Abstract

This reaserch was aimed to study about performance offemale Peranakan Ongole cattle that fed diet based on fermented straw and contains Indigofera zollingeriana. Sixteen offemale PO cattles which were allocated in 4 treatment diets consisting of :R1 = Fermented rice straw A (ad libitum) + 3 kg rice bran, R2= Fermented rice straw A (ad libitum) + 3 kg concentrate, R3= Fermented rice straw A (ad libitum) + 2 kg rice bran + 1 kg Indigofera zollingeriana, R4= Fermented rice straw B (ad libitum) + 2 kg rice bran + 1 kg Indigofera zollingeriana. The experimental used completed randomized design. One-way ANOVA and Ducan’s Multiple Range Testwere performed to compare the significant difference.  The T3 and T4 diets containing Indigofera zollingeriana resulted in higher growth gain andaverage daily gain with a lower feed conversion (P <0.05) than the non-Indigofera zollingeriana (T1 and T2) diets. Fermentation of rice straw using rice bran, molasses, and EM-4 used in T4 diet resulted in the highest growth gain and  average daily gain (P<0.05) and the lowest feed conversion (P <0.05) i.e. 88.00 kg, 0.807 kg/head/day and 11.2 respectively. Conclusion, the female PO cattles fed diet containing fermented rice straw by rice bran, molasses, and EM-4 (fermented rice straw B)(ad libitum) and 2 kg of rice bran and Indigofera zollingeriana 1 kg (asfed) produces the best performance.

Abstract

Cassava processing into bioethanol potentially generates waste as animal feed, but the content of nutrients is still low. This research aims to discover effect of urea and sulfur addition in solid waste bioethanol fermented by EM-4 on contents of crude protein and fiber. The research used the experimental methods with completely randomized design, factorial pattern 3 × 3 with 3 time of replicates. The first factor, supplementation of Nitrogen is Urea (N1=0%, N2=1,5%, N3=3%) and the second factor is supplementation of sulfur (S1=0%, S2=0,02%, S3=0,04%). Based on the results of variance analysis showed that there is an interaction between urea with sulfur on content of protein crude, but not on fiber crude. Addition of each urea and sulfur showed that the content of crude protein was increased (P<0,05) and the level of crude fiber (P<0,05) was decreased. Fermentation along 4 day on treatment of urea 3% and sulfur 0,04% produce crude protein and fiber of 14,44% and 6,97%, respectively. Conclusion, addition of urea 3% and sulfur 0,04% give the good results.Keywords: Bioethanol, EM-4 (Efective Microorganisms4), Crude Protein, Crude Fiber, Sulfur and Urea

Abstract

The evaluation of digested protein and total digestible nutrient  in rations containing melinjo peels could be done using several prediction models, but testing was needed to determine the level of accuracy. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of the prediction formula for protein digestibility and total digestible nutrient from rations containing melinjo peels of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Sixteen local ewes aged 11-12 monts with an initial body weight of 22.56 ± 1.46 kg were used to evaluate the value of digested protein and total digestible nutrient. The observational data were used to calculate the ratio of prediction to deviation value in assessing the accuracy of various prediction models for digested protein, namely Wardeh (1981) and Knight's and Harris (1966) models, while total digestible nutrient, namely Sutardi (2001), Wardeh (1981), and Harris et al. (1972) models. Wardeh (1981) and Knight and Harris’s (1966) digestible protein model, yielded ratio of prediction to deviation values of 3.28 and 3.37, respectively. Meanwhile, the ratio of prediction to deviation value on total digestible nutrient respectively from the highest value was Sutardi (2001), Wardeh (1981), and Harris et al. (1972) of 4.57, 3.68 and 1.91. In conclusion, Knight and Harris's (1966) digestible protein and Sutardi's (2001) total digestible nutrient model were the most accurate.

Abstract

This research aimed to study the effect of protein and energy on Diet Use Efficiency of female Garut sheep. Four different treatments diets of different protein to TDN (energy) ration such as R1=11.53%:63.13%; R2=10.78%:70.06%; R3=13.54%:63.18%; and R4=13.67%:69.18% were allocated to 20 heads of female Garut sheep with 7-8 months old and average body weight 15.72 ± 1.33 kg. Completely randomized design was used and collected data  was analyzed with Duncan’s test. The results showed that highest diet use efficiency and protein consumption (P<0.05) were seen in R4 treatment, 13.09% and 94.04 g/day. Meanwhile, TDN consumption did not have any different among R4 (480.23 g/day), R2 (474.80 g/day), and R1 (446.77 g/day) but they were higher (P<0.05) than R3 (370.87 g/day). In other hand, TDN digestibility of R2 and R3 were higher than R1 and R3. In conclusion, protein to TDN ratio of 13.67%:69.18% resulted highest diet use efficiency. Keywords: Female Garut Sheep, Digestibility, Protein, Total Digestible Nutrient

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of energy and protein balances on the growth of Garut ewes. The variables are daily consumption, daily weight gain, and conversion ratio value. The treatments given included R1 (12% protein and 60% TDN), R2 (12% protein and 65% TDN), R3 (14% protein and 60% TDN), R4 (14% protein and 65% TDN), R5 (16% protein and 60% TDN), and R6 (16% protein and 65% TDN). The feed is arrange using field grass, fine bran, onggok, soy sauce pulp, coconut cake, and premix. The design of the room uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 4 (four) replications. Data analysis used variance analysis and Duncan's multiple analysis. The results showed that various protein and energy ratio had a significant effect on daily consumption (whereas R1, R3, and R5 gave better results), but did not affect the daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio value. R6 is the best treatment because it is efficient in consumption and optimal in PBBH and ration conversion value.

Abstract

Limbah pertanian lokal  berupa daun ubi jalar dan ampas tahu yang berada di Desa Gudang berpotensi sebagai bahan pakan penguat untuk meningkatkan performa domba. Oleh karena itu untuk penerapannya perlu dilakukan penyuluhan dan demosntrasi plot agar dapat diadopsi oleh peternak. Kegiatan ini dlakukan secara bertahap, yaitu 1) observasi lapangan dan menghimpun kepustakaan, 2) penyuluhan, 3) demonstrasi plot. Penyuluhan telah dilakukan di SD Cikupa Desa Gudang Kecamatan Tanjungsari yang dihadiri oleh 24  orang peserta, lalu  dilanjutkan dengan demonstrasi plot. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatnya pengetahuan peternak dan masyarakat tentang potensi bahan pakan terurama bahan pakan penguat berupa daun ubi jalar dan ampas tahu. Uji coba di lapangan telah menunjukan bahwa domba yang diberi daun ubi jalar dan ampas tahu terjadi peningkatan bobot badan harian sebesar 55,8 g/hari. Kesimpulan, penyuluhan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta tentang bahan pakan dan performa domba meningkat dengan pemberian daun ubi jalar dan ampas tahu sebagai bahan pakan penguat.

Abstract

Jerami padi memiliki potensi sebagai pakan ruminansia, namun terkendala dengan kehadiran ligin yang menghambat kecernaan. Pengolahan dengan filtrat abu sekam padi diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas jerami padi. Penyuluhan telah dilaksanakan kepada peternak sapi potong untuk memberikan pengetahuan tentang pengolahan jerami padi dengan filtrat abu sekam padi. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyampaian langsung materi pelatihan kepada peternak melalui media zoom meeting yang diakhiri dengan sesi tanya jawab.  Sebanyak 59 peserta telah hadir dan aktiv mengikutinya sampai kegiatan berakhir serta sebagian peserta bertanya langsung. Hasil pretest dan postest menunjukan bahwa terjadi perubahan pengetahuan yang lebih baik pada peserta setelah dilakukan penyuluhan. Kesimpulan, Penyuluhan efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan peternak terkait pengolahan limbah pertanian (Jerami padi) dengan filtrat abu sekam padi.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui imbangan protein dan energi terhadap konsumsi dan pertambahan bobot badan domba garut betina bunting tiga hingga lima bulan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga perlakuan dan enam ulangan, dengan jumlah perlakuan 18 ekor domba bunting rataaan bobot badan ±35 Kg dengan koefesien variasi 8,63, dan dipelihara di kandang individu. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah imbangan protein dan energi yaitu P1 (10%;59%) P2 (12;63) P3 (13%;68%). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan imbangan protein dan energi yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh nyata P0.05 terhadap pertambahan bobot badan dan konversi ransum domba garut betina bunting tiga hingga lima bulan. Imbangan Protein dan TDN 13% dan 68% memberikan pengaruh optimal terhadap konsumsi dan pertambahan bobot badan domba betina bunting tiga hingga lima bulan karena pada dasarnya walaupun konsumsi ransum lebih tinggi pada imbangan protein energi 10:59 tetapi relatip sama pengaruh nya terhadappertambahan bobot badan dan konversi ransum. Kata kunci : Performa, domba garut bunting. Abstract This study aims to determine the balance of protein and energy for consumption and increase in body weight of pregnant ewe garut three to five months. The method used was the experimental method using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and six replications, with amount of treatment 18 pregnant sheep averaging ± 35 Kg body weight with variation of 8.63 coefficients, and maintained in individual cages. The treatments used were protein and energy balance, namely P1 (10%; 59%) P2 (12; 63) P3 (13%; 68%). The results of this study showed that different protein and energy balance had a significant effect of P 0.05 on body weight gain and conversion of pregnant female garut rations from three to five months. 13% and 68% Protein and TDN balance provide optimal influence on the consumption and body weight gain of pregnant ewe three to five months because basically even though dry matter consumption is higher in the energy protein balance of one to one but relatively the same effect on body weight gain and ration conversion. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh imbangan rumput gajah dan konsentrat terhadap lingkar, lebar dan dalam dada domba Garut jantan umur 16-18 bulan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga perlakuan dan enam ulangan, sehingga jumlah ternak yang digunakan 18 ekor domba Garut umur enam belas hingga delapan belas bulan dengan  bobot badan 31-35 Kg dengan koefisien variasi lingkar dada 4,43% lebar dada 9,56% dan dalam dada 5,45% dan dipelihara dalam kandang individual. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah imbangan rumput dan konsentrat yaitu P1 (80% rumput gajah + 20% konsentrat), P2 (60% rumput gajah + 40% konsentrat) dan P3 (40% rumput gajah+60% konsentrat). Variabel yang diamati terdiri dari lingkar, lebar dan dalam dada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  imbangan rumput gajah dan konsentrat tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap lingkar, lebar dan dalam dada domba Garut jantan umur enam belas hingga delapan belas bulan. Kata kunci: Lingkar Lebar Dalam Dada, Domba,  Rumput Gajah, Konsentrat.

Abstract

Silase adalah teknik pengawetan pakan melalui proses ensilase. Kualitas silase tergantung pada kecepatan proses fermentasi untuk membentuk asam laktat. Pembuatan silase membutuhkan bahan tambahan (aditif) untuk mempercepat proses ensilase. Bahan aditif yang dapat digunakan yaitu dedak fermentasi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama fermentasi pada penggunaan dedak fermentasi terhadap kandungan lignin dan selulosa silase tebon jagung. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada 03 Februari 2021–19 Maret 2021 di Cowla Farm, Dusun Gembor, Desa Cikembulan, Kecamatan Sidamulih, Kabupaten Pangandaran, dan di Laboratorium Nutrisi Ruminansia dan Kimia Makanan Ternak Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Sumedang. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) 3 perlakuan dan 7 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas lama fermentasi 7 hari, 14 hari, dan 21 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh terhadap kandungan lignin dan selulosa silase tebon jagung. Lama fermentasi optimal yang menghasilkan kandungan lignin terendah (7,55%) dan selulosa terendah (23,07%) yaitu 21 hari.
