Abstract

To solve the waste problem in Indragiri Hulu Regency, the Regency Government built a Landfill (TPA). This waste Landfill (TPA) is located at Jalan Batu Canai, Pematang Reba Village, Rengat Barat District. However, the management of this TPA has experienced various obstacles so that it does not run optimally so it is interesting for further research. This research was conducted in August 2020 at the Batu Canai waste landfill (TPA) using survey methods, literature study and interviews. The type of data used in the form of a combination of quantitative and qualitative research will be described descriptively. The variables of this study include 1.) The existing condition of Batu Canai Waste Landfill (TPA) Pematang Reba Village, 2) The impact of the existence of Batu Canai Final Disposal Site (TPA) of Batu Canai Garbage in Pematang Reba Village on the environment, social and economy according to the perceptions of the community around the TPA , 3) Management strategy of Batu Canai waste landfill  (TPA) Pematang Reba Village. The existing condition of TPA Batu Canai in terms of facilities and infrastructure is quite adequate, although some infrastructure and operational facilities are damaged. From the calculation results, the estimated service life of Batu Canai waste landfill (TPA) is 8 years and 9 months. For the impact of the existence of TPA Batu Canai, according to the community's perception around the TPA, from a socio-economic perspective, their response was positive and from an environmental perspective, their response was negative. Meanwhile, the alternative management strategies for Batu Canai waste landfill were analyzed through SWOT analysis. From the results of the SWOT analysis, it was found that the condition of the TPA was in Quadrant III and the right alternative strategy for managing the Batu Canai Final Processing Site (TPA) in Pematang Reba Village was a WO (Weaknesses-Opportunities) strategy, namely 1) Optimizing the Controlled landfill system, 2) Support Government to establish a special agency for managing TPA, 3) Utilizing good waste processing technology to process organic waste into bio energy, 4) Empowering and fostering communities to establish a Waste Bank.

Abstract

Swamp eel is one of the freshwater fish that live in the waters around the Riau Main Stadium. This research aims to understand the growth pattern, feeding habit and to determine the type of food present in the fish’s stomach. This research was carried out in September-October 2020. Sampling was conducted five times, once/week, using a fish rod and bamboo fish trap. There were 52 fishes captured (TL 291-613 mm and weight 30-132 gr). The stomach content was analyzed using a volumetric method and the Preponderance Index (PI) of each type of food was calculated. The length-weight relationship shown that the growth of female, intersex and male was negative allometric (b=2.40 in female, b=1,56 in intersex and b= 2,02 in male). Results showed that the food of M. albus in the waters around the Riau Main Stadium consists of insects (PI 49%), fish remains (PI 32%), mollusc (PI 9%), plants (PI 9%) and unidentified materials (1%). Based on data obtained, this fish categorized.

Abstract

A study aims to understand the morphological characteristics and growthpattern of Wallago leerii obtained from the Kampar River has been conducted.Morphological characteristics studied were sex ratio, morphometrical and meristicalcharacteristics and also growth pattern (length-weight relationship, condition factorsand otolith) of the fish. During the sampling period, 346 fishes were caught (125males and 221 females). Body length and body weight of the males ranged from330 to1020 mm and 260-10500 gram, while that of the female was 300-920 mmand 140 - 8700 gram respectively. Sex ratio of the fish was 1 : 1.8, it means thatduring the reproductive activities, the number of female may more than the male (1male may fertilize 1.8 females).Equation of body length-weight relationship of the male was W = 384.0L0.068, , while that of the female was W = 374.5 L0,083, and that of all fishes (maleand female) was W = 378.8L0.073. Correlation coefficient (r) was 0.924 for themales and 0.950for females. It means that increasing body length is alwaysfollowed by increasing body weight and growth pattern of the Wallago sp wasallometric. Condition factor of the fish was 0.0517-0.2016, (0.0517-0.2016 formales and 0.0519-0.1447 for females). Based on these data, it can be concluded thatthe fish body was slightly compressed. Keywords : Wallago leerii, sex ratio, growth pattern,Otolith

Abstract

This research was conducted from July to September 2008. It was aimedto understand the growth rings pattern in the otolith of Channa striata. Thirthyfour fishes were collected with variations sizes. Growth rings pattern in the otolithwas studied by shaving the otolith, following methods described by Windarti(2007). The number of rings were counted and their pattern were described. Results shown that growth ring pattern in the otolith is varied, the ringsare consisted of thick and thin rings. Many fishes have several thick rings aroundthe nucleus of the otolith, while few fishes have thin rings around the nucleus. These data shown that many fishes faced growth related problems when they areyoung as it is indicated by the presence of thick rings around the nucleus. It ispredicted that small/young fish may not be able to tolerate water quality changingdue to the presence of pollutant.
