Abstract

Good nutritional status of toddlers plays an important role in growth and development, especially during the golden period in the first five years. Poor nutritional status of children under five can have a negative impact on physical and mental growth, decreased body resistance, and a more serious impact is the emergence of disability, high morbidity and accelerated mortality. Based on data from the Jambi Province Dinsosnakertrans (2010), one of the health problems that often occurs in the SAD community is the low nutritional status. Problems of poverty, low levels of education and lack of knowledge in the SAD community make them susceptible to diseases that also have an impact on their nutritional status. Efforts that can be made to improve nutrition improvement programs in remote indigenous communities are to provide education and information to all tribal communities in Bukit Suban Village about the importance of balanced nutrition by making food sources that exist in nature and easy for them to find as examples and then teach how to process them. food so that it can be consumed and still contains good nutritional value. Furthermore, monitoring the nutritional status of toddlers by measuring and weighing the toddler's weight. Based on interviews with people who initially did not know about good balanced nutrition for children, now they know a little and they also know how to use food ingredients that are in their environment and how to process food properly and hygienically. undernutrition by 31.25%

Abstract

Various forms of environmental education in schools, namely, environmentally cultured schools, green schools, and healthy schools. The term adopted by the government is Adiwiyata. SDN 211/IV Jambi is located not far from the city center and has a beautiful environment, this school has a fairly conducive land to support the Adiwiyata program and has teachers who love and care about the environment. The purpose of this dedication is so that future Adiwiyata activities will be realized and be successful and sustainable. This service activity is supported by the principal and teachers. With this service activity, it is hoped that students as future leaders will be equipped and able to implement environmentally sound development and not only pursue economic and social benefits. Based on the results of community service activities carried out, it was found that there were no specific policies regarding the environment that could be applied in schools. In addition, the environmental curriculum is still integrated with several subjects and has not involved other parties in environmental conservation activities. There is an increase in knowledge after education about adiwiyata, especially environmental care and waste management in schools. It is hoped that schools will be able to maintain existing educational facilities and improve them and begin to develop adiwiyata school policies and cooperate with the Environment Agency so that these activities can be successful. Keywords: Adiwiyata, Caring for the environment, Waste management

Abstract

Hazardous and toxic materials (B3) are substances, energy, and/or other components which due to their nature, concentration and/or amount, either directly or indirectly, can pollute and/or damage the environment, and/or endanger the environment. health, and the survival of humans and other living things. Hazardous waste affects health by harming humans directly (due to explosions, fires, reactive, corrosive) or indirectly (acute toxic and krosis). The capacity for handling waste, especially B3 waste, carried out by the community and local governments is not yet optimal. Waste that is not managed properly will affect the environment and the health of the surrounding community. Based on the results of the study, the average B3 waste generation in Gayungan District was 2.33 g/person.day with a total B3 waste generation in Gayungan District of 85 kg/day, the types of B3 waste consisted of flammable, toxic and corrosive. Efforts that can be made to increase public knowledge about household B3 waste is to disseminate information on the introduction and control of household waste and how to manage household B3 waste independently. Based on the results of the community service activities carried out, it was found that there was an increase in community knowledge by 50% from the previous one based on the results of the pre-test and post-test conducted. Each of the question items that were asked to the community experienced an increase in each, when the activities were carried out the community was also very enthusiastic and eager to follow it, because previously this B3 waste socialization activity had never been carried out. Keywords: B3 Waste, B3 Waste Management

Abstract

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Jambi University (FKIK-UNJA) is one of the educational institutions contributing to organic waste in Jambi City, both from food scraps, as well as leaf waste and other organic waste. Based on preliminary studies and the results of interviews with 3 FKIK Facility Care officers and one FKIK UNJA Facility Care supervisor, information obtained by facility care officers has not separated waste based on type, officers process waste by burning it all this time, officers have never been given any training at all. making compost fertilizer in order to utilize organic waste and reduce the amount of waste. The aim of this community service activity is to form maintenance facility officers who care about the environment, and understand how to utilize organic waste into compost so that it can be used for plants on campus and is also economically valuable and can reduce the amount of organic waste generated. The method used is a contextual and participatory approach, with counseling, training and video screening models. This activity is carried out through several stages, namely the planning, training and evaluation stages. Evaluation activities were carried out by looking at the officers' knowledge before and after being given the training. The results showed that there was an increase in the average value and obtained a p-value of 0.04 < 0.05, meaning that there was a significant difference between the level of knowledge before and after being given the training. This service has been proven to increase the knowledge of Facility Care officers in processing organic waste into compost.

Abstract

Environmental sanitation issues in Jambi Province include: the population with access to proper sanitation facilities in 2019 only reached 88.56% of the population in the Jambi Province area, sanitation of public places that meet health requirements only reached 63.11%, and food processing places that meet health requirements are still below 70% of the achievement. Therefore, cross-sector efforts are needed to improve environmental sanitation, but it is also necessary to pay attention to hygiene behavior which is also closely related to sanitation against the occurrence of a disease. The results of the implementation of community service activities in the FKIK Unja campus environment targeting facility care officers are increasing after knowledge about good hygiene and sanitation after socialization. Efforts to form hygienic behavior in the FKIK campus environment have been carried out by empowering officers through the provision of liquid soap for washing hands (CTPS), installing CTPS promotional stickers, and sorting to processing waste. Waste sorting activities have also been carried out by officers using trash bags that have been provided according to the type of waste including organic and inorganic, B3, and waste with economic value.

Abstract

Knowledge enhancement is essential for behaviour change, as it increases an individual's awareness of the personal relevance of information. This service focuses on brief training on cadres' knowledge of Child Growth Monitoring (CPM), Child Development Monitoring (CDM), and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF). This service aims to see the increase in knowledge with educational methods. Based on the results of the t test, the P value is 0.004, then the mean value of knowledge before education is 6.38 and increases to 11.52 after education and the standard deviationis 1.73 before education, then decreases to 0.64, which means that at 5% alpha there is a significant difference in improvement between the average knowledge of cadres before and after receiving training. It is hoped that cadres will be given periodic knowledge refreshers on Child Growth Monitoring (IYCF), Child Development Monitoring(PDA), and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), and other additional up-to-date material so that cadres can provide IEC to mothers about preventing stunting.
