan. The data was taken by enumerator using the Obesity Impact on the Quality of Life Perception Questionnaire (ObI-Q) and the Projective Test. Self-perception was statistically associated with actual BMI which state that obesity might be treated by hospital, clinics, or specialist (p0.001). Self-perception was also related to degenerative disease (p = 0.003) and social life (p = 0.04). Self-perception about sports stated that obese people could be as good as normal people (p=0.11). Most teenagers had the correct perception regarding ideal body image (p=0.04). The multivariable analysis showed that teenagers who did not have self-perception of desire to lose weight were 6.37 times more likely to have overweight than teenagers who had self-perception of desire to lose weight. Self-perception of desire to lose weight was a variable with major contribution to actual BMI among teenagers.

Abstract

Health problems in Indonesia today are the low health status of the community, among others, marked by high maternal mortality rates and infant mortality rates, on the other hand the use of health services is an important factor in determining health, which is influenced by geographical, economic and social aspects. The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship between health service access factors and the determination of decisions on choosing family health services in suburban communities in Java and Outside Java. The method with a quantitative approach and support from qualitative data. The instrument consists of a questionnaire related to access to health services (geographic access, economic access, social access) related to the choice of health services. The population of families in the Sub-urban areas of Semarang and Gorontalo. Samples were taken using the accidental sampling technique, as many as 100 families. Data analysis with univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. The results of the study obtained significant differences in the decision to choose health services between the suburban communities of Semarang (Java) and Gorontalo (Outside Java), with a t-value of 4.284 and a sig value of 0.000. The difference lies in economic access.
