Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pelatihan fermentasi pakan Rumput Pakchong (Pennisetum purpureum cv Thailand) dan limbah pertanian daun singkong dengan metode silase kepada peternak sapi potong di Desa Margomulyo Kecamatan Tegineneng Kabupaten PesawaranProvinsi Lampung. Kegiatan dilakukan pada Juni-Juli 2023. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Rural Appraisal. Fermentasi pakan menggunakan metode silase dengan bahan utama Rumput Pakchong (Pennisetum purpureum cv Thailand) dan daun singkong difermentasi selama 21 hari dengan bantuan larutan fermentor EM4 yang dipadatkan dalam tong fermentor pada kondisi anaerob. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan dengan mengukur keberhasilan fermentasi pakan melalui penilaian berbagai parameter uji organoleptik dan pengukuran derajat keasaman terhadap hasil silase. Kesimpulan kegiatan ini yaitu pelatihan teknologi fermentasi pakan berbasis tanaman pakan rumput pakchong dan limbah pertanian daun singkong dengan metode silase diikuti oleh 20 orang peternak sapi menghasilkan tekstur lembut; berbau asam dan aroma harum; tidak ada pertumbuhan jamur; berwarna hijau kekuningan; kadar pH asam antara 2,5 – 3; penilaian kualitas silase kategori tinggi; dan palatabilitas tinggi pada ternak sapi. Kegiatan yang telah dilakukan dinilai berhasil berdasarkan ketercapaian tujuan yaitu peternak mampu membuat silase yang berkualitas sebagai hijauan pakan fermentasi yang dapat disimpan dalam jangka panjang untuk menjaga ketersediaan pakan.

Abstract

Tim Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat memberikan solusi melalui edukasi kepada peternak melalui penyuluhan dan pelatihan dalam rangka mendukung tercapainya pencapaian SDGs poin 2 di Indonesia untuk mengakhiri kelaparan, mencapai ketahanan pangan dan nutrisi yang lebih baik dan mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan. Sasaran kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu anggota Kelompok Ternak Tunas Karya sebagai mitra pengabdian. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan metode 1) Penyuluhan dan diskusi mengenai manajemen pemeliharaan, perkandangan, kesehatan dan reproduksi sapi; dan 2) Pelatihan fermentasi pakan. Evaluasi kegiatan berupa evaluasi awal (pre-test) dan evaluasi akhir (post test). Kesimpulan kegiatan ini yaitu 1) Jumlah peserta penyuluhan sebanyak 23 orang anggota Kelompok Ternak Tunas Karya; 2) Jumlah peserta pelatihan fermentasi pakan sebanyak 21 orang anggota Kelompok Ternak Tunas Karya; 3) Fermentasi pakan berbasis rumput pakchong, daun lamtoro dan daun singkong melalui metode silase menghasilkan tekstur yang lembut, berbau asam dan aroma harum, tidak ada pertumbuhan jamur, berwarna hijau kekuningan; dan poin penilaian kualitas silase yaitu 100 poin; dan 4) Peningkatan persentase pengetahuan terkait manajemen pemeliharaan sebesar 28%; manajemen perkandangan 45%; manajemen kesehatan dan reproduksi 46%; dan fermentasi pakan 55%.

Abstract

Teknologi budidaya ikan bioflok merupakan teknologi terkini untuk mendapatkan hasil ikan yang optimal.  Teknologi ini perlu ditransferkan ke kelompok masyarakat guna salah satu usaha untuk peningkatan pendapatan kelompok masyarakat tersebut. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan kerjasama tripartit yaitu akademisi, praktisi budidaya bioflok dan kelompok masyarakat. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah melalukan proses transfer teknologi kolam bioflok kepada kelompok pengajian Al Husna Blitar oleh Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Brawijaya yang didampingi dan dilatih oleh Ori FISH Bangsri. Sebanyak 2 pemuda dari Kelompok Pengajian Al Husna mengikuti pelatihan Budidaya Ikan Bioflok di Ori FISH Bangsri. Kemudian sebanyak 1 kolam ikan nila diameter 2 meter disertai benih ikan nila ±5 cm 300 ekor dan seperangkatan peralatan budidaya ikan bioflok diberikan kepada Al Husna sebagai transfer teknologi. Selama budidaya dilakukan pendampingan oleh Praktisi dan dilakukan visitasi rutin oleh akademisi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa budidaya ikan bioflok sudah bisa dipanen setelah 3 bulan dengan hasil yang sangat baik. Kesimpulan kegiatan ini adalah transfer teknologi kolam ikan bioflok kepada kelompok masyarakat dapat berjalan sangat baik berkat adanya pendekatan tripartit melalui akademisi, praktisi dan kelompok masyakarat.

Abstract

Kelompok Tani Surya Nusantara di Kampung Sendangasri, Kecamatan Sendang Agung, Kabupaten Lampung Tengah merupakan salah satu kampung yang masyarakatnya merupakan petani dan peternak sapi. Masyarakat selain bertani juga banyak memelihara ternak terutama sapi Bali. Setiap harinya sapi Bali dengan bobot sekitar 200-250 kg dapat menghasilkan limbah feses sebanyak 8 – 10 kg feses/hari. Kurangnya ilmu pengetahuan menjadikan masyarakat belum mengetahui alternatif pupuk kimia. Limbah feses dari sapi tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu alternatif tambahan pendapatan bagi para peternak dan petani dengan cara menjadikan feses sebagai bahan pembuatan pupuk yang dikombinasikan dengan limbah pertanian seperti jerami padi dan daun singkong sehingga menjadi produk pupuk organik yang menyuburkan lahan pertanian melalui metode penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik. Bentuk evaluasi yang dilakukan pada kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah a) evaluasi awal, b) evaluasi proses, dan c) evaluasi akhir untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan petani sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan kegiatan. Kegiatan pengabdian diikuti oleh 23 orang anggota Kelompok Tani Surya Nusantara di Kampung Sendangasri, Kecamatan Sendang Agung, Kabupaten Lampung Tengah. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi kegiatan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan peternak sebelum pelaksanaan adalah 45,50% kemudian meningkat menjadi 94,30% setelah pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian. Kesimpulan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk organik dengan memanfaatkan limbah feses ternak dan limbah pertanian sebagai bahan baku potensial pupuk organik dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota Kelompok Tani Surya Nusantara di Kampung Sendangasri, Kecamatan Sendang Agung, Kabupaten Lampung Tengah sebesar 48,80% yang termasuk dalam kategori tinggi.

Abstract

Kelompok Ternak PERKASA sebagai mitra kegiatan pengabdian belum menerapkan biosekuriti tiga zona dan kegiatan desinfeksi untuk mencegah infeksi penyakit masuk kedalam area peternakan. Rangkaian kegiatan PKM pada Juni-Agustus 2024 meliputi: 1) Sosialisasi dan diskusi; 2) Penerapan biosekuriti tiga zona; 3) Aplikasi bilik desinfeksi; dan 4) Evaluasi. Kesimpulan PKM dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan peternak sebesar 34,22% dengan serapan pengetahuan terbesar pada umur peternak yang lebih tua dan jumlah kepemilikan ternak yang lebih sedikit, serta Kelompok Ternak PERKASA telah menerapkan biosekuriti tiga zona dan memiliki bilik desinfeksi di gerbang area peternakan sebagai upaya pencegahan infeksi penyakit agar budidaya kambing menjadi optimal.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of black cumin (Nigella sativa) supplementation through drinking water on the histology of broiler chickens small intestine and large intestine. The research was conducted from April-September 2020 in a cage facility of the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This research used a completely randomized design with four treatment groups and three replications (five broilers per replication) with a total of 60 male broilers. The treatments were drinking water without Black Cumin (P0, control); drinking water with Black Cumin 36 mg/kg BW/day (P1); 72 mg/kg BW/day (P2); and 144 mg/kg BW/day (P3). Three broilers from each group were randomly necropsied at 31 days old, and samples of the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) and large intestine were fixed with 10% formalin solution and sent to the Lampung Disease Investigation Center for histological preparations. The observation of preparations was carried out microscopically using the Leica DM500 Binocular Microscope to accurately calculate various parameter sizes. The results were analyzed statistically with one way Analysis of Variance at significant level 5% and if proven significant, then a Tukey test was conducted. The results of this study were that the supplementation of black cumin 72 mg/kg BW/day through drinking water could significantly increase (P0.05) 1) the average sizes of villi height and villi area of small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, ileum) and large intestine (colon) of broiler chickens; 2) the average sizes of basal villi width, villi apex width, and gland diameter of broiler duodenum; and 3) the average size of apex villi width of broiler colon. The conclusion of this study was the supplementation of black cumin at dose of 72 mg/kg BW/day through drinking water could increase the histological sizes of the small intestine and large intestine of broilers.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the processing of ammoniated, biofermented and amorphous corn husks on physical quality, dry matter, ash content, crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), crude fiber (CF), and nitrogen free extract (NFE). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments given were P1: untreated corn husks (control), P2: ammoniated corn husks (2% urea), P3: fermented corn husks (5% Aspergillus niger), and P4: amofered corn husks (2% urea + 5% Aspergillus niger). The variables observed included physical quality and nutrient content (dry matter, ash, crude protein, ether extract, crude fiber, and nitrogen free extract). The data obtained  analyzed using Analysis of Variety and followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results of the study had a significant effect on the physical quality, dry matter, ash, crude protein, ether extract, crude fiber and nitrogen free extract (P<0,05), but had no effect (P>0,05) on the ash content. Amopheric processing has the best effect on physical quality, crude protein and crude fiber content of corn husks. Fermentation processing gives the best effect on ether extract and nitrogen free extract.

Abstract

This study was conducted at the Regional Technical Service Unit for Artificial Insemination, Lampung District, Terbanggi Besar Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, from January 25 to 30, 2023. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of different types of egg yolk and to identify the best type of egg yolk in tris diluent on the quality of frozen semen of Brahman cattle. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments: standard egg yolk, herbal egg yolk, and omega-3 enriched egg yolk, each with six replications. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA at the 5% and 1% significance levels, and if significant, further analyzed with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the different types of egg yolk in tris diluent had no significant effect (P>0.05) on post-thaw spermatozoa abnormalities, had a significant effect (P<0.05) on post-thaw spermatozoa motility, and had a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on the percentage of live spermatozoa post-thawing. The conclusion of this study was that the addition of standard egg yolk and omega-3 enriched egg yolk in tris diluent has a better effect on the motility and percentage of live spermatozoa of Brahman cattle compared to the addition of herbal egg yolk.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effects and identify the optimal treatment of adding soybean meal, zinc (Zn), and chromium (Cr) on the total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and packed cell volume in Rambon goats. The research was conducted from November 2022 to January 2023 at the goat pen of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Total erythrocyte count and packed cell volume were assessed at the Pathology Laboratory of the Lampung Veterinary Center, while hemoglobin levels were analyzed at the Laboratory of Physiology and Animal Reproduction, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.The experiment involved 12 male Rambon goats and employed a Randomized Block Design (RBD) based on body weight, with four treatments and three replicates. The treatments were as follows: P1: Basal ration, P2: Basal ration 90% + 10% soybean meal, P3: Basal ration + organic minerals (40 ppm Zn lysinate + 0.3 ppm Cr lysinate), and P4: Basal ration 90% + 10% soybean meal + organic minerals (40 ppm Zn lysinate + 0.3 ppm Cr lysinate). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a significance level of 5%.The observed variables included total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and packed cell volume. The results indicated that the addition of soybean meal, Zn, and Cr had no significant effect (P>0.05) on total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, or packed cell volume. However, the supplementation was found to maintain normal values for these parameters, with a tendency to increase total erythrocyte count (P4), hemoglobin levels (P3), and packed cell volume (P2) within normal limits.

Abstract

Lampung Province in 2022 ranked seventh nationally in beef cattle production with 906.6 thousand head and third in goat production with 1.67 million head, establishing itself as a key center for the provision of sacrificial animals. The training of volunteers in ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection of sacrificial animals aims to ensure the health of these animals. The sequence of outreach activities comprises five stages: 1) Administrative preparation; 2) Provision of training materials to volunteer inspectors; 3) Training in ante-mortem inspection of goats and cattle; 4) Training in post-mortem examination of goats; and 5) Evaluation of activities. The results from this community outreach initiative includes: 1) Training sessions and practical exercises in ante-mortem and post-mortem examination were attended by 104 volunteer inspectors in Lampung Province in 2023, resulting in a 10.55% increase in participants' knowledge from pre-activity (pretest) levels of 77.51% to 88.06% post-activity (posttest), categorized as high; 2) Ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections of sacrificial animals were conducted by 21 volunteer inspectors from 104 participants who took part in provision of training materials (20.19%) across seven districts/cities in Lampung Province; 3) A total of 535 sacrificial animals were inspected, comprising 242 cattle and 293 goats with Bandar Lampung City having the largest proportion of inspection sites. Conclusion of this activity there was an increase in the knowledge of sacrificial animal inspection volunteers after the training.
