Abstract

Fuzzy time series is a forecasting method that handles data uncertainty by applying fuzzy set theory. This study compares the forecasting accuracy of the Chen fuzzy time series method, modified using Fuzzy C-Means (FCM), and the Lee method in predicting Indonesian coal prices from January 2019 to December 2023. The Chen method is en hanced by generating fuzzy intervals through FCM to better reflect data distribution, while the Lee method uses weighted fuzzy logical relationships. Forecast accuracy is measured using Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The modified Chen method achieves a MAPE of 2.56% compared to 5.07% for the Lee method. These results show that cluster ing techniques like FCM can improve fuzzy time series forecasting. This contrasts with earlier studies that favored the Lee method and highlights the potential of adaptive interval construction for volatile commodity prices. The proposed modification offers a promising alternative for improving prediction accuracy in economic time series.

Abstract

Accurately determining the ripeness of oil palm fruit is crucial for ensuring the quality of palm oil. However, traditional manual methods are often time-consuming and less accurate. This study aimed to develop an automated system for detecting the ripeness of oil palm fruit by combining the Hue Saturation Value (HSV) model, Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithms. This system utilizes K-Nearest Neighbors to classify the relationship between color features extracted using the HSV model and texture features derived from GLCM analysis to categorize fruit ripeness. The color features represent the fruit's chromatic characteristics associated with ripeness, while the texture features provide information regarding surface patterns related to ripeness. The color features represent the fruit's color characteristics associated with ripeness, whereas the texture features provide information about the surface patterns related to ripeness. The results indicate that the system can classify oil palm fruit into four distinct categories: Over-Ripe, Ripe, Half-Ripe, and Raw. The dataset was divided with an 80:20 ratio, where 80% was allocated for training data and the remaining 20% for test data. An accuracy rate of 85% was achieved. The results of this study demonstrate that the developed system effectively classifies oil palm fruit images based on ripeness levels. This system supports a sustainable automated palm oil production model through accurate ripeness detection, thereby reducing reliance on manual methods and enhancing consistency and productivity in palm oil processing. These findings indicate that the proposed hybrid method is feasible for integration into an automated classification system to support decision-making in oil palm harvesting

Abstract

Candy is a product made from sugar which can cause health problems. The proportion of sugar with high calories can be replaced with isomalt which is low in calories, and honey which is beneficial to health. In addition, the use of synthetic flavours in candy can be replaced with essential oils such as patchouli oil. Product analysis was in the form of salivary bacterial growth inhibition and hedonic organoleptic tests to determine the samples' antibacterial activity and sensory characteristics. This research was conducted using two factors of a sugar formulation consisting of 3 levels, namely, G1, G2, and G3. The second factor was patchouli oil concentration consisting of 4 levels, namely N1, N2, N3, and N4. Data on the results of the antibacterial and hedonic activity tests were analyzed using a factorial, Completely Randomized Design (CRD). From the analysis of variance, it can be concluded that sugar formulation, patchouli oil concentration, and their interactions had a significant effect (P0.05) on the growth of salivary bacteria, patchouli oil concentration had a significant effect (P0.05) on hedonic aroma, sugar formulation had a significant effect (P0.05) P0.05) on hedonic texture and had no significant effect (P0.05) on hedonic colour and taste. The best treatment was obtained from the G2N2 sample with salivary bacterial growth of 34.50 6.02 colonies and an overall hedonic value of 3.05 (likes).

Abstract

About 80% of diabetic people have come from developing countries. Indonesia is seventh of diabetics. Diabetes is a disease as a result of metabolic disorder that caused by lack of insulin secretion and/or insulin do not work properly, so that the sugar highly accumulated in blood (characterized by hyperglycemia). Normally, range of blood sugar is 70 - 110 mg / dL before meals and less than 140 mg / dL after meals. One therapeutic approach to control blood sugar level is to inhibit the activity of starch hydrolysis enzymes, namely -amylase and -glucosidase. The active compounds of plant extracts have a unique and diverse structure compared to synthetic ones. This characteristics are important because the inhibition of enzyme activity by active compounds from plant extracts is known to make the formation of chemical bonds (affinity) between the active compounds and enzymes. A number of active compounds from plant extracts such as tannins, flavonoids, polysaccharides, saponins, terpenoids are known to inhibit the activity of -amylase and -glucosidase. In this study, we discuss some active compounds that inhibit -amylase and -glucosidase enzyme from plant extracts.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Unintended pregnancy (UP) among young mothers is a pressing reproductive health issue that has drawn widespread attention globally. This phenomenon is deeply concerning as it poses serious physical and psychological risks, particularly for young mothers, and also endangers the well-being of their newborns. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of behavior-based midwifery counselling interventions in preventing unintended pregnancies among young mothers. Methods: This pre-experimental pre-post-test study involved 102 randomly selected young mothers under 20 years old who were at risk of unintended pregnancy and not using contraception. The sample size was calculated using General Power Analysis. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and observation sheets. The intervention consisted of six weekly counseling sessions covering unintended pregnancy, contraception, reproductive health, attitude change, behavioral decision-making, and reinforcement. The study followed CONSORT guidelines for non-randomized trials and received ethical approval from Universitas Muhammadiyah Palopo (Protocol No. 045/KEP/III.3.AU/F/2024). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test in SPSS v28.. Results: The findings revealed significant improvements in knowledge (from 33 to 83), attitudes (from 40 to 80), and behavior (from 30 to 70) after the intervention. Wilcoxon test results indicated statistically significant differences before and after the intervention across all three variables (ρ < 0.001; < α = 0.05). Conclusion: Behavior-based midwifery counselling is effective in preventing unintended pregnancy among young mothers. This study recommends implementing structured counselling programs and midwife training for more effective prevention strategies.

Abstract

Stunting is an irreversible growth disorder caused by a lack of nutritional intake during pregnancy (during 1,000 HPK), therefore, babies aged 0 to 2 years must receive balanced and optimal nutritional intake, because this period is the golden period of growth and development. child. Stunting is caused by a lack of understanding about how to overcome health problems (nutrition intake), therefore it is necessary to prevent stunting as an effort to increase health knowledge through education. Community service aims to find out how education about fulfilling nutrition in efforts to prevent stunting has an impact on increasing knowledge. The method of implementing counseling is carried out through face-to-face meetings and discussions which are considered more effective, where the activity begins with giving a pre-test questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge of mothers of toddlers, then the presentation of the material that takes place allows the audience to pay attention and focus on audio-visual videos regarding nutritional needs. To prevent stunting, evaluation of the results of the activity is carried out by administering a post-test questionnaire in the form of questions regarding the material that has been presented. This community service was carried out on September 18 2023 in Salekoe sub-district, East Wara sub-district, Palopo City, attended by 40 participants, all of whom were mothers of toddlers. The results showed that there was a significant influence on increasing respondents' knowledge before and after being given counseling with a p-value = 0.00 (p<0.05), where there were 20% of respondents who had good knowledge during the pre-test and this increased to 55% of respondents at the time of the post-test, 25% of respondents had sufficient knowledge about stunting at the time of the pre-test and this increased to 32.5% of respondents at the time of the post-test, 55% of respondents had insufficient knowledge at the time of the pre-test and decreased to 12.5% of respondents at the time post-test. The next follow-up is that health workers are expected to be able to use audio-visual videos in efforts to prevent stunting to increase knowledge among mothers of toddlers so that they can reduce the prevalence of stunting.
