Abstract

This study examines the impact of the PAKEM (Active, Creative, Effective, and Joyful Learning) instructional model on students’ learning outcomes in the thematic unit “The Area Where I Live” among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 097795 Perasmian during the 2022/2023 academic year. Employing a quantitative research design, the study involved a population of 132 students drawn from grades I to VI. A purposive sampling technique was applied to select 30 students from grade IV as the research sample. Data analysis reveals that students taught using the PAKEM learning model achieved learning outcomes categorized as very good, with a mean score of 85.13. The correlation analysis indicates a strong positive relationship between the use of the PAKEM model and student learning outcomes, as evidenced by an obtained correlation coefficient of 0.841, which exceeds the critical value (rₜₐᵦₗₑ = 0.361). This result confirms the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. Furthermore, the t-test analysis demonstrates a statistically significant effect, with a calculated t-value of 8.215 surpassing the critical t-value of 2.048. These findings provide empirical evidence that the PAKEM learning model exerts a significant and positive influence on students’ learning outcomes. Consequently, the study underscores the effectiveness of student-centered and active learning approaches in enhancing thematic learning achievement at the elementary school level.

The study was conducted in class IV at SD Negeri 060938 Medan Johor using an associative quantitative research method. The population consisted of 36 fourth-grade students, and total (saturated) sampling was applied. The results show that the correlation coefficient obtained was rcount = 0.97, which is greater than rtable = 0.329, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This means there is a significant effect of parents’ parenting styles on students’ learning motivation. The t-test results also support this finding, with tcount = 25.73 exceeding ttable = 2.030, confirming that Ha is accepted. Overall, the findings demonstrate a positive and significant effect of parents’ parenting styles on the learning motivation of fourth-grade students in natural science subjects at SD Negeri 060938 Medan Johor in the academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

This paper discusses the influence of the contextual teaching and learning model on students’ learning outcomes on the beautiful theme of togetherness in Grade IV at SD Negeri 065013 Medan in the academic year 2023/2024. This study uses the quantitative method. The research population involved 30 grade IV students at SD 065013 Medan. The results imply that before the treatment students had an average learning outcome of 58.80 and the students did not meet the KKM. In addition, after being given the treatment, students had an average learning outcome of 82.63. With a normality testing result of 0.200, the conclusion is that the data are normally distributed. The result of the correlation test is 0.761, which means rcount (0.761) > rtable (0.361), then Ha is accepted. Therefore, there is a significant influence between the use of the contextual teaching and learning model on the student’s learning outcomes in grade IV at SD Negeri 065013 Medan. It can be seen from the results of the t-test where the tcount 6.214 > ttable 2.042 so Ha is accepted. This shows that there is a significant positive influence from the use of the contextual teaching and learning model on students’ learning outcomes on the beautiful theme of togetherness in grade IV at SD Negeri 065013 Medan in the academic year 2023/2024.

Abstract

This paper discusses the improvement of students’ learning outcomes and the process of learning implementation by applying the Mind Mapping learning model in order to find out whether there is an effect of the Mind Mapping learning model in the area where I live for students in class IV at UPT SD Negeri 064025 Medan Selayang in the academic year 2022/2023 or not. The research population is 105 students of class IV. The sample was taken by simple random sampling based on 30 students in Class IVC UPT SD Negeri 064025 in the academic year 2022/2023. The method was the experimental method. The experimental method was used to find out the effect of certain treatments on other treatments under controlled conditions. Based on the results of statistical processing, students’ learning outcomes by applying the Mind Mapping learning model are in a good category with an average score of 82.87. Meanwhile, students’ learning outcomes without applying the Mind Mapping learning model have not fulfilled the KKM that has been implemented with an average score of 47.4. By using the t-test, tcount is 8.602 while ttable is 2.042. Because tcount ≥ ttable, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It proves that there is a significant effect of the Mind Mapping learning model on the fourth-grade students’ learning outcomes at IV UPT SD Negeri 064025 Medan Selayang academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of using songs as learning media on fourth-grade students’ learning motivation in Natural Science subjects at Free Methodist 2 Private Elementary School, Medan, during the 2022/2023 academic year. The research employed an experimental method with a population of 84 fourth-grade students distributed across three classes. A purposive sampling technique was applied, selecting class IV C as the research sample, consisting of 30 students. The findings indicate that students’ learning motivation when using song-based media falls into the high category, with an average score of 79.23. The correlation analysis yielded a coefficient of 0.865, where the calculated r-value exceeded the r-table value (0.865 ≥ 0.361), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. Furthermore, the results of the t-test demonstrate a significant effect of song media on students’ learning motivation, as shown by the calculated t-value being greater than the t-table value (9.123 ≥ 1.071). These results confirm that the use of song media has a positive and significant influence on fourth-grade students’ motivation in learning Natural Science at Free Methodist 2 Elementary School, Medan, in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of basic literacy activities on the reading interest of fifth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 068008 Medan Tuntungan during the 2022/2023 academic year. A quantitative research design was employed to measure the relationship between literacy activities and students’ reading interest. The research population consisted of all 29 students in grade V, and a saturated sampling technique was applied, involving the entire VA class. Prior to the implementation of the literacy activities, students achieved an average reading interest score of 82.2, which falls within the moderate category. Data analysis indicated that the dataset was normally distributed, as shown by the normality test value of 0.936. Furthermore, the correlation analysis revealed a coefficient of 0.720, exceeding the critical value (rcount = 0.720 ≥ rtable = 0.367), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. This result demonstrates a strong positive relationship between basic literacy activities and students’ reading interest. The significance of this relationship was further confirmed through a t-test analysis, where the calculated value (tcount = 5.391) exceeded the critical value (ttable = 1.703). These findings indicate that basic literacy activities have a statistically significant and positive effect on the reading interest of fifth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 068008 Medan Tuntungan. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of structured basic literacy activities plays an important role in fostering students’ reading interest at the elementary school level.
