Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of protection provided by supplementation of Azolla microphylla flour in broiler feed against the antibody titers profile of Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease. The research was conducted over two months (July-August 2021) at the broiler unit of the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and five replications. Each replication consisted of five Cobb CP707 strain broilers, resulting in 100 broilers. Azolla microphylla flour supplementation in the feed was administered at different doses: P0=100% commercial feed (control); P1=97.5% commercial feed + 2.5% Azolla microphylla flour; P2=95% commercial feed + 5% Azolla microphylla flour; P3=92.5% commercial feed + 7.5% Azolla microphylla flour. Serum samples were collected from 30-day-old broilers, with one sample taken from each replication, totalling 20 samples. The samples were analyzed for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease antibody titers at AGRILab Vaksindo Laboratory using the Hemagglutination Inhibition test. Each treatment's antibody titer data for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease were tabulated and presented in histograms to facilitate descriptive analysis. Antibody titers (log2 X) of Avian Influenza 4.00±0.71 and Newcastle Disease 4.60±2.07 from P2 were included in the protection level based on the WOAH Standard. The study concluded that supplementing 5% Azolla microphylla flour in broiler feed increases the antibody titers against Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease to protective levels.

Abstract

Teknologi budidaya ikan bioflok merupakan teknologi terkini untuk mendapatkan hasil ikan yang optimal.  Teknologi ini perlu ditransferkan ke kelompok masyarakat guna salah satu usaha untuk peningkatan pendapatan kelompok masyarakat tersebut. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan kerjasama tripartit yaitu akademisi, praktisi budidaya bioflok dan kelompok masyarakat. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah melalukan proses transfer teknologi kolam bioflok kepada kelompok pengajian Al Husna Blitar oleh Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Brawijaya yang didampingi dan dilatih oleh Ori FISH Bangsri. Sebanyak 2 pemuda dari Kelompok Pengajian Al Husna mengikuti pelatihan Budidaya Ikan Bioflok di Ori FISH Bangsri. Kemudian sebanyak 1 kolam ikan nila diameter 2 meter disertai benih ikan nila ±5 cm 300 ekor dan seperangkatan peralatan budidaya ikan bioflok diberikan kepada Al Husna sebagai transfer teknologi. Selama budidaya dilakukan pendampingan oleh Praktisi dan dilakukan visitasi rutin oleh akademisi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa budidaya ikan bioflok sudah bisa dipanen setelah 3 bulan dengan hasil yang sangat baik. Kesimpulan kegiatan ini adalah transfer teknologi kolam ikan bioflok kepada kelompok masyarakat dapat berjalan sangat baik berkat adanya pendekatan tripartit melalui akademisi, praktisi dan kelompok masyakarat.

Abstract

This study was conducted at the Regional Technical Service Unit for Artificial Insemination, Lampung District, Terbanggi Besar Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, from January 25 to 30, 2023. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of different types of egg yolk and to identify the best type of egg yolk in tris diluent on the quality of frozen semen of Brahman cattle. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments: standard egg yolk, herbal egg yolk, and omega-3 enriched egg yolk, each with six replications. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA at the 5% and 1% significance levels, and if significant, further analyzed with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the different types of egg yolk in tris diluent had no significant effect (P>0.05) on post-thaw spermatozoa abnormalities, had a significant effect (P<0.05) on post-thaw spermatozoa motility, and had a highly significant effect (P<0.01) on the percentage of live spermatozoa post-thawing. The conclusion of this study was that the addition of standard egg yolk and omega-3 enriched egg yolk in tris diluent has a better effect on the motility and percentage of live spermatozoa of Brahman cattle compared to the addition of herbal egg yolk.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effects and identify the optimal treatment of adding soybean meal, zinc (Zn), and chromium (Cr) on the total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and packed cell volume in Rambon goats. The research was conducted from November 2022 to January 2023 at the goat pen of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Total erythrocyte count and packed cell volume were assessed at the Pathology Laboratory of the Lampung Veterinary Center, while hemoglobin levels were analyzed at the Laboratory of Physiology and Animal Reproduction, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.The experiment involved 12 male Rambon goats and employed a Randomized Block Design (RBD) based on body weight, with four treatments and three replicates. The treatments were as follows: P1: Basal ration, P2: Basal ration 90% + 10% soybean meal, P3: Basal ration + organic minerals (40 ppm Zn lysinate + 0.3 ppm Cr lysinate), and P4: Basal ration 90% + 10% soybean meal + organic minerals (40 ppm Zn lysinate + 0.3 ppm Cr lysinate). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a significance level of 5%.The observed variables included total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and packed cell volume. The results indicated that the addition of soybean meal, Zn, and Cr had no significant effect (P>0.05) on total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, or packed cell volume. However, the supplementation was found to maintain normal values for these parameters, with a tendency to increase total erythrocyte count (P4), hemoglobin levels (P3), and packed cell volume (P2) within normal limits.

Abstract

Newcastle Disease, Avian Influenza and Infectious Bursal Disease are three important broiler diseases with high morbidity and mortality that can increase broiler antibody titers. The aims of this study were to determine the effect and the best dose of immunomodulatory supplementation of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) liquid extract by increasing the antibody titer of Newcastle Disease, Avian Influenza and Infectious Bursal Disease of broilers. The study was conducted for 30 days in the Karang Anyar broiler farm unit, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, experimentally five treatments and five repetitions for each treatment. Each repetition used five broilers. Five treatments with different doses, namely drinking water without liquid extract of Andrographis paniculata (P0); drinking water with liquid extract of A. paniculata 3 mg/kg BW (P1); 6 mg/kg BW (P2); 12 mg/kg BW (P3); (24 mg/kg BW (P4) 31-day-old broiler blood serum was obtained from the brachial vein using a 3 mL disposable syringe. Testing ND and AI antibody titers with HI test and IBD antibody titer with indirect ELISA test at MediLab Laboratory Antibody titer data in tabulation and analyzed descriptively. The content of andrographolide and flavonoids are thought to act as immunostimulants for specific and non-specific immune functions through the production of NK cells, macrophages, cytokine induction, IL-2 production, and lymphocyte proliferation. The conclusions of this study were supplementation of Sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata) liquid extract at a dose of 6 mg/kg BW in broiler drinking water could increase antibody titers against Newcastle Disease and Infectious Bursal Disease and at a dose of 24 mg/kg BW in broiler drinking water could increase antibody titres against Avian Influenza.

Abstract

Desa Margomulyo Kecamatan Tegineneng Kabupaten Pesawaran merupakan salah satu desa yang masyarakatnya beternak kambing sebagai salah satu mata pencaharian utama. Survei pendahuluan menunjukkan minimnya pengetahuan masyarakat terkait manajemen kesehatan dan reproduksi kambing. Tim PKM Unila bertujuan untuk berkontribusi dalam pencapaian SDGs Indonesia dan percepatan penurunan stunting serta memberikan solusi atas permasalahan budidaya kambing di masyarakat dengan diseminasi informasi terkait manajemen kesehatan dan reproduksi kambing melalui penyuluhan, diskusi dan evaluasi melalui kuesioner pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 26 orang peternak kambing di Desa Margomulyo. Kesimpulan kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu 1) Diseminasi manajemen kesehatan dan reproduksi kambing dapat meningkatkan serapan pengetahuan peserta masing-masing sebesar 52,27% dan 43,08%; 2) Tingkat pengetahuan peternak kambing berdasarkan umur peternak bahwa semakin muda umur peternak maka semakin tinggi asupan serapan pengetahuan terhadap kegiatan pengabdian; dan 3) Tingkat pengetahuan peternak kambing berdasarkan jumlah kepemilikan ternak bahwa semakin sedikit jumlah kepemilikan ternak kambing maka semakin tinggi asupan serapan pengetahuan terhadap kegiatan pengabdian. Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh penambahan tepung bungkil kedelai dan mineral organik (Zinc dan Chromium) dalam ransum terhadap kadar Volatile Fatty Acid (VFA) dan amonia (NH3) dalam cairan rumen Kambing Rambon jantan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada November 2022 - Januari 2023 di Teaching Farm Jurusan Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Lampung menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan terhadap 12 Kambing Rambon jantan. Perlakuan yaitu P1: ransum basal 100%; P2: 90% ransum basal+10% tepung bungkil kedelai; P3: 100% ransum basal+mineral organik (40 ppm Zn dan 0,3 ppm Cr); dan P4: 90% ransum basal+10% tepung bungkil kedelai+mineral organik (40 ppm Zn dan 0,3 ppm Cr). Variabel pengamatan meliputi kadar VFA dan NH3. Data dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dengan tingkat signifikansi 5% dan dilanjutkan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Hasil penelitian bahwa P3 memberikan pengaruh terbaik (P<0,05) terhadap peningkatan kadar VFA sebesar 80,82±3,71 mM, sedangkan P2 memberikan pengaruh terbaik (P<0,05) terhadap peningkatan kadar NH3 sebesar 4,84±1,05 mM dalam cairan rumen Kambing Rambon jantan. Kesimpulan penelitian bahwa penambahan mineral organik (40 ppm Zn dan 0,3 ppm Cr) dalam ransum dapat meningkatkan kadar VFA, dan penambahan 10% tepung bungkil kedelai dalam ransum dapat meningkatkan NH3 dalam cairan rumen Kambing Rambon jantan. Abstract

This study aimed to assess the impact of substituting Moringa oleifera leaf flour in the ration on the total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and hematocrit levels of Boer crossbred goats aged 4-12 months. The research was conducted from December 4, 2023, to January 17, 2024, at PERKASA Farms, Simpang Agung Village, Lampung Province. Laboratory analysis of total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin levels, and hematocrit levels was performed at the Laboratory of Pathology, Lampung Veterinary Disease Center. A Randomized Block Design was employed in this study, with three treatments and five groups, involving a total of 15 Boer crossbred goats, categorized based on body weight from smallest to largest. The treatments were as follows: P0=100% basal ration (60% cassava leaf and stem silage+40% concentrate); P1=95% basal ration+5% Moringa leaf meal; and P2=90% basal ration+10% Moringa leaf meal. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results of the study indicate that the mean values for total erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels, and hematocrit levels did not differ significantly (P>0.05) among treatments. The conclusion of this study was substituting Moringa oleifera leaf flour in the ration did not affect the total erythrocyte count, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels in Boer crossbred goats, indicating that Moringa leaf flour could be included in the ration up to 10%.

Abstract

Provinsi Lampung merupakan salah satu provinsi sebagai sentra produksi tanaman pisang di Indonesia yang berpotensi menghasilkan limbah batang pisang yang dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi alternatif pakan bagi ternak. Kelompok Ternak Rejo Cow Farm merupakan kelompok ternak sapi pemula di Desa Margomulyo, Kecamatan Tegineneng, Kabupaten Pesawaran, Provinsi Lampung yang belum pernah menerima kegiatan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan di bidang peternakan sehingga beternak sapi masih dilakukan secara konvensional. Tim PKM DIPA FP Unila menghadirkan solusi melalui berbagai rangkaian kegiatan: 1) Penyuluhan dan diskusi mengenai budidaya sapi, dan fermentasi pakan; dan 2) Pelatihan fermentasi pakan berbasis limbah pertanian batang pisang, daun singkong, dan rumput gajah. Evaluasi kegiatan berdasarkan peningkatan pengetahuan peternak dari kuesioner pre-test dan post-test dan data disajikan dalam bentuk grafik untuk digolongkan dalam 3 jenis kriteria tingkat pengetahuan yaitu rendah (<50%), sedang (50-70%), dan tinggi (>70%). Hasil kegiatan pengabdian yaitu 1) Penyuluhan mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta terkait budidaya sapi, reproduksi sapi, dan fermentasi pakan hingga kategori tinggi (>70%) dengan rerata peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 38,52%; dan 2) Fermentasi pakan berbasis batang pisang sebagai bentuk efisiensi pengolahan limbah pertanian menjadi alternatif pakan dengan keberhasilan pada uji organoleptik dan  palatabilitas tinggi pada ternak sapi. Kesimpulan kegiatan pengabdian ini secara efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam budidaya sapi, reproduksi sapi, dan fermentasi pakan serta keberhasilan pemanfaatan limbah batang pisang sebagai pakan alternatif menunjukkan potensinya dalam meningkatkan efisiensi pakan dan mendukung produksi ternak yang berkelanjutan. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan milkreplacer dalam ransum terhadap total eritrosit, kadar hemoglobin, dannilai packed cell volume pada Kambing Cross Boer jantan umur lepassapih, yang dilaksanakan pada Maret– April 2024 di Kahfi Farm, DesaFajar Baru, Kecamatan Jati Agung, Kabupaten Lampung Selatan,Provinsi Lampung. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimentalmenggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuandan tiga kali ulangan. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini yaitu P0:100 kgransum basal; P1: 100 kg ransum basal+2,5 kg milk replacer; P2: 100kg ransum basal+5 kg milk replacer; dan P3:100 kg ransum basal+7,5kg milk replacer. Koleksi darah dilakukan melalui vena jugularis dandarah dimasukkan pada tabung EDTA. Pemeriksaan total eritrosit, kadarhemoglobin, dan nilai packed cell volume dilaksanakan di LaboratoriumPatologi Balai Veteriner Lampung. Analisis data dilakukan secaradeskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total eritrosit sebesarP0: 7,11x106/µL; P1: 7,80x106/µL; dan P2: 7,97x106/µL; dan P3:7,82x106/µL. Kadar hemoglobin sebesar P0: 8,00 g/dl; P1: 5,57 g/dl; P2:7,47 g/dl; dan P3: 6,30 g/dl, dan nilai packed cell volume sebesar P0:19,87%; P1: 22,43%; P2: 22,73%; dan P3: 22,27%. Berdasarkanpenelitian yang telah dilakukan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwapenambahan milk replacer dalam ransum dapat mempertahankan totaleritrosit dan nilai packed cell volume, tetapi menurunkan kadarhemoglobin Kambing Cross Boer jantan umur lepas sapih.
