Abstract

Visual-spatial intelligence is one of the multiple bits of intelligence that important to solve a mathematics problem, especially in geometry. This present research investigates the profile of students’ visual-spatial intelligence. This research focuses on analysis and description of students’ visual-spatial intelligence level generally and its aspect when solving the geometric problem. Visual-spatial intelligence aspect, there is imagination, pattern seeking, problem-solving, and conceptualization. Qualitative research with case study strategy was used in this research. The subject in this research involved 12 students of 11th grades chosen with purposive sampling. Data in this research were students’ visual-spatial intelligence test result and task based interviews. They were asked to complete visual-spatial intelligence test before interview. The data was analyzed based on visual-spatial intelligence aspect of female and male students. The results of this research show that female students have better pattern seeking and conceptualization. Meanwhile, male students have better in imagination and problem-solving.

Abstract

This study described the kinds of a question asked by novice teacher on mathematics learning process of senior high school. The data were collected by passive participation observation and a semi-structured interview. The validity of data was obtained through the triangulation of method, triangulation of time and member check. The data analysis technique used in this study is descriptive analysis. The result of this study showed that at the preliminary activity, the question asked by the novice teacher based on objective only compliance question. At the main activity, the novice teacher asked compliance question, prompting question, probing question and sometimes rhetorical question. The kind of questions based on the cognitive dimension of Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy that was asked by novice teacher only remembering question. At the main activity, the novice teacher asked the question of remember, understand, apply, analyse and evaluate. At the closing activity, the teacher does not ask the question based on objective and Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims at: 1) investigating elegibility of comic-illustrated mathematics module on the materials of scale and comparison for grade VII students of SMP/MTs, 2) investigating the effectiveness of comic-illustrated mathematics module on the materials of scale and comparison for grade VII students of SMP/MTs. This study was a research and development (R & D) in mathematics learning at SMP/MTs. The applied development model was a development model postulated by Borg and Gall modified by Sukmadinata, which consists of three stages, including: 1) preliminary research, 2) development, and 3) field testing, each of which contains several steps. The product validation process was carried out by material experts, media experts, and respondents. The effectiveness testing for the module carried out in MTs Negeri Ngawi. The data collecting instrument used was the mathematics performance test. The content validity was measured by validators. The reliability test for measuring the test instrument applied KR-20 formula and the discriminatory power used product-moment correlation formula by Karl Pearson. The balance test was carried out by using t-test. The prerequisite tests covered normality test using Lilliefors testing method and homogeneity test using Barttlet method. The experimental design for this research was randomized post-test-only control group design. On the basis of the research findings and development, the research is concluded: 1) the comic-illustrated mathematics module was feasible to be used in learning process, the comic-illustrated mathematics module is considered feasible when the evaluation result from retriever is “good”, 2) the average students learning achievement in experiment class is better than that in control class, this conclusion is in accordance with the hypotheses proposed, namely learning with comic-illustrated mathematics module on the materials of scale and comparison for grade VII of SMP/MTs is more effective than direct learning without comic-illustrated mathematics module. Keywords: Learning Module, Mathematics Comic, Scale and Comparison.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the errors made by students in solving of maximum and minimum derivative values problem-solving test. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative method. The subjects consisted of five twelfth grade students of senior high school in Puding Besar who were selected by purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study are derivative problem-solving test and interviews. The results of student answers were analyzed using the Newman’s error analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, the most common error made by students were errors in the comprehension errors. The most students do not understand the concept of solving the problems of maximum and minimum derivative values. Students only work on algebraic questions without using concepts of maximum and minimum derivative values

Abstract: This research is aimed to describe the skills in geometry of visually impaired inclusion students on rectangular learning. This research was qualitative research. The research subjects were grade IX student of SMP MIS Surakarta. There were 3 students consisting of 1 low vision student, 1 totally blind when he was 15 years old, and 1 totally blind since she was born. The procedure of selecting the subject used in this research was purposive sampling technique. The data of research was collected through interviews based on rectangular task. The data was analyzed based the theory skill in Geometry’s of Hoffer. The steps are : analyze all data are available from several sources, perform data reduction, compiling data in units, categorization the obtained data unit which shows each information on skill in Geometry of blind students in SMP MIS Surakarta as well as implementation of inclusion programs at SMP MIS Surakarta’s data. Skill in Geometry’s data was validated using time triangulation and  implementation of inclusion programs at SMP MIS Surakarta’s data was validated using sources triangulation. The result of this research show that: 1) skills in geometry of low vision student cannot reach level 2 at all; 2) skills in geometry of student with totally blind when he was 15 year old can reach level 2 just on drawings skill. However, he cannot mastering level 0 on drawings skill well; 3) skills in geometry of student with totally blind since she was born cannot reach level 2 at all; 4) factors that affect skills in geometry of the students are availability of textbooks for students with visual impairment, the role of special guidances teachers, availability and uses of learning medium, teacher who has skills to handle student with visual impairment. Keywords: Geometry, Skills in Geometry, Visually impaired Student, Inclusions Student, Rectangular

Abstract

Abstract:For example G is a connected and nontrivial graph. The distance between two vertices u and v in G is the shortest path between vertex u and v which is denoted by d (u, v). Suppose that there is a sequential set of  of vertex n which is different from G, then the representation of vertex v to W is a sequential pair of . The set W is called as local distinguishing set if for each pair of vertex u and v is adjacent to G. The local distinguishing set W with minimum cardinality is called as local metric base and its cardinality is called as local metric dimension of graph G denoted by . In this research, metric local dimension of Musical MGn and stacked prism graphs Ym is determined.  This is literature study by combining relevant references. The results state that local metric dimension in musical graphs is  for n and  for n > 3. Local metric dimension in stacked prism graph is  for even m and  for odd m.Keywords: local metric dimension, musical graph, stacked prism graph, local distinguishing set.

Abstract

The National Literacy Movement (GLN) refers to the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) states that literacy numeracy is one of the basic literacy that must be mastered in the 21st century. However, PISA results show that Indonesian students have low literacy numeracy skills. The Ministry of Education followed up to replace the National Examination (UN) with a Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM). AKM is an essential competency assessment that is tested on students used to measure learners' reasoning ability when faced with problems that require literacy and numeracy skills, namely problems that require basic mathematical knowledge. This study uses the method of literature study. This study aims to examine efforts to improve numeracy capabilities. Efforts that can be made to improve numeracy skills are by providing materials and integrating learning with ethnomathematics approaches, giving higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) that are associated with real life, and utilization of interactive learning games
