Abstract

The aims of this study to examine the use of durian seed flour in rations on fermentability and digestibility in beef cattle fattening rations. The study was conducted experimentally with 5 treatments of durian flour: 0, 8, 16, 24, and 32% and each treatment carried out 4 replications. In vitro technique was used to evaluate the fermentability and digestibility of the diet. The data were analyzed by the ANOVA test, the relationship between treatment and variables was analyzed by regression and correlation, while the relationship between variables was tested by Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The results showed that the higher the use of durian seeds decreased the lower (P<0.05) the content of volatile fatty acids (ALT), ammonia, dry matter digestibility (KCBK), and organic matter digestibility (KCBO). This pattern is indicated by a negative linear regression with a very strong correlation level (r) >80. Although there was a decrease, the use of durian seed flour at a level of 16% produced ALT, ammonia, KCBK, and KCBO respectively 141.38 mM, 3.74 mM, 60.46%, and 68.28%. The results showed that there was a relationship between KCBK and KCBO on ALT and ammonia which was very significant (P<0.01) and very strong (r>0.80), so it can be concluded that the use of 16% durian seeds gave the best results. Durian seeds have the potential to be used as a mixture of cow feed.

Abstract

The research was carried out at the UPTD of the Margawati Sheep and Goat Breeding Center, the Department of Food Security and Livestock of West Java Province with the aim of finding a body weight gain curve model for Garut sheep. Eight male Garut sheep aged 13-16 months were reared for 12 weeks and given a ration with a composition of 80% forage and 20% concentrate. The sheep were measured and weighed every week during the study to obtain data on body weight gain. The collected data were analyzed using Curve Expert. The results showed that body weight gain increased until week 10 and then decreased until week 12 forming a curve. The Polynomial model curve gives the best curve with the equation = 2.61+9.53X-3.50X2+0.676X3-0.03X4 and has a standard error value (SE) of 7.27 and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.94.

Abstract

Carrot waste grows in the highlands and has the potential to feed of dairy cows. The aim of this research is to utilize carrot waste in dairy cow ration and its impact on fermentability and digestibility in vitro. The study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design. Data were analyzed using variance analysis and Duncan's test. Analysis of the relationship between variables using correlation-regression analysis. The treatments (as fed) consist of: T0 = Concentrate + 100% Native Grass (Basal Ration), T1 = Concentrate + 50% Native Grass + 50% Carrot Leaves, T2 = Concentrate + 50% Native Grass + 25% Carrot Leaves + 25% Carrot Meal, T3 = Concentrate + 50% Native Grass + 50% Carrot Meal, each repeated 4 times. The results showed that the use of carrot waste did not affect ammonia production, but affected the production of flying fatty acids, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility. Flying fatty acids, digestibility of dry matter, digestibility of organic matter is higher in rations using carrot waste compared to basic rations. The highest value of volatile fatty acids, dry matter digestibility and organic matter digestibility were obtained in the treatment of 50% carrot tuber replacing field grass (T3), which were 139.53 mM, 56.21% and 58.86%, respectively. Between the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter has a very close relationship with the regression equation y = 0.9135x + 7.3654 and a correlation value of r = 0.8814. The results of this study can be concluded that the use of carrot waste can increase the production of volatilr fatty acids, dry matter digestibility and organic matter with the use of carrot male by 50% (as fed) as a substitute for field grass gives the best results.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate in vitro of Elephant grass silage using molasses and soy sauce sludge as additives with different length of ensilage. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with eight treatments and three replications. The data collected was carried out by variance and Duncan's test. The elephant grass is carried out by the ensilage process using molasses and soy sauce sludge additives as much as 5% with an incubation time of 3, 6, 9, and 12 weeks. The results showed that the incubation time resulted in the concentration of volatile fatty acids, dry matter, and organic matter digestibility which were significantly different (P <0.05), but not the ammonia (N-NH3) concentration. The use of soy sauce sludge additive resulted in higher volatile fatty acid and dry matter and organic matter digestibility compared to the use of molasses with the average volatile fatty acids (139.21 vs 102.92 mM), dry matter digestibility (73.34 vs 69.18%), and organic matter digestibility (66.47 vs 61.74%). The use of 5% soy sauce sludge with an ensilage duration of 12 weeks resulted in the highest average of volatile fatty acids and dry matter and organic digestibility, respectively, namely 150.67 mM, 76.10%, and 69.26%. In conclusion, the use of soy sauce sludge as much as 5% and 12 weeks of ensilage in making elephant grass silage resulted in the best fermentability and digestibility.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian berbagai tingkat chasey nut shell liquid (CNSL) terhadap mortalitas Tribolium castaneum pada dedak padi. Penelitian dilakukan secara ekperimental menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan lima macam perlakuan konsentrasi pemberian CNSL, yaitu R1 = 10%  R2 = 10%, R3 = 20%, R4 = 30%, R5, = 40%. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak empat kali. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi pemberian CNSL berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap mortalitas Tribolium castaneum dan susut dedak padi, dengan konsentrasi 40% menghasilkan mortalitas tertinggi.  Hubungan antara jumlah Tribolium castaneum dengan susut dedak padi membentuk persamaan regresi Y = 0,0013X+0,1695 dengan nilai R2 = 0,5701, sedangan antara jumlah Tribolium castaneum dan susut dedak padi memiliki hubungan yang erat dengan nilai r = 0,76. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dinamika profil protein (total protein, albumin dan globulin) plasma darah sapi perah pada masa transisi dengan Indigofera zollingeriana sebagai pengganti sebagian konsentrat serta penambahan mineral dalam pakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Dua puluh sapi perah Friesian Holstein (FH) dengan usia kebuntingan 7-8 bulan dibagi ke dalam empat perlakuan yaitu IZ0= 45% Rumput Gajah + 55% Konsentrat, IZ15= 45% Rumput Gajah + 40% Konsentrat + 15% Indigofera zollingeriana, IZ0M= 45% Rumput Gajah + 55% Konsentrat + 0,3 mg/Kg BK Se + 40 mg/kg BK Zn, IZ15M = 45% Rumput Gajah + 40% Konsentrat + 15% Indigofera zollingeriana + 0,3 mg/Kg BK Se + 40 mg/Kg BK Zn. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak lima kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sapi perah bunting yang diberikan Indigofera zolingeriana pada masa transisi menghasilkan perbedaan yang tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap nilai total protein, albumin dan globulin plasma darah sapi perah. Dinamika plasma albumin (-2, -1, 0, 1, 2) menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata (P<0,05) terhadap perlakuan pada berbagai minggu relatif beranak. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah Indigofera zollingeriana dan penambahan mineral dalam ransum tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap profil protein plasma darah (total protein, albumin, dan globulin) sapi perah pada masa transisi.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan Indigofera zollingeriana dalam ransum terhadap kinerja ayam sentul. Seratus empat puluh empat ekor ayam Sentul dialokasikan ke dalam 6 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Unggas tersebut dipelihara dari mulai day old chick (DOC) sampai umur 3 minggu dengan diberi ransum BR 501 CP, selanjutnya selama 7 minggu diberi ransum perlakuan. Ransum perlakuan tersebut adalah 1) R1 = ransum komersial (Sinta SP 22), 2) R2 = ransum yang biasa digunakan peternak, 3) R3 = ransum mengandung Indigofera zollingeriana 20% tanpa jagung, 4) R4 = ransum mengandung Indigofera zollingeriana 10%, 5) R5 = ransum mengandung Indigofera zollingeriana 15%, 6) R6 = ransum mengandung Indigofera zollingeriana 20% dan mengandung jagung. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dan data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan uji Duncan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi dan konversi ransum tidak menunjukan perbedaan yang nyata, tapi pertambahan bobot badan tertinggi (P<0,05) dicapai pada R1 dengan bobot badan akhir sebesar 833,25 g pada umur 10 minggu. Ransum R4 yang mengandung Indigofera zollingeriana 10% menghasilkan pertambahan bobot badan yang sama dengan R1 dengan bobot akhir penelitian sebesar 722 g. Kesimpulan Indigofera zollingeriana sebanyak 10% dapat diberikan dalam ransum ayam sentul.Kata kunci:  ayam sentul, performa, Indigofera zollingerianaABSTRACTThis study was aimed to utilize Indigofera zollingeriana in diets on the performance of sentul chicken. One hundred and fourty four sentul chickens were allocated into 6 treatments and 4 repetitions. This poultry was kept from DOC until the age of 3 weeks with BR 501 CP diets, next for 7 weeks fed treatment diets. The treatment diet was 1) R1 = commercial diet (Sinta SP 22), 2) R2 = diet commonly used by breeder, 3) R3 = diet containing Indigofera zollingeriana 20% without maize, 4) R4 = diet containing Indigofera zollingeriana 10%,  5) R5 = diet containing Indigofera zollingeriana 15%, 6) R6 = diet containing Indigofera zollingeriana 20% and containing maize. The study used a complete randomized design and the collected data were analyzed by Duncan test. The results showed that the consumption and conversion of diets did not show any significant difference, but the highest body weight gain (P <0.05) was achieved in R1 with final bodyweight of 833.25 g at 10 weeks. The R4 diet containing 10% Indigofera zollingeriana resulted in the same weight gain as R1 with the final weights of 722 g. Conclusion Indigofera zollingeriana as much as 10% can be given in sentul chicken diets.Keywords: performance, Indigofera zollingeriana, sentul chicken

Abstract

Jagung mengandung pati yang tinggi, sehingga mudah mengalami perubahan sifat fisik selama penyimpanan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat perubahan sifat fisik jagung kuning selama penyimpanan. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dan diuji dengan analisis varian. Bila terjadi perbedaan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Jagung disimpan selama 0 (P0), 1 (P1), 2 (P2), 3 (P3) dan 4 (P4) minggu dengan masing-masing diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Peubah yang diukur meliputi berat jenis, kerapatan tumpukan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan. Hasil menunjukan bahwa lama waktu mempengaruhi berat jenis, kerapatan tumpukan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan, dengan nilai tertinggi didapat pada perlakuan P4, yaitu penyimpanan selama 4 minggu dengan nilai beturut-turut 1,28 kg/dm3, 649 kg/m3 dan 775,75 kg/m3. Hubungan antara berat jenis dengan kerapatan tumpukkan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukkan masing-masing r(kerapatan tumpukan) = 0,9748 dan r(kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan) = 0,9764, pada persamaan regresi Y(kerapatan tumpukan) = 325,79X + 227,07, R2(kerapatan tumpukan) = 0,9503 dan Y(kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan) = 247,78 + 457,85, R2(kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan) = 0,9534. Kesimpulan, lama penyimpanan mempengaruhi sifat fisik jagung kuning dan anatra berat jenis dengan kerapatan tumpukan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukkan memliki hubungan yang sangat erat.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ransum yang mengandung bungkil kacang tanah terhadap fermentabilitas dan kecernaan in vitro. Ransum perlakuan disusun dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri atas 4 jenis yang mengandung 0, 6, 12, dan 18% bungkil kacang tanah. Setiap perlakuan diulang sebnayak 5 kali dan dilakukan analisis dengan menggunakan uji Duncan. Ransum perlakuan dievaluasi secara in vitro dan diukur konsentrasi VFA, N-NH3, persentase kecernaan bahan kering, kecernaan bahan organik dan populasi bakteri rumen. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bungkil kacang tanah sampai taraf 18% dapat meningkatkan VFA, N-NH3, kecernaan bahan kering, kecernaan bahan organik dan bakteri rumen (P<0,05) daripada ransum yang tidak mengandung bungkil kacang tanah. Peningkatan terjadi sampai pada taraf 12%, kemudian menurun pada taraf 18%. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bungkil kacang tanah dalam ransum dapat digunakan sebanyak 18%, namun penggunaan 12% memberikan fermentabilitas dan kecernaan yang terbaik.

Abstract

The use of shrimp waste as ruminant feed is constrained by the presence of chitin which is difficult to digest. This study aimed to determine the use of shrimp waste fermented with EM-4 as additional feed for female Thin Tailed sheep. A total of 18 female Thin-Tailed sheep with a body weight of 10.35±0.88 kg were allocated to 3 ration treatments containing fermented shrimp waste with EM-4, namely 5%, 7.5% and 10%. The sheep were kept for 90 days at CV. Bungah Tani Djaya's Livestock to measure its performance. The results showed that the use of fermented shrimp waste up to 10% did not interfere with the performance of femaleThin-Tailed sheep with the average dry matter consumption, crude protein consumption, total digestible nutrient (TDN) consumption, daily body weight gain, and feed conversion were 340,29 g/head/day, 31.68 g/head/day, 195.63 g/head/day, 61.80 g/head/day, and 6.18 respectively. The results of the study concluded that the use of shrimp waste fermented with EM-4 up to 10% can be used as additional feed for female Thin-Tailed sheep.
