Abstract

The research is motivated by cultural aspects that must be preserved and studied in various scientific fields, including physics. One of the interesting cultural elements to study is the traditional musical instrument, the angklung. This study aims to analyze the frequency and speed of sound waves in angklung. The benefit of this research is to get the cognitive content of science and as a form of cultural preservation of the angklung musical instrument. This type of research is quantitative with experimental methods. Collecting data is by measuring the physical quantities on the angklung. The data analysis technique used is graphical analysis and mathematical calculations. The results obtained are that the length of the angklung tube is inversely proportional to the frequency of the sound produced. Mathematical calculations can get the value of the speed of sound wave propagation according to the closed organ pipe concept. Based on the calculation results, the speed of sound waves in angklung is 340.11 m/s. Keywords: angklung, frequency of sound, speed of sound

Abstract

Physics teachers must master the structure, concepts, scientific mindset and develop subject matter to provide broad and deep knowledge for students. Professional teachers must develop professionalism continuously through lifelong learning, one of which is to explore the essential material to increase mastery of the content of the subject matter. Physics teachers who are members of the Madrasah Aliyah Physics Teacher Consultation forum throughout Jember Regency have carried out continuous professional development, especially mastering essential physics materials. The activity implementation team, FKIP lecturers at the University of Jember, and core teachers discussed crucial physics materials. The results of this activity show that physics teachers can master the essential physics subject matter, are categorized as complex, and often lead to misconceptions. Teachers are also able to plan and carry out physics practicum. Teachers can use mastery of physics subject matter to design physics teaching materials and physics assessments to improve the quality of physics learning.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Computational thinking skills can help students in solving problems. Teaching materials such as student worksheets are still limited to textbooks. Physics learning can use GeoGebra to help visualise phenomena. This study aims to analyse the computational thinking ability of students through the implementation of GeoGebra integrated student worksheets on motion material on indicators of abstraction, decomposition, algorithm thinking, and generalisation. This type of research is a combination of quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data analysis uses formula calculations to assess student worksheets. Meanwhile, qualitative data analysis uses an interactive approach by Miles and Huberman. The results showed that the students' computational thinking ability on the abstraction indicator of as many as 25 people, decomposition on as many as 20 people, and algorithmic thinking on as many as 25 people are classified as very good. This is indicated by students being able to determine important information, identify problems to be simpler, and explain steps systematically. In the generalisation indicator, students' average computational thinking ability is in a good category. In short, most students in computational thinking skills on abstraction, decomposition, and algorithm thinking are classified as very good, while the generalisation indicator is classified as good.

Abstract

The research aims to analyse the engineering thinking skills of students by integrating the PjBL model with STEM water rocket design on momentum materials. This research is an experimental study. The design of this study was qualitative research. There are three stages to the research stage: preparation, implementation, and the final stage. The researchers collected data through observation, interviews, posttests, and documentaries. The focus of this study is on students' engineering thinking skills. The researchers interactively analyse the collected data during the phases of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion. Additionally, the researchers conducted data credibility tests using triangulation techniques to assess the appropriateness of the research data. The research results predominantly classify the six indicators of engineering thinking as very good. Based on the findings and deductions, it is concluded that most students' engineering thinking abilities, when combined with the PjBL model and STEM water rocket design material, score highly on the six indicators of creative problem-solving. Students in this study experienced new knowledge and learning experiences that enabled them to solve daily problems by applying engineering thinking skills and physics concepts.
