Abstract

The design of content created by influencers and entrepreneurs to enhance performance and attract customer interest includes visual graphic design for logos or content creation. This study aims to determine if Canva as a design tool can be used for promotion by content creators. The principles of Visual Communication Design from Gestalt Theory include form similarity, pattern continuation, proximity, closure of form, and imagery. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The technique for determining informants is purposive sampling from two content creator accounts, namely Anggel Kitty Store and Traccy.id in November 2023. The research findings are firstly, form similarity with the use of color in the design, both using visual messages in the design; secondly, the continuity of patterns in pictures, colors, and fonts in the design and the presence of informative messages; thirdly, the proximity of positions grouped according to type and function in the design, both using the logo layout in the design; fourth, closure of shape using sketch classes and squares in the design; and fifth, the core images used by content creators as visual messages in promotion. The designs created through Canva are used as promotional media for skincare, accessories, and makeup to be uploaded on Instagram, updated in Instagram stories, and to determine the design of posters to be promoted. Using Canva Pro is more appealing because it has more features than the standard Canva, and the designs also look better.

Abstract

This research is entitled "Utilization of Shopee Features as Friendshio Media". The rapid development of technology affects changes in the new communication style carried out by the community. With the development of this technology, online media is not only a means of communicating but also used as a fulfillment of individual needs. With this, current technological advances can change patterns in staying in touch between individuals efficiently. The purpose of this study is to determine the utilization of Shopee features as a medium for friendship. This research uses qualitative research methods and uses data collection techniques by means of observation and interviews. This study uses the Uses and Gratifications theory, the results of which show that the utilization of the THR Shopee feature and the Bank Transfer feature is an innovation that supports many activities between individuals to stay in touch in different ways, informants use this feature with their various needs. There are 5 dimensions of needs that are in accordance with the informants in the Uses and Gratifications theory in utilizing the Shopee feature as a gathering media, namely: cognitive needs related to information and knowledge of the surrounding environment, affective needs related to the pleasant experience of individuals in utilizing a medium, personal needs related to work or personality, social needs related to family or friends in the neighborhood, and tension release needs related to the individual's desire to release pressure after doing something.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of communication in determining acceptance of the BPNT program in Paku Haji Village, Central Bengkulu. The research method used in this research is research presented in a qualitative descriptive manner. The selection of informants was carried out using purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing and verification. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of communication in receiving BPNT is effective, seen from the first competency in communication between the government and officers who are able to provide motivation to recipients about improving community welfare. Knowledge of the BPNT program, its benefits and how to use it. Communication skills in conveying messages regarding the BPNT program effectively. The two communication media are using Infocus and preparing materials such as PowerPoint and WhatsApp social media. The three languages used in formal activities are Indonesian and when communicating with BPNT recipients use regional languages so they are easy to understand.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has encouraged the presence of social media which has influenced changes in people's lifestyles and communication patterns. One product of this technological development is YouTube. This research aims to find out the moral message in the Atap Negeri vlog on Fiersa Besari's Youtube in the video entitled "Gunung Patah-Bengkulu". This research is qualitative research using netnography methods. In this research, the author chose the 30 comments most frequently mentioned by netizens on comments pages. Then create coding which then produces 30 (thirty) abstractions which are then formed into 3 (three) categories by the author according to experts. The theory used in this research is computer mediated communication (CMC). The results of the research show that after watching this vlog video, many netizens' perspectives are directed in a positive direction because there are many moral messages that can be taken away which are expressed again by them through the comments page. There are several categories in this research, namely the category of human relationships with nature, the category of human relationships with themselves and the category of human relationships with other humans in the social environment. Netizens' comments in this category can be used as material to raise the enthusiasm of the national roofing team, especially for Fiersa Besari, so that they can create more quality climbing content and also serve as evaluation material for the local government to prevent poaching of protected animals and illegal cutting of trees.

Abstract

Currently, Instagram is widely used by various groups of people. Instagram makes people easy to access and get the information needed, especially in OOTD style. This study aims to determine the effect of using Instagram on OOTD style in Communication Studies Program Students at Dehasen University Bengkulu. Technology Determination Theory is the theory used in this study, also as an analysis knife to see how technology in the form of Instagram can affect human lifestyle, especially in OOTD style. To determine the effect of Instagram use on OOTD style, researchers used the t test, which shows that the results of the t value of 7.732 and t table of 75 are 1.995. Because the value of t count> t table or 7.732> 1.995, it means that Ha is accepted, it can be said that there is an influence between Instagram usage on OOTD style. This means that the more often you use Instagram, the more people know what OOTD Style is.

Abstract

Film is a medium of learning for the audience that is not only an entertainment, it can also convey direct messages through images, dialog and plays. Netflix has become one of the global streaming platforms that can be accessed in Indonesia since 2016. Dear David is a Netflix original movie in the genre of romantic fantasy drama that airs in 2023 directed by Lucky Kuswandi. The movie Dear David received a lot of debate, because this movie contains sexual fantasies in women. This research aims to find out how the dramaturgical analysis in the movie Dear David. The method used is a qualitative approach using Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis technique through three stages, namely representamen, object and interpretation. Each scene of the film illustrates that there is dramaturgy in the film Dear David through several scenes, namely heterosexuality, women are free to choose how to enjoy their freedom according to their respective tastes and styles. Femenism is that women have power that is arbitrary towards others and self-acceptance is a form of being able to accept their identity and respect others. The results of this study show that the dramaturgy in the film Dear David is depicted by the main character Laras that the story of the film Dear David shows the existence of a front stage showing her as an outstanding high school student and a back stage as a child with heterosexual sexual fantasies as evidenced by having a privacy fantasy blog. Overall, this movie provides an overview of the dramaturgical approach not what is done, but the reasons for how it can be done.

Abstract

online media is a combination of all components of text, video, audio and photos. Political news becomes a medium for the public or the press itself to convey political messages to political actors, both support and criticism. Prabowo Subianto is the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia who is running for President in 2024. One of Prabowo's programs if elected President is the Free Meal Program. This program was suddenly widely reported by the media, various reports about the program were in online media such as online media detik.com and VIVA.co.id. This research was conducted to analyze the online media detik.com and VIVA.co.id in framing news about Prabowo Subianto's Free Meal Program using the framing analysis approach model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The method used in this research is the framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki which uses a framing device consisting of four structures, namely, Syntactic Structure, Script Structure, Thematic Structure and Rhetorical Structure. The results of this research, detik.com media, in reporting on Prabowo Subianto's Free Meal Program, supports this program. This can be shown in the headline of the news. In the first news title, detik.com appears to explain Prabowo Subianto's Free Meal Program, which means that detik.com media reports on the positive side of the program. detik.com frames the news by selecting news sources, selecting quotes that support statements and information provided in the news. VIVA.co.id put the parties who gave counter statements and criticized the program, VIVA.co.id wants to show the public that is where the controversy is. Political news regarding the Prabowo Subianto Free Meal Program on the online media detik.com and VIVA.co.id has an impact on the knowledge, attitudes and perspective of the public who see the reality of the news framing of the program.

Abstract

This research is entitled public reception toward Ms. Glow for Men skincare Brand Ambassador Babe Cabiita and Marshel Widianto Ads Edition. The reason of the researcher made the MS Glow for men skincare brand ambassador Babe Cabiita and Marshel Widianto Ads edition as the object of research, is because this advertisement uses a Brand Ambassador who does not have a masculinity side as usually displayed by the media. This study aims to determine the public reception on Ms. Glow for Men skincare Brand Ambassador Babe Cabiita and Marshel Widianto Ads Edition. This research is a type of qualitative research with data analysis techniques using the Reception theory of Stuart Hall. Stuart Hall explained that the audience's meaning of a message in the media can be seen from three points of view, namely Dominant Hegemonic Reading, Negotiated Reading and Oppositional Hegemonic Reading. In this study, researchers also conducted Pierce Semiotics Analysis on 6 out of 10 scenes in Ms. Glow for Men skincare Brand Ambassador Babe Cabiita and Marshel Widianto Ads Edition to make it easier for researchers to find out the meaning of the advertisement. The results of the research that the researchers conducted on 4 informants only produced 2 categories of audiences, namely the position of Dominant Hegemonic Reading and Negotiated Reading. The Dominant Hegemonic Reading position is a position where the audience fully accepts the meaning contained in the advertisement, there are 2 informants who are in this position, while the Negotiated Reading position is a position where the audience accepts but modifies the message in the advertisement, there are 2 informants who are in this position.

Abstract

Advances in information and communication technology have opened a new stage for people to obtain information autonomously. This research aims to determine the narcissism of women wearing the hijab among students on the Dehasen Bengkulu University TikTok application. This research uses Santrock's theory of narcissism with qualitative research methods. The subjects of this research consisted of 3 informants from the 2020 and 2023 Communication Science Study Program at Dehasen University. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews and documentation. From the results of the author's observations, it can be seen that the form of narcissism found in women who wear the hijab is those who love themselves without caring about other people's opinions about themselves, who make trending videos on the TikTok application using the hijab, and often use excessive filters. Such as using lipstick filters, false eyelashes and bleach on their faces to make them look more beautiful and show off their strengths. When live, they also show body language and body shape while swaying and wearing tight clothes while wearing the hijab. It is better for women who wear the hijab not to do this. However, the informant considered this appearance to be a simple thing, because according to the informant, wearing the hijab was an obligation, while creating trends on the TikTok application was just self-indulgence and entertainment.

Abstract

In this modern era, there are many applications that can be used as a forum for online dating communication. Having applications like Instagram really helps people communicate long distances without having to be in the same location. From Instagram you can see the online dating process that occurs. Through the Instagram application, someone can do online dating which is relatively more effective in communicating online. In interacting using CMC, namely existence, time, form of communication and also use which allows someone to communicate without knowing time limits, the same existence and the communication that is formed is relatively more comfortable. This requires informants who have Instagram accounts that meet the criteria, such as the accounts @Luthfiyah, @fajar and @Riaayu. And the results showed that Instagram is very suitable as an online dating communication medium because the features available are relatively more complete and also safer in carrying out personal communication. On Instagram, someone can also post photos and videos that can be watched by other friends. According to the three informants, the online dating that occurred using Instagram ended in their relationship, or it could be said that they were officially dating.
