Abstract

Current mathematics assessment models prioritize academic standards over ethical values. This gap perpetuates reductionist and ethically devoid assessment. This study aims to establish a foundation for Qur'anic ethical assessment based on mizān and develop a conceptual framework for assessment in mathematics education. This theoretical-literature-thematic study analyzes five groups of the Qur'anic verses (namely: 7:85, 21:47, 42:17, 55:7-9, 57:25 ) with a critical-reflective approach to criticize the dominant culture in assessment. The analysis connects the mīzān-ethic principle with contemporary mathematical theory through an interdisciplinary synthesis. This study produces: (1) Mīzān in the Qur'an is a symbol of universal ethics. The mīzān-based assessment reflects moral values and integrity. The concept of ethical-Qur'anic assessment is a framework that unites spiritual, social, and individual aspects. (2) The concept of ethical-Qur'anic assessment should not only measure learning outcomes but also reflect the values of fairness, honesty, and balance. This assessment simultaneously and harmoniously combines cognitive, affective, and social competencies. Teachers not only test but also uphold ethical and character values. This assessment avoids bias and rejects discrimination, but fosters empathy to shape students to be active, value-conscious, and responsible individuals. This concept provides a new direction for assessment design in mathematics education.

Abstract

Temporary marriage is not only about surviving the trauma and crisis but also offers the potential to emerge from difficulties due to its ability to provide meaning from past events. This study aims to measure the level of meaning in the life of female victims of temporary marriage in Singkawang, Indonesia, by exploring their experiences as an optimization to generate positive effects on their lives. Employing a mixed-methods approach that integrates qualitative and quantitative methodologies, the research utilizes an inventory technique to investigate the meanings of life experienced by ten respondents. Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with five women who had been impacted by temporary marriage in order to delve into their pursuit of a meaningful life, all of whom consented to the intervention. The findings indicate that women often find themselves as victims of temporary marriage at a middle economic level. The pursuit of a purpose in life emerged as a primary concern, surpassing other factors such as spirituality, self-acceptance, materialism, and problem-solving in the quest for life’s meaning. This situation is often hindered by psychological trauma stemming from challenges encountered within the context of temporary marriage. Through introspection and self-acceptance, individuals embarked on a journey of personal growth, gaining insights and heightened awareness that could serve as a form of intervention through social connection, prayer, close relationships, positive behaviors, experiences, and self-motivation. This research provides an understanding of the fact that difficulties or problems in life can have positive implications by motivating the desire to grow from the temporary marriage experience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the actual irrigation water losses in the Jimat Irrigation Area, identify the factors causing irrigation water losses, and determine effective strategies to reduce water losses in the area. One of the important irrigation areas in this region is the Jimat Irrigation Area, which supplies water to 110 hectares of agricultural land. However, the effectiveness of water distribution is often hampered by significant water losses. The research methods used are descriptive evaluative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The descriptive evaluative method describes a study that evaluates the actual conditions of the study object. Meanwhile, the quantitative descriptive analysis method aims to accurately describe the characteristics of the study object.Based on the analysis and calculations, the Jimat Irrigation Area requires an actual irrigation water supply of 0.812 m³/second to serve its four tertiary canals, with the highest allocation going to Tertiary Channel 2 (0.465 m³/second) and the lowest to Tertiary Channel 4 (0.084 m³/second). However, only 54% of the initial discharge of the primary canal (1.702 m³/second at the Upstream Intake) actually reaches the agricultural land. A total of 46% of the water (0.686 m³/second) is lost along the primary network, with seepage accounting for 99.94% of the water loss, particularly in critical sections such as Primary Channel V, which lost 59% of its discharge. Meanwhile, the contribution of evaporation is minimal (0.06%) due to the limited water surface area and low daily evaporation rate (2.76 mm/day).
