Abstract

The objectives of this study are to measure and analyze the factors that significantly impact the performance of Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) container shipping industry in Indonesia. This research will then formulate recommendations on SSCM performance improvement strategy using SEM-PLS method. The results show that currently the business actor and service user perceive the SSCM performance of container shipping industry in Indonesia as low. Furthermore, four latent variables give significant and positive impact to SSCM performance. The latent variables include Technology, Integrated Logistic System, Sustainable Market Orientation and Fair-Trade System. The Technology and Integrated Logistic System as the priority should be give more attention. The conclusion of the research result shows that strategy to improve the SSCM performance of container shipping industry in Indonesia must be carried out through a holistic approach and seen as a system. The managerial implication of this study is that the four latent variables of the model sorted, according to their priorities from the total effect coefficients, can be applied as a strategy to improve SSCM performance. Keywords: sustainable supply chain, container shipping, SEM, SSCM

Abstract

In 1990, grouper cultivation using floating net cages (KJA) was developed to meet market demand. This study aimed to assess the suitability and zoning of water towards the physical carrying capacity of the Lampung bay area for grouper cultivation in floating net cages (KJA). The suitability assessment was based on physical, chemical, and socio-economic aspects. The physical carrying capacity of the area was analyzed from the results of the suitability criteria. The area that met the suitability criteria of Lampung bay were high (67.64 ha), medium (5,838.17 ha), low (3,214.89 ha), and not suitable (35.95 ha). The next step is overlaying with zoning; it has a result that a decrease of the area of high suitability to (1,446. 28 ha), medium (23.71 ha), and low (440.05) ha and not suitable area increased to (7,226.62 ha). The physical carrying capacity of the Teluk Lampung area is 13,450 KJA units or with a production potential of 24,754 tons. With a decrease in the suitable area, the physical carrying capacity will decrease to 4,545 units of KJA or a production potential of 8,365 tons. The results of this study indicate that the overlay with the zoning plan reduces the area suitable for KJA cultivation activities which in turn causes a decrease in the physical carrying capacity of the area.

Abstract

The sustainable fisheries resources management  at the Karimunjawa National Park (KNP) is a very complicated effort. One of the serious issues is that the national park was declared by government when it has been inhabited by fisherfolk community. It is therefore very important to find out fisherfolk perception on sustainable fisheries resources management within the KNP.  In the present study, a model of fisherfolk perception on sustainable fisheries resources management at the KNP, which included: fisheries resources management, national park management, community participation, law enforcement, monitoring efforts, and technical- and policy- implementations. Analysis method used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with program analysis Lisrel 8.52. Total respondents surveyed were 189 fishermen. Results of model analysis SEM showed that fisherfolk perception on sustainable fisheries resources management at KNP expect: (1) surveillance efforts, (2) commitment on law enforcement, and (3) involvement of fisherfolk participation. Expected policies were (1) decentralization, (2) integrated approach, (3) balance proportion between welfare and conservation, (4) fair distribution of fish catch, and (5) regulation of market mechanism.

Abstract

Generally, fishery resources are open access which means that anyone can participate without having these resources. This is shown by an increase in the utilization of fish resources that will lead to a crisis in which when the rate of exploitation goes beyond the ability of regeneration that makes the catches more economical (economic overfishing). Moreover, this will take place in conditions of uncontrolled fishing. The main factor causing this crisis is the uncontrolled human intervention toward the existing fishery resources. The exploitation of these resources can lead to an imbalance between the input and the potential capture of fish resources so that it can lead to over-fishing, overcapacity, inefficiency arrest, resource rents decline, degradation of the resource stock and a decrease in production. The degradation impact of small pelagic fish resource, especially Layang fish in Ambon also is the reduction of producer welfare, especially the welfare of fishermen and coastal communities. This is due to, among others, the lack of control from the government as the authors,, and the lack of understanding of resource actors (local fishermen) about the nature of fish resources which are open access. Thus, the calculation of the depreciation of small pelagic fish resources, especially lyang fish, and welfare aspects which are considered important to know as a point of reference as well as an early warning signal to determine whether the extraction of small pelagic fish resources, especially layang fish in Ambon has exceeded their capabilities.

Abstract

Mangroves provide a wide range of ecosystem services. Therefore, the existence of mangrove ecosystem needs to be maintained ecologically, economically and socially. This study aimed to identify the mangrove ecosystem linkages with shrimp. Data used in this study were primary and secondary data to generalize a case study on shrimp and mangrove ecosystem linkages in Pabean Udik Village Indramayu regency. The economy analysis of the relationship between mangroves and shrimp used mathematical equations by Barbier and Ivar (1994). Mangrove ecosystem linkage with shrimp seen from the marginal productivity of mangrove area (MPM) was 153.454 tons per km2, while the marginal productivity of fishing effort (MPE) wais 0,305 tons per trip using the shrimp catching boat. The study showed that the decline in mangrove ecosystems area would affect the decline in shrimp production, and the increase in mangrove ecosystems area would affect the incrase in the number of shrimp production.

Abstract

Coastal areas have an important role in economic development. Development activities carried out on land and at sea can put pressure on ecosystems in coastal areas, thereby reducing the quality of the ecosystem services provided. Understanding the impact of development on ecosystems in coastal areas requires an economic assessment in order to provide input in the formulation of sustainable development policies. This article aims to estimate the economic value of ecosystems in coastal areas based on spatial. The economic valuation method used is the benefit transfer method, the travel cost method, and the replacement cost method. Mapping the economic value of coastal ecosystems based on spatial using Geographic Information System (GIS). The economic value of the coastal area is divided into 3 zones, namely zone 1, in the northern part of the Bontang River estuary, amounting to IDR 21,85 trillion/year; zone 2, between the Bontang River estuary and the Blusu River estuary amounting to IDR 48,20 trillion/year; and zone 3, in the southern part of the Blusu River estuary, amounting to IDR 45,67 trillion/year. The economic value of ecosystems in coastal areas based on the spatial obtained can explain the value lost due to ecosystem disturbances more specifically and clearly in certain zones.

Abstract

Ciletuh Bay has a natural magnificence that attracts local and foreign tourists. Tourist interest was reflected by the many visits demanding the government manage it properly to achieve social, economic, and ecological sustainability. Research on the assessment of cultural ecosystem services in Ciletuh Bay has not been carried out. At the same time, this is necessary for policymakers to maintain sustainable Ciletuh Bay coastal ecotourism. This study aims to estimate the value of cultural ecosystem services in Ciletuh Bay in two ways. The first method is assessing the balance of supply and demand for cultural ecosystem services that adopt the Burkhard Model, namely through individual preferences for the beauty of several types of landscapes in Ciletuh Bay. The second assessment is an economic valuation using the travel cost method (TCM). The results showed that the balance of supply and demand for cultural ecosystem services in Ciletuh Bay contained several types of landscapes in unstable conditions. The economic value of Ciletuh Bay coastal ecotourism is IDR 862,640,124,311.00/year or IDR 77,911,861.00/ha/year.

Abstract

The importance of the ocean economy in island regional development requires the local government to formulate relevant policies according to the potential of its ocean economic activities. Based on the 2012 North Maluku Province I-O table updated to 2016, this study was conducted by aggregating 20 ocean subsectors to measure inter-sectoral linkages, output multipliers, income multipliers, and labor multipliers in the ocean economic sector. The I-O analysis results show that the leading sectors of the ocean economy of North Maluku Province are fisheries, ore mining, and construction. The marine sector which has excellent development potential in the economic development of North Maluku Province is based on the output multiplier, namely the metal ore mining sector, the food, and beverage industry, marine transportation, and the provision of food and beverage. Based on the number of labor multipliers, the education service, construction, and ore mining sectors can absorb high labor compared to other sectors.
