Abstract

ABSTRACT Occupational safety in the maritime industry relies heavily on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the understanding of risk perception by ship crews. Despite this, there is still a gap in a comprehensive understanding of research patterns and developments in this area. This study aims to map and analyze research trends related to the use of PPE and risk perception in the maritime industry using a bibliometric approach. The research method used the Publish or Perish application to identify 50 relevant articles from the period 2014-2024, which were then analyzed using VOSviewer with the application of occurance 4 and term 23 criteria to produce network, overlay, and density visualizations. The results showed the dominance of Scandinavian countries in publications, with Sweden (9 publications) and Norway (7 publications) as the main contributors. Analysis of publication types showed a predominance of empirical research articles (34 publications), with peak productivity in 2018. VOSviewer identified three main clusters of research: operational aspects of PPE, regulation and compliance, and analysis and evaluation. The highest keyword frequencies were found in "safety" (21), "ship" (17), and "personal protective equipment" (16), indicating a major focus on safety aspects. Research gaps were identified in the aspects of integration of modern technologies, harmonization of international standards, and longitudinal evaluative studies. This study concludes that although the field has grown significantly, there are still substantial opportunities for more comprehensive research development, especially in the aspects of research methodology, impact analysis, and compliance evaluation of PPE use in the maritime industry. Keywords: Personal Protective Equipment, Bibliometrics, Maritime Safety, Risk Perception, VOSviewer

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyse global trends in research related to microplastic contamination and river water quality using a bibliometric approach. Microplastics have become one of the most pressing environmental issues in recent decades, mainly due to their significant impact on aquatic ecosystems and potential harm to human health. Along with the increasing attention to this issue, the scientific literature related to microplastics and river water quality has grown rapidly. However, a thorough understanding of the distribution of research, relationships between topics, as well as potential research gaps is still needed to direct future research more effectively. This study used a literature search method through the Publish or Perish app, with keywords including "microplastics," "water quality," "water pollution," "microplastic contamination," and "river." The search was conducted from 2014 to 2024, resulting in 50 relevant articles for further analysis. The data obtained was then processed using VOSviewer to map and visualise the bibliometric network, identify key clusters, and evaluate the temporal progression of these research topics. The resulting visualisations, including network visualisation, overlay visualisation, and density visualisation, provide deep insights into how key terms are connected and evolve in the literature. The analysis showed that research on microplastics in the context of rivers and water quality is heavily dominated by a few key terms such as "microplastic," "river," and "water," indicating the high level of scientific attention on this topic. In addition, it was found that research often focuses on the distribution of microplastics, physicochemical parameters of water, and sources of contamination. However, there are some significant research gaps, especially related to the effect of salinity on microplastic distribution, the accumulation of microplastics in river sediments, and the role of wastewater treatment plants in preventing the spread of microplastics to aquatic ecosystems. The conclusion of this study is that despite significant progress in understanding the distribution and impacts of microplastics, many aspects still require further research. In particular, research on the long-term impacts of microplastics and their interactions with other environmental components should be further enhanced. The findings are expected to provide guidance for future researchers to explore under-explored areas and contribute to better environmental management. Keywords: Microplastic, Water Quality, River Pollution, Bibliometric Analysis, Environmental Research

Abstract

Banjar Regency is geographically located in a lowland area crossed by several rivers and hydrographically is greatly influenced by rainfall. From February to March 2023, 17,257 houses in seven sub-districts in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan were submerged in floods with a height of 20-70 cm. Many women and young women find it difficult to practice Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). The use of audiobooks as health promotion media is expected to increase the knowledge and perceptions of young women regarding the practice of MHM when a flood occurs. This study aims to analyze the effect of audiobooks on young women, especially on the variable knowledge and perceptions of MHM in emergency situations. This study is a quasi-experimental study that provides intervention in the form of audiobooks with a one-group pretest-posttest-only design. The sample in this study was 40 female students of Junior High School (SMPN) 2 Martapura Timur, taken using purposive sampling. Data analysis used the T-test with a confidence level of 95%. The results of this study indicate that intervention in the form of audiobooks has proven effective in increasing knowledge (p-value: 0.0001) and perception (p-value: 0.0001) of female adolescents regarding menstrual hygiene management in emergencies. It is expected that the use of audiobooks can be maintained by schools in disseminating information about MHM.

Abstract

Dengue fever (DHF) in Indonesia is increasing and spreading. This is due to weak early warning systems and risk factors for disease spread that are influenced by geospatial changes. This study employs a systematic review approach with meta-analysis to ascertain the impact of regional spatial data on dengue incidence. The results showed that rainfall tended to have a large effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (0.44), temperature had a very small effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (0.02), humidity had a moderate effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (0.18), and wind speed tended to have a very large effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (1.19). Temperature change had a significant influence on the incidence of DHF. Rainfall, temperature change, humidity and wind speed had an I-squared value (OR variation caused by heterogeneity) of 100% while wind speed was 0%. Rainfall, temperature change and humidity tended to have variable results so that they had a strong influence on the results of the meta-analysis, while wind speed tended to be homogeneous, allowing for high research bias.
