Abstract

Implementation of a ritual could not separate from its subject, time, space and things that used during the process. Space is a very important thing in the implementation of a ritual. Attribute or furniture inside the space that used to carry out the ritual activity also has a role to build a ritual space. Buildings that are considered sacral at Pesarean Gunung Kawi have space attribute which function to create a ritual space on the implementation of various types of rituals at that place. The purpose of this study is to determine the ritual space that formed by space attribute at Pesarean Gunung Kawi. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive research. The result of this study showed that beside as a ritual space signage, space attribute also divide the space in accordance with the level of privacy.Keywords: attribute, space, ritual

Abstract

People are not able to break away from the past that gave birth to (system) values and thoughts derived continuously without or with very few changes. This kind of understanding is called as traditionalism. Traditionalism is also in the architecture as a product of human culture. Malang as the town grew rapidly during the Dutch colonial period, saved some buildings from that era. Architecture of these buildings is certainly a result of the design which is based on a wide range of ideologies, one of which is tradisionalism. This study that seeks to identify the presence of traditionalism in the Dutch colonial architecture using descriptive methods (graphics), with data obtained by purposive sampling technique. The results obtained indicate that there is influence of traditionalism in the Dutch colonial architecture embodied in the two architectural elements, namely the roof and openings.Keywords: tradisionalism, Dutch colonial architecture, Malang

Abstract

Long House (Rumah Panjae) Traditional Home Society of West Kalimantan Dayak Iban, long house or betang know in Dayak Iban language as Rumah Panjae. Long House (Rumah Panjae). Panjae Dayak Iban house is constructed of ironwood poles long, Rumah Panjae has its own meaning is backed by the confidence that exists in the customs and culture of the local community. Similarly, the change in house building Panjae is changing due to the needs of society. This study focuses on the problems of space changes in house building Dayak Iban language as Rumah Panjae West Kalimantan. This study aims to identify and analyze changes in the building space Dayak Iban House Panjae Utik River West Kalimantan. Conducting research using descriptive method, the survey directly into the field, the observed changes in the building space Panjae house. The study shows that changes that occur in the House chamber Panjae Dayak Iban influenced by the needs of today's society, such as the kitchen (Uji Bilik) and lounge (Kaki Lima) contained in the house being brought forward Panjae.Keyword: Rumah Panjae, Changes In Space

Abstract

Dampak positif pengembangan pariwisata dapat dilihat dari pembangunan sarana dan prasarana pariwisata yang menyerap banyak tenaga kerja. Perkembangan pariwisata Kabupaten Malang di sisi selatan terutama Pantai Balekambang, memang belum dapat optimal akibat banyak kendala yang masih belum dapat diselesaikan. Untuk menunjang hal tersebut diperlukan adanya kajian mengenai Pengembangan Kawasan Wisata Balekambang untuk mengetahui permasalahan dan pengembangan potensi sehingga membantu peran serta Balekambang dalam sektor pariwisata Kabupaten Malang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik Pantai Balekambang, mengetahui potensi dan masalah serta menyusun strategi pengembangan di kawasan wisata Pantai Balekambang. Analisis yang digunakan pada penelitian ini deskriptif evaluatif dan preskriptif. Hasil studi penelitian ini adalah posisi strategi pengembangan kawasan wisata Balekambang adalah pada kuadran 1 dengan konsep Rapid Growth Strategy, yaitu strategi petumbuhan aliran cepat untuk diperlihatkan pengembangan secara maksimal untuk target tertentu dan dalam waktu singkat.

Abstract

The home garden is a micro-scale landscape where interactions between humans and their environment intensively. One form of interaction is in the form of benefits provided by the home garden in the form of ecosystem services. This study aims to explore the landscape services of the home garden in Jenggolo Village, which are one of the villages that is part of a rice barn in Malang Regency. Data were collected by observation and semi-structured interviews. The results of the study indicate that the home garden provides complete ecosystem services including provisioning services, regulation services, and culture services. Provisioning services for food and cultural services are important home garden services for the household of Jenggolo Village, the majority of whom work as farmers and still cling to Javanese traditional culture. Awareness of the community towards the ecosystem services is one of the bases in determining a strategy for managing sustainable landscapes appropriately

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to identify and analyze the characteristics of dwelling pattems of Tengger Community at Wonokitri village. The method applied was deSCriptive. The results of the study show that the spatial structure of the traditional houses at Wonokitri village are based on Tenger's adat or customary regulation on division of space that is called the seven po. The house functioning as a home stay that Is designated for tourists there are some additional spaces that Is not In accordance with the seven po concept anymore. The spatial structure of a home stay usually form front-back and left-right pattems that is based on the function and utilization of the spaces. In the traditional houses of Tengger community at Wonokitri village the hierarchical division of the space is based on the sacred and profane criteria defined by philosophy of Tengger's adat or customs about the Lord of the house. There are two pattems of house facing orientation towards the roads, that is North-South orientation and East-West one whereas most of the houses are facing to the west. Tengger's adat or customs philosophy is also applied in the pattem of buildings arrangement design. This can be seen from the absence of house fence beside the existing spatial distance pattem between houses, the pattems of the front yard and side yard, as well as the pattem of putting the side entrance doors.

Abstract

Rumah bangsal merupakan salah satu tipe arsitektur rumah tradisional di Madura. Arsitektur Jawa yang menjadi asal usul dari arsitektur Madura tercermin pada bentuk rumah bangsal yang mengadopsi dari bentuk rumah joglo. Desa Larangan Luar merupakan desa di Kabupaten Pamekasan yang masih menyimpan kekayaan peninggalan arsitektur tradisional rumah bangsal. Rumah bangsal sebagai salah satu arsitektur tradisional Madura merupakan peninggalan yang sangat berharga dan patut dijaga keberadaanya. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis tipologi elemen arsitektur tradisional rumah bangsal di Desa Larangan Luar Pamekasan Madura. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada studi ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan tipologi. Pendekatan tipologi digunakan untuk mengelompokkan elemen arsitektur yang dimiliki oleh rumah bangsal dan untuk mengetahui perubahan arsitektur rumah bangsal. Metode pemilihan kasus bangunan menggunakan metode purposive sampling, menggunakan kriteria untuk memilih kasus bangunan. Hasil studi menemukan bahwa setiap elemen arsitektur rumah bangsal memiliki tipe-tipe elemen yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor budaya, sosial dan iklim.

Abstract

Kampong Arab at Malang City represents an urban kampong that was built within the influence of the Dutch Govemment's policy (Regering Regleement and Vremde Oosterllngen). Therefore, the kampong has colonial, Javanese, and Islamic styles in its architectural constructions. However, the modernization of the region brought changes in its visual appearance; many old buildings were replaced by modem ones. The objectives of this study were to identify the history and the characteristics ofthe old buildings at Kampong Arab by applying descriptive method (field observation and secondary data), to identify and analyze the changes of the old buildings by using evaluative description method (scoring method), and to identify and analyze the factors that cause changes to the old buildings by using evaluative description method (factor analysis). The results of the study show that 4 buildings underwent big changes, 27 buildings got moderate changes, and 11 buildings had only little changes. The causes of the changes of the old buildings are grouped into three, namely (1) factors of ownership and location, (2) factors of age and maintenance, and (3) factors that is related to social, cultural and family size affairs.

Abstract

Aceh Besar is a district which started the development of rumoh aceh architecture in Aceh Province. rumoh aceh has a building space pattern that consists of a ground level, space under the building, and upper space. The concept of building space pattern in rumoh aceh is unique. It introduces a triangular equilibrium of relations between men, God, and the environment. Non-physical factors affect the formation of spatial pattern building on rumoh aceh. The involvement of the Islamic concept affected indirectly the creation of rumoh Acehs spatial pattern. The purpose of this research is to find a non-physical factors which influence the bulding space pattern of rumoh aceh, as well as to find the ideas and knowledge of Rumoh aceh. However, the finding may not rule out the possibilities of further research which implements the concept of aceh rumoh space into a more modern residential space. This research used qualitative descriptive method which performs direct observation of the building space pattern formed, as well as finding the effect on non-phisical factors which are found in the observation area. The formation of the pattern also could be changed by considering the factors of kinship, customs, social, economic, and culture of the Acehnese.

Abstract

Symmetricity is part of the Javanese Cosmology that describes the perfection of Javanese. Symmetricity has been the main principle in Javanese house, not only in the faade of the house but olso the hierarchy of spatial inside. Kampung Bubutan is the ancient settlement experienced two phases of Government which strongly influenced the architectural character, which at the time became the Kingdom of Mataram (15th century) and the colonialism of the Netherlands (17th century up to the 19th century). The remains of the era of colonialism in Surabaya can still be felt by many colonial buildings surounding in the settlement. This study will explore how the principles of Javanese symmetricity in Kampung Bubutan colonial house, by using descriptive qualitative methods. Can the Javanese symmetricity still become principal in colonial house and survive? The results shows that the symmetricity of fasade became decreased at the last peroide of 19th century, when the NA-Romantiek was popular. Spatial symmetricity at the colonial houses have inconsistancy since the beginning of 19th century until the early 20th century. The main hierarchy of the spatial Javanese House, which are pendopo (verandah), pringgitan (foyer), dalem (living room) and senthong (bedroom), have become inconsistence since the end of 19th century periode
