Abstract

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a non-communicable disease that, if untreated, can lead to severe health issues and even death. Anxiety caused by health problems can contribute to elevated blood pressure at any age. This study analyzed the effects of combining Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) with binaural beats music on anxiety and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The research used a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control groups and involved 44 hypertensive patients from the Sematu Jaya Health Center, selected through purposive sampling. The independent variable was the combination of PMR and binaural beats music, while the dependent variables were anxiety and blood pressure. Results from the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) showed significant effects on anxiety (p = 0.000, Eta² = 0.690), systolic blood pressure (p = 0.000, Eta² = 0.455), and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.000, Eta² = 0.516). These findings indicate that the combination of PMR and binaural beats is effective in reducing both anxiety and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This intervention is simple to implement and can be used as a nursing intervention to improve patient care in health centers.

Abstract

Malnutrition in children is a serious and persistent health problem in many rural areas. Environmental conditions, diet, and access to health services were relevant factors. This study aims to analyze the influence of these three factors on the incidence of malnutrition among school-age children. This cross-sectional study was conducted in December 2023 on 168 school-aged children in Kurima District, Yahukimo Regency. Simple random sampling was used. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analysed using regression. Environment (p=0.003), diet (p=0.008), and access to health services (p=0.027) had a significant influence on the incidence of malnutrition in school-age children both partially and simultaneously (p=0.000). Environmental factors, diet, and access to health services were able to predict 54.5% of school-age child malnutrition variables. Health professionals should consider these factors in solving malnutrition problems.

Abstract

Abstract

The wavelet transform is an improvement of the Fourier transform. The Fourier transform changes the domain from the signal domain to the frequency domain, while the wavelet transform changes the signal domain to the scale (dilation) and translation domains. Discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) can be used to reduce noise in images. In this study, level 1 and 2 DWT methods for image denoising are compared. Lena and Mandrill grayscale test images of 512×512 pixels were used. The wavelets used are Haar, symlets, biorthogonal, coiflets, and Daubechies wavelets. We compare the PSNR value and computation time for Lena and Mandrill images using DWT level 1 and 2. From the research results, the highest PSNR values are for DWT level 2. As for the fastest computation times, they are for DWT level 1.

Abstract

International humanitarian law (IHL) imposes a strict obligation on military leaders to protect civilians and prevent their troops from committing violations through the principle of command responsibility. However, field practices often deviate, especially during the Russia-Ukraine conflict that escalated since February 2022. This research aims to (1) describe the normative framework of command responsibility, (2) analyze the implementation of command accountability in the conflict, and (3) provide strategic recommendations to enhance the enforcement of IHL. The research design uses a normative-qualitative approach with case studies, where international legal instruments (Geneva Conventions, Additional Protocol I, Rome Statute) and International Criminal Court rulings are used as primary sources. Secondary data in the form of reports from leading NGOs (Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, ICRC) and peer-reviewed academic literature were analyzed through content analysis to examine the elements of knowledge, prevention, and enforcement by military commanders. Source triangulation and peer debriefing ensure the validity and reliability of the findings. The research findings reveal patterns of serious violations, including indiscriminate attacks, forced displacement of civilians, and destruction of humanitarian facilities, occurring without adequate prevention or enforcement efforts by the military command. Political obstacles, destruction of evidence, denial of jurisdiction, and limited institutional capacity hinder accountability. In conclusion, although the HHI framework has matured, its implementation requires strengthening scenario-based training, revising standard operating procedures for rapid investigations, and access protocols for international investigators. Further studies are recommended to involve field interviews and internal document analysis to enrich the understanding of command responsibility practices.
