Abstract

The Community Service Program (PKM) for PKK members focused on improving their abilities and ingenuity in transforming local produce, specifically kale, into products that are both attractive and commercially viable. The program featured instruction in food processing methods, the creation of product ideas, and basic packaging techniques designed to emphasize local identity. Despite being a one-time event, participants demonstrated strong eagerness to utilize their newfound knowledge and investigate further business possibilities. Throughout the program, increased motivation to innovate, greater self-assurance, and a recognition of the value of creativity in product design were observed. These results demonstrate that PKM serves not only as an educational opportunity, but also as a catalyst for encouraging initiative, creative thinking, and a continued drive to build participants’ businesses. Ultimately, PKM delivers hands-on experience that empowers PKK members and promotes the expansion of local micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

Abstract

While many empowerment programs focus solely on planting, this study integrates cultivation with the creation of innovative herbal products. The program involved six selected Dasawisma groups (Anggrek, Melati, and Mawar) in Nagari Lasi, Agam Regency. A Community-Based Research approach was conducted over eight months (July–December 2023), utilizing a structured questionnaire to measure knowledge and direct observation for skill assessment. Knowledge regarding TOGA cultivation and processing increased significantly by 82%. The groups successfully transformed harvests into innovative commercial products, including "Seduhan Lasi" (herbal drink), "Keripik Pegagan" (Centella chips), and "TomaLasi" (tomato dates). The program successfully shifted the community's role from passive producers to active micro-entrepreneurs, utilizing marketing strategies (4P) to enhance family economic resilience.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a common nutritional problem that can negatively affect maternal and fetal health, primarily caused by iron deficiency and inadequate nutritional intake. This condition can increase the risk of complications such as fatigue, infection, premature birth, and low birth weight. Therefore, effective interventions are needed to improve maternal nutrition and prevent anemia during pregnancy. This study aimed to analyze the role of nutritional counseling in reducing the incidence of anemia among pregnant women with iron deficiency. The research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design involving 30 pregnant women diagnosed with iron deficiency, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires to assess maternal nutritional knowledge, 24-hour dietary recall to evaluate iron intake, and hemoglobin measurements to determine anemia status. The intervention consisted of structured nutritional counseling sessions conducted during antenatal care visits. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests to compare hemoglobin levels and knowledge scores before and after the intervention. The results showed that nutritional counseling significantly improved pregnant women’s knowledge regarding iron nutrition and anemia prevention, encouraged healthier dietary behavior, and increased the consumption of iron-rich foods and adherence to iron supplementation. In conclusion, nutritional counseling is an effective strategy to improve maternal nutritional knowledge, dietary practices, and hemoglobin levels, and its integration into routine antenatal care services can contribute to the prevention of anemia and the improvement of maternal and fetal health outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of green infrastructure in reducing flood risk in densely populated urban areas through an integrated approach that incorporates hydrological, spatial, and social dimensions. The research employs a mixed methods design, with quantitative analysis conducted using the Storm Water Management Model to evaluate runoff volume, peak discharge, and inundation extent, alongside spatial analysis based on Geographic Information System to assess the distribution and optimization of green infrastructure placement. Qualitative analysis is carried out through a community perception survey using a Likert scale to measure levels of awareness and participation. The results indicate that green infrastructure significantly reduces runoff volume and peak discharge under low to moderate rainfall intensity, although its effectiveness declines during extreme rainfall events. The distribution and connectivity of green infrastructure elements are shown to enhance spatial performance, while community participation influences the sustainability of its functions. The combination of green infrastructure and conventional infrastructure yields the most optimal outcomes in reducing flood risk. This study highlights the importance of an integrative approach in managing urban flooding that is both adaptive and sustainable.
