Abstract

Banjar Regency is geographically located in a lowland area crossed by several rivers and hydrographically is greatly influenced by rainfall. From February to March 2023, 17,257 houses in seven sub-districts in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan were submerged in floods with a height of 20-70 cm. Many women and young women find it difficult to practice Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). The use of audiobooks as health promotion media is expected to increase the knowledge and perceptions of young women regarding the practice of MHM when a flood occurs. This study aims to analyze the effect of audiobooks on young women, especially on the variable knowledge and perceptions of MHM in emergency situations. This study is a quasi-experimental study that provides intervention in the form of audiobooks with a one-group pretest-posttest-only design. The sample in this study was 40 female students of Junior High School (SMPN) 2 Martapura Timur, taken using purposive sampling. Data analysis used the T-test with a confidence level of 95%. The results of this study indicate that intervention in the form of audiobooks has proven effective in increasing knowledge (p-value: 0.0001) and perception (p-value: 0.0001) of female adolescents regarding menstrual hygiene management in emergencies. It is expected that the use of audiobooks can be maintained by schools in disseminating information about MHM.

Abstract

Dengue fever (DHF) in Indonesia is increasing and spreading. This is due to weak early warning systems and risk factors for disease spread that are influenced by geospatial changes. This study employs a systematic review approach with meta-analysis to ascertain the impact of regional spatial data on dengue incidence. The results showed that rainfall tended to have a large effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (0.44), temperature had a very small effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (0.02), humidity had a moderate effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (0.18), and wind speed tended to have a very large effect on dengue incidence with an ES value of (1.19). Temperature change had a significant influence on the incidence of DHF. Rainfall, temperature change, humidity and wind speed had an I-squared value (OR variation caused by heterogeneity) of 100% while wind speed was 0%. Rainfall, temperature change and humidity tended to have variable results so that they had a strong influence on the results of the meta-analysis, while wind speed tended to be homogeneous, allowing for high research bias.

Abstract

Introdution:Exposure to airborne pollutants such as lead (Pb) can cause health problems. Fuel stations are one of the places with a high risk of Pb exposure sourced from fuel or motor vehicle exhaust emissions. This research aims to know the effect of Pb exposure on hemoglobin levels and lung function in fuel station workers. Methods: This study was observational, analytical, and cross-sectional on 40 fuel station workers in South Banjarmasin District. Urinary Pb measurement was carried out by spectrophotometry, then the relationship to peripheral blood hemoglobin (Hb) levels and lung function was analyzed based on FEV1 (%), FVC (%), and FEV1/FVC ratio with a simple linear regression test. The data met the classical assumptions of normality, heteroscedasticity, and with no autocorrelation. If abnormal distribution was found, data transformation was carried out. Results: Study obtained urinary Pb levels below the normal threshold of 0.0356±0.0074 ppm. Respectively, urinary Pb levels did not have a significant effect on Hb levels (mean±SD:14.39±1.41, adjusted R2:6.2%, p=0.067), FEV1 (94.15±6.93, 5.8%, p=0.074) and FVC (89.68±6.24, 0.5%, p=0.380). However, urinary Pb significantly correlated with decreasing the FEV1/FVC ratio (90.87±3.36, 10%, p=0.026) with the equation y=96.550159.454x even without any obstruction value. Conclusion: This study showed that urinary Pb levels were normal. An increase in urinary Pb levels has a significant effect on decreasing the FEV1/FVC ratio. Prevention to reduce the health impacts of Pb needs to be taken. More research on at-risk populations with longer years of service needs to be done

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic condition characterized by high blood sugar levels caused by insulin deficiency. According to data from the International Diabetes Federation, as many as 80% of diabetes patients worldwide live in developing countries, one of which is Indonesia. Indonesia ranks fifth in the world for the highest number of diabetes patients, including the Kuala Pembuang area with a rate of 1.1%. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in each variable affecting the length of hospitalization for patients with type-II diabetes mellitus at RSUD Kuala Pembuang, and to determine this, survival analysis methods such as the Kaplan-Meier method and Log Rank Test were used. Secondary data from the medical records of RSUD Kuala Pembuang were utilized. The data used during the research over the period of 2020 included age, gender, blood glucose levels, comorbidities, and blood pressure. The result of this study is that female patients over the age of 45 are more numerous than male patients. Patients with comorbidities have blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg or higher, as well as inpatient blood glucose levels of 200 mg/dL or higher. Log Rank test analysis shows a significant gap between age groups and comorbidities.

Abstract

Aim: Based on data from the 2019 Population Census, the population of Banjarbaru City is 262,719 people; if as many as 50% of the people of Banjarbaru City use masks, approximately 135,200 masks are generated per day, or 4,056,000 masks waste per month. To analyze the effect of the incinerator on CO, CO2 and NO2 exhaust gases of mask waste before using wet coconut fiber and after using wet coconut fiber. Methodology: This research method uses the experimental method. The experimental design in this study is a pre-experimental design by providing treatment and measuring the results of the treatment carried out pretest and post-test. The research was conducted at the Mustika Graha Asri Housing Complex RT 11 RW 01 Loktabat Utara Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, in April 2022. Findings: From the results of statistical data processing using the paired t-test method, CO exhaust gas was obtained with a significance value of 0.853 (p> 0.05), CO2 with a significance value of 0.002 (p< 0.05) and NO2 with a significance value of 0.801 (p> 0.05). The exhaust gas that has a significant difference before and after using the wet coconut fiber filter is CO2 exhaust gas, while there is no significant difference between CO gas and NO2 exhaust gas. Many shortcomings still need to be addressed so that the combustion process in this simple incinerator is more optimal. Implications/Novel Contribution: The present study advances knowledge by comprehensively summarizing mask waste treatment using wet coconut filters. Additionally, this research offers useful information on the entire installation procedure and necessary tools.
