Abstract

This study examines the roles of peer learning communities and parental participation in improving learning quality at SMP Negeri 1 Talangpadang. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, the research involved eighth- and ninth-grade students, homeroom teachers, and parents. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The study found that peer learning communities were established based on students' initiatives to meet the need for collaborative learning. These communities, though informal, were managed through simple planning, flexible role organization, collaborative learning, and participatory monitoring. Teachers acted as facilitators, motivators, and feedback providers, ensuring peer learning activities aligned with the curriculum. Parental involvement included motivational support, learning assistance, provision of learning facilities, and communication with teachers. The collaboration between peer learning communities, teachers, and parents positively influenced learning quality, reflected in increased student engagement, independence, academic responsibility, understanding of learning materials, and academic achievement.

The findings reveal that effective promotion strategies include systematic planning, structured organization of the admission committee, integrated implementation through offline and online media, and continuous supervision in addressing parents’ concerns. These strategies contribute to strengthening parents’ trust, as reflected in positive perceptions and increased enrollment numbers. Furthermore, the study highlights that the ability to address parents' concerns and offer transparent information is crucial for building lasting relationships. Abstract

The availability of facilities and infrastructure is a crucial factor in supporting the quality of learning in schools. The government, through the School Operational Assistance Fund (Bantuan Operasional Satuan Pendidikan BOSP), provides non-personnel operational funding; however, the effectiveness of its utilization is highly dependent on the quality of management at the school level. This study aims to describe and analyze the management of BOSP fund utilization in improving facilities and infrastructure at SMA Negeri 1 Gunung Alip. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. The research subjects included the school principal, BOSP treasurer, BOSP management team, and school committee. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that BOSP fund planning was conducted participatively through the School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS), but it was not fully based on priority needs analysis for facilities and infrastructure. Organizational management was implemented through the establishment of a BOSP team, although coordination among members was not optimal. Fund implementation followed technical guidelines but faced budget limitations and delays in disbursement. Supervision and reporting were conducted, yet continuous evaluation was not fully maximized. In conclusion, the management of BOSP fund utilization at SMA Negeri 1 Gunung Alip is categorized as fairly good; however, strengthening needs-based planning, team coordination, and continuous evaluation is required to optimize improvements in school facilities and infrastructure

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the plastic free school policy at SMA Negeri 1 Gading Rejo in an effort to realize a Green School. The research addresses the problem that although environmental policies have been formally adopted, their managerial implementation and sustainability remain inconsistent and require systematic evaluation. The objectives of this study are to analyze the processes of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the policy, as well as to identify constraints, strategies to overcome obstacles, and its impact on fostering environmental awareness within the school community. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, vice principals, teachers, canteen managers, and students. The findings reveal that the plastic free school policy has been implemented as part of the school’s institutional commitment and is integrated with the Adiwiyata Program. The policy has increased awareness and participation among school members in reducing single use plastics and promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. However, the implementation has not yet been fully optimal. Planning remains largely normative, organizational structures are not entirely formalized and technical, implementation lacks consistency particularly in the canteen area, and evaluation is not yet supported by systematic indicators and proper documentation. Strengthening operational planning, clarifying organizational roles, enhancing implementer capacity, and developing a sustainable evaluation system are therefore necessary to ensure a more significant and lasting impact in achieving a Green School.
