Abstract

This study addresses the low levels of emotional intelligence among learners at the Indonesian Nation's Character Moral Training Foundation, which stems from abstract, one-way moral learning methods that fail to foster emotional regulation. The purposes of this study are to describe the implementation of Canva-based interactive e-book media, determine learners' emotional intelligence levels, and ascertain the extent of the interactive e-book's influence as an instructional stimulant on learners' emotional intelligence. This study is a quantitative research employing a quasi-experimental approach with a One-Group Time Series Design model. The study involved all 35 learners at the foundation as a total sampling size. Data were collected through a questionnaire based on the Situational Judgment Test (SJT), which demonstrated high reliability (α= 0.842), and complemented by daily behavior observation sheets. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis, tendency testing, simple linear regression analysis, and the Paired Sample T-Test. The results indicated that the Canva-based interactive e-book was systematically implemented through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages via a guided screen-sharing method. Furthermore, statistical analysis confirmed that the implementation of the Canva-based interactive e-book provided a significant contribution, accounting for a 66.4% variance in the improvement of learners' emotional intelligence (Fcount = 68.45, p = 0.000 < 0.05). The Paired Sample T-Test further verified that Ha is accepted (p= 0.000). In conclusion, the implementation of Canva-based interactive e-book media exerts a significant and positive influence on enhancing the emotional intelligence of learners.

Abstract

Children's creativity is an ability that needs to be developed from an early age. However, the creativity of children at Syukur Anak Indonesia Orphanage, Medan, has not yet developed optimally. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of implementing upcycling through making scrunchies on children's creativity at Syukur Anak Indonesia Orphanage, Medan. This study employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population consisted of 36 children, while the sample comprised 22 children aged 7–15 years selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a creativity test developed based on four aspects of creativity: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Data were analyzed using a normality test and hypothesis testing through a paired sample t-test. The results showed that the children's creativity score increased from 1,208 in the pretest to 1,687 in the posttest, representing an increase of 479 points or 39.65%. Improvements occurred across all creativity aspects, namely fluency (29.48%), flexibility (20.86%), originality (62.27%), and elaboration (51.67%). The hypothesis test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a calculated t-value of 7.697, indicating that Ha was accepted and H₀ was rejected. Therefore, the implementation of upcycling through making scrunchies had a significant effect on children's creativity at Syukur Anak Indonesia Orphanage, Medan.

Abstract

Individuals with visual impairments often face various challenges in obtaining formal employment due to limited access to the labor market, low levels of social acceptance, and a lack of job opportunities that match their abilities. Therefore, entrepreneurial skills serve as an alternative means of improving their economic independence. This study aims to analyze entrepreneurship skills training for visually impaired individuals at SLB-A Karya Murni Medan, focusing on the aspects of planning, implementation, and the supporting and inhibiting factors of the training program. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with an approach that emphasizes in-depth observation of the phenomenon under study. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the implementation of entrepreneurship skills training.The findings reveal that the planning of the entrepreneurship training program was conducted systematically through the identification of participants’ needs, the determination of training objectives, the preparation of learning materials, and the provision of facilities and infrastructure tailored to the conditions and needs of visually impaired individuals. The implementation of the training was carried out effectively through direct practice, demonstrations, and individual mentoring, which successfully enhanced participants’ knowledge, skills, and self-confidence. Supporting factors included the commitment of the management, instructors, and mentors, participants’ motivation, and a conducive learning environment. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consisted of limited funding, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, a shortage of instructors, and restricted access to product marketing. Overall, the entrepreneurship skills training program at SLB-A Karya Murni Medan has made a positive contribution to improving the skills and independence of visually impaired individuals, providing them with valuable preparation for entering the workforce and establishing independent businesses.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the factors causing senior high school students to drop out in Simodong Village, Sei Suka District, Batu Bara Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The sample consisted of 19 school dropouts selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis. The results showed that the causes of school dropout consisted of external and internal factors. The most dominant external factors were parents' socioeconomic condition and parents' perception of education, each accounting for 42.11%, while the dominant internal factor was students' low learning interest at 36.84%. It can be concluded that external factors have a greater influence on school dropout than internal factors.

Abstract

This study aimed to: (1) determine the educational level of members of the Women's Farmer Group in Rianiate Village; (2) examine their level of understanding of household waste management; and (3) analyze the relationship between educational level and understanding of household waste management. This research employed a quantitative approach using an correlational design. The sample consisted of 31 members of the Women's Farmer Group, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test. The findings revealed that the respondents' educational level was generally in the moderate category, with most participants having completed primary and secondary education. Their understanding of household waste management was categorized as high, although the trend analysis indicated that the level of understanding was not evenly distributed among respondents. Furthermore, the Pearson Product-Moment correlation analysis yielded a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.610 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a positive and statistically significant relationship between educational level and understanding of household waste management. These findings suggest that higher educational attainment is associated with a better understanding of household waste management among members of the Women's Farmer Group.
