Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between Mulla Sadra's philosophy of existence and the sufistic concept of monotheism. Tauhid as an Islamic paradigm can be seen from several levels, including the belief that there is no God but Allah; experience and witness to the Oneness of Allah; and the philosophical construction of experience and witness to the Oneness of Allah. Tauhid in the first point reflects the general theological view, while the second and third points reflect the Sufism paradigm. And according to the theologians, the philosophical construction of the Oneness of God, which is called wahdah al-wujud, among other things, has come out of the Islamic creed. At that point, Mulla Sadra can become a strategic bridge because he synthesizes various previous philosophies into a distinctive philosophical system. From the building of his philosophy, Sadra has three important parts that talk about the philosophy of Being: asalah al-wujud, wahdah al- wujud, and tashqiq al- wujud. This philosophy of being will be dissected through the sufistic paradigm to provide an answer whether sufistic monotheism has violated the Islamic creed. The approach used is descriptiveanalysis. The main finding is that Mulla Sadra's philosophy of being is still related to monotheism, especially sufi monotheism, because Sadra does not deny Allah as the One Supreme Being, nor does he carry the idea of mono-existentialism like Ibn Arabi, which is the main goal of the theologians' criticism

Abstract

In the twentieth century, Islam faced various ideological challenges, among them being socialism. There are claims that socialism is more consistent with Islamic values than other ideologies like capitalism. One prominent Muslim thinker of this group is Mustafa al-Siba‘i whose attempted to combine Islamic principles with those of socialism. This research examines his idea of Islamic socialism, his criticism of communism-Marxism, and the typology and contextualization of his thought. It uses a literary and historical approach, collecting data from al-Siba‘i’s works and historical analysis to achieve a more in-depth understanding of the main concepts in al-Siba‘i’s thought on Islamic socialism. The main concept of Islamic socialism is social solidarity, rooted in Islamic teachings and emphasizing the importance of social justice and shared prosperity. Al-Siba‘i criticized socialism-Marxism and capitalism as man-made and, therefore, imperfect systems that are fraught with fatal errors, while offering Islam as an alternative. He asserts that the principles of Islam based on the Qur’ān, hadith, and ijtihād provide a solid foundation for socialism in its original sense. As such, al-Siba‘i’s approach attempts to contextualize socialism within an Islamic framework, creating a unique view of how Islamic principles can be applied in the context of socialism.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the persistent tension between religion and science in Indonesia, as different perspectives have emerged on issues such as vaccination, restrictions on worship, and public health protocols. This moment of crisis underscores the broader epistemological gulf between religious belief and scientific reasoning, reigniting the debate about their respective roles in addressing existential and social challenges. Responding to this complex landscape, Haidar Bagir and Ulil Abshar Abdalla have articulated two conceptual frameworks of religious science and scientific religion that aim to redefine the relationship between religion and science. This article critically analyzes the arguments using John Haught’s taxonomy of conflict, contrast, contact, and confirmation. Haidar Bagir’s views emphasize respectful differentiation and dialogical engagement in the form of contrast and contact, while Ulil Abshar Abdalla envisions a more harmonious interaction that affirms mutual legitimacy in the form of confirmation. Both thinkers reject the absolutism of modern scientism and call for religious thought to be more responsive to scientific developments. This study highlights the urgency of fostering epistemological synergy so that religion and science can face the ethical and intellectual challenges of our time together.

Abstract

This study describes how Islam responds to the post-truth that frequently appears in the digital sphere, especially when political momentum is involved. Post-truth connects with epistemology since, factually, it is intimately tied to the question of truth. This study provides a paradigm for dealing with post-truth by combining the taxonomy of fake news with the Islamic epistemology of Murtadha Mutahhari. Using the horizon of post-truth detection and the Islamic epistemological horizon, the method integrates Gadamer's horizons. According to the study's findings, post-truth stems from the issue of human cognitive bias, which occurs when people tend to accept what they want to think to be true. Meanwhile, misrepresentation, media bias, information laundering, statistical deceit, manipulation of election results, and similar practices are the main traits of falsehoods in the virtual world. In line with Murtadha Mutahhari's Islamic epistemology, the multiple frameworks of these lies must be challenged with efforts at verification, correspondence, and soul purity.

Abstract

Islamic religious education today runs conventionally and traditionally. Teachers or educators only teach knowledge or theory to students, without actually appreciating the theory. This failure boils down to the reality that Islamic religious education only focuses on the knowledge (cognitive) aspect in the form of the growth of religious values and ignores other critical aspects. The conative and affective aspects of religious education are sometimes under-noticed. So that the piety of worship sometimes has less impact on the 'anal piety and social piety. The aim of this research is to formulate the development of the Islamic Religious Education curriculum with the content of Hikmah at-Tasyri'. This study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review as its research type. The research objects include primary and secondary literary sources. The findings of this research indicate that the content of Hikmah at-Tasyri' would be highly effective when implemented in the development of the Islamic Religious Education curriculum to shape students with strong character, instilling Islamic values, and enabling them to apply these principles in their daily lives.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines how state instruments regulate gender discourse through religious and legal discourse on polygamy by elaborating Michel Foucault's concept of the power of knowledge and Teun A. van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis. Focusing on the Qur'an and its translation (the official state translation), the 1974 Marriage Law, and the 1991 Compilation of Islamic Law, this study reveals how these texts collectively construct a patriarchal regime of truth that legitimises male authority and marginalises female agency. The translation of Alquran Al-Nisā` (4:3) reinforces a male-centred reading, which is then codified into the state constitution, describing polygamy as legal and valid based on the administrative concept of ‘justice’. Departing from Foucault's basic assumption, this study shows that sacred texts and laws operate as technologies of power that regulate moral and gender relations in the name of religion and national order, thus demanding critical and gender-equitable reform in the interpretation of the Quran and Family Law.

Abstract

This article addresses an academic issue regarding how the integration between hadith and science is manifested in the digital space, particularly through the use of immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR). In this context, this study analyzes digital content that represents the integration of hadith and science, focusing on several social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok, namely @relijenius, @santai_tapisampai, @edimujiono19, and @vrjourney.indo. John Haught's taxonomy is used to map the relationship patterns between religion and science within this content, including four relationship models: conflict, contrast, contact, and confirmation. This study specifically highlights two dominant approaches: confirmation and contact. The analysis reveals that the confirmation approach is more prominent, reflected in narratives that seek to affirm religious texts through scientific justification. Meanwhile, the contact approach is evident through the use of 5D VR technology, which enables the visualization of religious experiences in an intense and contextual manner. These findings suggest that the integration of hadith and science in the digital ecosystem tends to be practical rather than conceptual, and oriented toward the re-mediation of religious narratives through contemporary language and technology. In this sense, Haught’s typology not only serves as a classification framework but also as a reflective tool for understanding the epistemological dynamics in the production of digital religious knowledge.
