Abstract

Makalah ini mencoba melihat sejauh mana pengaruh jenis pupuk, varietas dan mutu benih terhadap peningkatanproduksi padi sawah si wilayah DIY pada kurun waktu 2002.Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh produksi padi sawah sangat ditentukan oleh komponen-komponen diatas. Abstract

Abstract: This research was aimed to find out the Ability of the Second Year Students of the Vocational High School (SMK) Taruna Satria Pekanbaru in Comprehending Narrative Texts. The population of this research was the Second Year Students of the Vocational High School (SMK) Taruna Satria Pekanbaru. The number of sample was 32 students selected by using cluster random sampling technique. The research instrument was multiple choice questions consisted 30 questions. The test was given by using six components of reading comprehension of narrative texts such as specific information, moral value, main idea, reference, meaning of difficult word, and making inference of narrative text. The data were analyzed by classifying them into four levels of ability, such as poor, average, good, and excellent. The result showed that the ability of the second year students of the Vocational High School (SMK) Taruna Satria Pekanbaru was at good level with mean score was 65,2.Key Words: Students’ ability, Reading comprehension, Narrative text

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed at finding out the effect of role-play activity on students’ speaking ability of the first year science students of SMAN 8 Pekanbaru academic year 2017/2018. The total of the population of the first year science students at SMAN 8 Pekanbaru is 323 students. This number of the students is large enough to be taken as the sample, it is selected by using cluster random sampling technique. The selected sample was 10 science students 4 which consist of 36 students. The instrument of this research is speaking test form focusing on the oral narrative text. The test used role-play activity for both pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using five components of speaking as inferred by Brown (2004). They are pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The results show that the mean score of the speaking test of the first year students in pre-test is 68,86 while in post-test is 74,25. The highest score in pre-test is 54,17 for pronunciation while the lowest score is 48,19 for grammar. The highest score in post-test is 57,5 for comprehension and the lowest score is 53,89 for vocabulary. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an effect of role-play activity on the first year science students’ speaking ability. In other words, the alternative hypothesis of this research, “There is an effect of role-play activity on the speaking ability of the first year science students at SMAN 8 Pekanbaru ” is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. It can be inferred that teaching speaking by using role play activity as one of the alternative speaking activities has an effect on the students’ speaking ability.Keyword: Role Play, Speaking Ability

Abstract

Abstract: This descriptive research aimed to find out the ability level of the second year students of MA Darul Quran in writing descriptive texts. The subjects of this study were the second year students of MA Darul Quran who were selected by using the cluster random sampling technique. 32 students employed in this study was used the Writing Test adapted by Brown in 2003. The results of the data analysis showed that the mean score of the students` ability in writing the descriptive text was 56. It can be stated that the ability of the second year students of MA Darul Quran in writing descriptive texts was average. Based on the result of the students’ ability in each writing aspect, the lowest score was in the grammar aspect and the highest score is in the content aspect.Key Words: Study, Writing Ability, Descriptive Text

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this study is to find out the ability of the second year sudents of the state vocational high school (SMKN) 1 Rambah in comprehending narrative texs. It is a descriptive research carried at from August-September 2018. There are ten classes in this research. The population were 271 students, their characters are homogeneous in terms of academic achievement and age factors. The cluster random strategies technique was choosen due to that every class has equal ooportunity to be a sample group. The sample conpused of two categories, try out class (XI TKJ 1) and sample class (XI AK 1). Try out class consisted of 30 students and 30 students from sample class. In this research, the try out test aimed at acknowledging the validity of the test. The time allocation to administer the try out test and the revised test was 45 minutes for each of them. The data were analyzed by calculating the students’ scores, classified into five level mastery, such as very poor, poor, mediocre, good and excellent. Based on the analyzing data of this research, the students’ ability in comprehending narrative text at the second year students of the state vocational high school (SMKN) 1 Rambah was in good level. Meanwhile, the mean score of the whole students’ scores was 61.93. The implication of the finding is that the second year students of the state vocational high school (SMKN) 1 Rambah is able enough in comprehend narrative texts.Key Words : Students’ Ability, Comprehending Narrative Texts

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to find out the ability level of male and female students and the significant difference between the ability of the second year male and female students of SMP IT Aziziyyah Pekanbaru on comprehending descriptive texts. The research was conducted from March 18, 2019 up to April 10, 2019. The population of this research was the second year students of SMP IT Aziziyyah Pekanbaru with the total number of 88 students (52 males and 36 females). A purposive sampling technique was used to determine the sample of the research. The total sample was 72 students that consisted of 36 male students and 36 female students. To collect the data in this research multiple choice tests were used. Descriptive text was used to know the students' ability on reading comprehension. The result of the research showed that the ability of the second year male and female students of SMP IT Aziziyyah Pekanbaru on comprehending descriptive texts is in good level and there is no significant difference on comprehending descriptive texts in term of their genders. It means that Null hypothesis (H0) is accepted and Alternative hypothesis (H1) is rejected.Key Words: Comparative, Gender, Reading, Descriptive Text

Abstract

Abstract: This research investigates the use of L1 in English Study Program, University of Riau. This study aims to know students’ preference, the frequency used and students’ reasons for the use of L1 in English classrooms. This study applied survey designed. The population of this research was the second-fourth-sixth-semester students of the English study program of Teachers’ Training and Education Faculty of Universitas Riau with a total number of population is 344 students. The number of the sample in this research was 120 students. Data was collected by using an online questionnaire and interviews. Data was analyzed by using Microsoft Excel. The results showed that the majority of students suggested English must be used and a small percentage of students suggested using L1 to make them easier to understand the materials taught by lecturers.Key Words: English, English classrooms, L1, Students’ Preference, Students’ Reason

Abstract

Abstract : The objective of this research is to find out types of errors made by the first year students of English Study Program FKIP Universitas Riau in writing recount text. This is a descriptive research The participants of this research were 17 students of class A. The students were selected to be the sample using cluster sampling technique. The writer collected the data by using using writing test which the topic given is “Unforgettable Experience”. The result of this research showed that the students committed error into four types: error of omission, error of addition, error of formation, and error of ordering. From the frequency of each error types, error of formation was the error which most frequently produced by the students. It took 71.90% of the total errors. Moreover, 19.53% errors fell into error of omission and 5.10% errors fell into error of ordering; whereas, for error of addition, it only took 3.47%Keywords: Error, Writing, Recount text.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research was to find out the vowels that are difficult for the third year students of MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru to pronounce and the sources of errors made by them. There were 251 population and only 22 students as the sample through cluster random sampling technique. The test was taken in audio recording. After analysing the data, it can be concluded that the most difficult vowel appeared in /ʌ/ (76.14%); while the easiest vowel was /ɔ/ (7.95%). In addition, the first source of pronunciation errors made by the students was Interlingual (31.82%) and the second source was Intralingual (18.18%).Key Words: Pronunciation, Errors, Analysis, and Students

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to find out the ability of the third year students of SMPN 25 Pekanbaru in comprehending Narrative Texts. The number of population was 347 students divided into nine classes. The writer used cluster random sampling to determine the sample. The samples were 80 students. The needed data were taken from the students’ score in comprehending narrative texts. The test comprehends four narrative texts of which all has five indicators and 20 items multiple choice. The time allocation was 60 minutes. The result of the study revealed that the mean score was 71.25% which indicated that the students were in good level. The highest mean score is 95.31% (identifying references) and the lowest mean score is 44% (finding social function).Key Words: Students’ ability, Reading Comprehension, Narrative texts
