Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the non-communicable diseases with a continuously increasing prevalence in Indonesia. Low levels of physical activity and limited public knowledge about diabetes prevention are major contributing factors to this rise. This community service activity aimed to increase public awareness and knowledge of diabetes mellitus risks through the synergy of health education and healthy exercise. The activity involved 35 participants aged 30–60 years. The methods included interactive health education on risk factors and diabetes prevention, pre- and post-tests to assess knowledge improvement, and a 45-minute healthy exercise session. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge from an average of 60% before the activity to 85% after the activity. In addition, 88% of participants expressed high motivation to continue exercising regularly. This program proved effective in improving public awareness and behavior toward a healthy lifestyle. The synergy between education and physical activity can serve as a sustainable strategy for preventing diabetes mellitus in the community. With increased knowledge and motivation to exercise, it is expected that the community will take preventive measures to maintain their health. ABSTRAK Diabetes melitus (DM) merupakan salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang prevalensinya terus meningkat di Indonesia. Rendahnya tingkat aktivitas fisik dan kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pencegahan DM menjadi faktor utama peningkatan kasus ini. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap risiko diabetes melitus melalui sinergi antara edukasi kesehatan dan senam sehat. Kegiatan melibatkan 35 peserta berusia 30–60 tahun. Metode yang digunakan meliputi edukasi kesehatan interaktif mengenai faktor risiko dan pencegahan DM, pre tes dan post tes edukasi, serta pelaksanaan senam sehat selama ±45 menit. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta dari rata-rata 60% sebelum kegiatan menjadi 85% sesudah kegiatan. Selain itu, 88% peserta menyatakan motivasi tinggi untuk melanjutkan senam secara rutin. Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan perilaku masyarakat terhadap gaya hidup sehat. Sinergi edukasi dan aktivitas fisik dapat dijadikan strategi berkelanjutan dalam pencegahan diabetes melitus di masyarakat. Dengan meningkatnya pengetahuan dan motivasi untuk berolahraga, diharapkan masyarakat dapat mengambil langkah-langkah preventif dalam menjaga kesehatan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Language development is an essential aspect of infant growth, reflecting cognitive and social abilities. Society often assumes that female infants develop language skills faster than males. This study aims to examine differences in language development between male and female infants without gender bias. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was applied to 41 infants aged 6–12 months in the working area of Tanon Health Center, Kediri. Inclusion criteria included infants cared for directly by parents and without medical conditions affecting development. Data were collected through language development assessments categorized into four levels: not developed, emerging, developing as expected, and very well developed. The Mann–Whitney U test revealed no significant difference between male and female infants (p = 0.621). These results reject the assumption that gender determines language ability and emphasize that verbal stimulation and interactive environments play a more critical role. The findings provide insight for parents and healthcare professionals to promote equitable language stimulation without gender bias, supporting optimal communication development for all infants. ABSTRAK Perkembangan bahasa merupakan aspek penting dalam tumbuh kembang bayi yang mencerminkan kemampuan kognitif dan sosial. Masyarakat sering berasumsi bahwa bayi perempuan memiliki perkembangan bahasa yang lebih cepat dibanding bayi laki-laki. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau perbedaan tingkat perkembangan bahasa antara bayi laki-laki dan perempuan tanpa bias gender. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain cross-sectional pada 41 bayi usia 6–12 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tanon Kediri. Kriteria inklusi meliputi bayi yang diasuh langsung oleh orang tua tanpa gangguan medis yang memengaruhi perkembangan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi perkembangan bahasa yang dikategorikan menjadi empat tingkat, yaitu belum berkembang, mulai berkembang, berkembang sesuai harapan, dan berkembang sangat baik. Analisis menggunakan uji Mann–Whitney U menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara tingkat perkembangan bahasa bayi laki-laki dan perempuan (p = 0,621). Hasil ini menolak asumsi bahwa jenis kelamin menentukan kemampuan bahasa, dan menegaskan bahwa stimulasi verbal serta lingkungan interaktif memiliki pengaruh lebih besar. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar edukasi bagi orang tua dan tenaga kesehatan untuk memberikan stimulasi bahasa yang setara tanpa bias gender, guna mendukung perkembangan optimal pada semua anak.

Abstract

Background: Sleep quality during pregnancy decreases significantly as pregnancy progresses. Poor sleep quality can be addressed with various methods, including aromatherapy as a relaxation technique. Chamomile aromatherapy contains compounds that increase gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor activity, thereby promoting muscle relaxation and inducing sleepiness. This study aims to assess improvement in sleep quality in third-trimester pregnant women after receiving chamomile aromatherapy.  Methods: This study used a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 participants, all of whom were pregnant women in their third trimester. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire and an observation sheet. The chamomile aromatherapy intervention was administered before bedtime for 14 consecutive days by adding three drops of chamomile essential oil to a humidifier containing 100 ml of water, which was diffused for 10 minutes.  Results: A total of 53.3% of respondents had poor sleep quality before the chamomile aromatherapy intervention, which increased to 53.3% with excellent sleep quality after the intervention. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a statistically significant improvement in sleep quality (p = <0.001). The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant improvement in sleep quality (p = <0.001).  Conclusion: Chamomile aromatherapy significantly improves sleep quality in third trimester pregnant women. Health workers, especially midwives and nurses, should provide education and guidance on the safe use of chamomile aromatherapy.

Abstract

Menyusui merupakan langkah awal penting dalam memberikan nutrisi terbaik bagi bayi baru lahir hingga usia enam bulan, karena ASI mengandung nutrisi, hormon, antibodi, serta komponen antiinflamasi yang mendukung pertumbuhan dan daya tahan tubuh bayi. Namun, cakupan ASI eksklusif di Indonesia, khususnya di Kecamatan Gampengrejo Kabupaten Kediri, masih tergolong rendah yaitu 41,9% pada tahun 2022. Rendahnya cakupan tersebut menunjukkan perlunya upaya peningkatan self-efficacy ibu dalam menyusui, mengingat keyakinan diri berperan penting dalam keberhasilan pemberian ASI eksklusif. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pendidikan kesehatan terhadap peningkatan self-efficacy menyusui pada ibu primigravida di Kecamatan Gampengrejo, Kabupaten Kediri. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-eksperimental dengan pendekatan One Group Pretest–Posttest pada 30 ibu primigravida trimester III yang dipilih menggunakan teknik total sampling. Intervensi dilakukan melalui pendidikan kesehatan kelompok di kelas ibu hamil menggunakan media audiovisual berupa video edukasi manajemen laktasi berdurasi 15 menit yang telah direview oleh dua dosen ahli kebidanan. Pengukuran self-efficacy dilakukan menggunakan instrumen Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale–Short Form (BSES–SF) sebelum dan empat minggu sesudah intervensi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji McNemar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan proporsi ibu dengan self-efficacy tinggi dari 53,3% menjadi 83,3%, terdapat pengaruh media audiovisual manajemen laktasi terhadap self-efficacy menyusui dengan nilai p = 0.02. Dengan demikian, media audiovisual efektif digunakan dalam pendidikan kesehatan untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy menyusui pada ibu primigravida, sehingga tenaga kesehatan, khususnya bidan, diharapkan dapat memanfaatkannya untuk mendukung keberhasilan ASI eksklusif.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The transition from secondary education to higher education is a critical phase that requires students to adapt to independent learning systems and greater academic responsibilities. In midwifery education, academic demands are particularly complex as students must master theoretical knowledge while preparing for clinical practice. This study aims to analyze the relationship between time management ability and academic stress levels among first-year midwifery students. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of all first-year students, with a total of 69 respondents selected randomly. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires on time management and academic stress. Data analysis used the Spearman Rho correlation test. The results showed that most students had good time management skills and experienced low levels of academic stress. The Spearman Rho test produced a correlation coefficient of –0.248 with a significance value of 0.040, indicating a significant negative relationship between time management ability and academic stress. The findings indicate that the better students manage their time, the lower their academic stress levels. This study highlights the importance of time management as a crucial factor in helping students cope with academic demands during the early phase of midwifery education and as a preventive coping mechanism against academic stress. ABSTRAK Peralihan dari pendidikan menengah ke perguruan tinggi merupakan fase kritis yang menuntut mahasiswa untuk menyesuaikan diri terhadap sistem belajar mandiri dan tanggung jawab akademik yang lebih tinggi. Dalam konteks pendidikan kebidanan, tuntutan akademik bersifat kompleks karena mahasiswa harus mempelajari teori sekaligus mempersiapkan diri untuk praktik klinik kebidanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kemampuan manajemen waktu dengan tingkat stres akademik pada mahasiswa kebidanan tahun pertama. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Populasi terdiri dari seluruh mahasiswa tahun pertama, dan sampel penelitian berjumlah 69 responden yang dipilih secara acak. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner manajemen waktu dan kuesioner stres akademik yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data menggunakan uji Spearman Rho. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa memiliki kemampuan manajemen waktu dalam kategori baik dan mengalami stres akademik pada tingkat rendah. Hasil uji Spearman Rho menunjukkan nilai korelasi –0,248 dengan signifikansi 0,040, yang berarti terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara kemampuan manajemen waktu dan tingkat stres akademik. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin baik mahasiswa mengelola waktu, semakin rendah tingkat stres akademik yang mereka alami. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kemampuan manajemen waktu merupakan faktor penting yang membantu mahasiswa dalam menghadapi tuntutan akademik pada fase awal pendidikan kebidanan, serta berperan sebagai strategi koping preventif terhadap stres akademik.

Abstract

Malnutrition is still a problem in developing countries, including Indonesia, which ranks 4th with the incidence of malnutrition is still high. Toddlers with malnutrition can continue to be malnourished, impaired physical and mental growth and even increase the risk of illness and death. The purpose of this study was to review journals related to factors of malnutrition of children aged 12-59 months in developing countries. The research design was a literature review using a systematic mapping study method. There were 602 articles obtained and the number of articles selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria was 13 articles. Accredited and reputable article database from PubMed, DOAJ, Research Gate 1, and SINTA were then analyzed using the compare method. There were 16 factors related to undernutrition status in developing countries including the age of children more than 2 years, sex of male toddlers, low birth weight of children, not being given exclusive breastfeeding, inadequate nutritional intake, disease or infection, low maternal education, low fathers education, lack of knowledge of maternal nutrition, inappropriate eating parenting patterns, low family income or wealth index, rural areas, low maternal BMI, maternal age less than 20 years, non-routine ANC visits, access to drinking/clean water and poor sanitation. It was found that the dominant factor appeared and had a significant correlation, namely the age of toddlers over 2 years was more at risk of experiencing malnutrition and the factor of low maternal education would further increase the possibility of malnutrition in toddlers. The causes of undernutrition in children under five are very complex where there are many related factors, there are also dominant factors that can also be paid more attention to in order to prevent and minimize the incidence of malnutrition

Abstract

The selection of contraception methods is an important part in implementation family planning program that is to limit the number of births from every woman of childbearing age with birth controlthat 2 children areenough. One of the factors that influence the selection of contraceptive methods is parity of childbearing age. The purpose of this research was to determined the relationship between parity with the selection of contraceptive methods in women of childbearing age. Analytic research designed with a cross-sectional approach. Population in the research was all data of women of childbearing age the active participants of family planning January - December 2017 period. Sampling using simple random sampling technique amounting to 165. Based on the statistical test by using chi-squareαat = 0,05 obtained p-value = 0,000 <0,05 so it can be concluded that there was a significant correlation between parity with the choice of contraception method on women of childbearing age.

Abstract

The high number of midwifery graduates and the limited job opportunities emphasized the need to develop entrepreneurial interest through innovative educational approaches such as the project-based learning method. The purpose of the studies was to analyze the effect of project-based learning experience on the entrepreneurial interest of student. A correlational quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was used. The sample consisted of 60 final-year students from the Applied Midwifery Study Program in Kediri, selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using the spearman rank correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between Project-Based Learning experience and entrepreneurial interest (p = 0.000; r = 0.721). The greater the students' project-based learning experience, the higher their entrepreneurial interest. Project-based learning experience had a strong and positive influence on the entrepreneurial interest of midwifery students. These results indicate that the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) method is effective in fostering students’ active, collaborative, and creative attitudes, which are essential components in developing entrepreneurial interest. This finding reinforces the evidence that project-based learning is a relevant strategy to prepare midwifery graduates to be more independent and adaptive in facing the challenges of the job market.

Abstract

Abstract Proper nutrition during pregnancy plays a vital role in maintaining stable blood glucose levels and preventing gestational diabetes. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between dietary patterns and blood glucose levels in pregnant women. An analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted over two months at Sukorame Public Health Center in Kediri City. A total of 45 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters were selected using consecutive sampling. Dietary intake was assessed using a 24-hour food recall method and compared with the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA). Blood glucose levels were measured two hours postprandially using a glucometer. The majority of participants had normal dietary intake and normal blood glucose levels. The Fisher-Freeman-Halton test revealed a statistically significant association between dietary patterns and blood glucose levels (p = 0.021), with a Cramér’s V value of 0.502, indicating a moderate strength of association. These findings underscore the importance of balanced energy intake in regulating blood glucose during pregnancy. Therefore, enhancing nutritional education for pregnant women is strongly recommended, and future research should consider additional variables such as body mass index (BMI), physical activity, and stress factors.
