This study aims to analyze the relationship between mastery of sarcastic and personification figurative language and the skills in writing fantasy story texts of Class VII Phase D students at SMP Negeri 2 Painan. The type of research used is quantitative with a correlational method. The research population consisted of 118 students. The sampling technique in this study used simple random sampling with a sample size of 31 people. The research instruments were an objective test of mastery of figures of speech and a performance test of writing skills in fantasy story texts. The tests were analyzed using the product moment and t-test. The research results can be concluded in three points, as follows. First, the mastery of figures of speech of seventh-grade students in Phase D at SMP Negeri 2 Painan is at a good qualification with an average score of 85.32. Second, the results of the fantasy story writing skills test of seventh-grade students in Phase D at SMP Negeri 2 Painan are at a very good qualification with an average score of 87.63. Third, there is a significant positive relationship between the mastery of figures of speech and the fantasy story writing skills of seventh-grade students in Phase D at SMP Negeri 2 Painan with a degree of freedom of n-1 (31-1=30) and a 95% significance level. H₀ is rejected and H₁ is accepted because the calculated t is greater than the table t, namely 12.96 > 1.68.
