Abstract

Surgery is one of procedur to cure of the disease with method cut and slice of the body. Almost surgery use general aenesthesia before the procedure began. After general anesthesia procedure, the acumulation of mucus secretion in respiratory tract have occured. The accamulatin of mucus secretion it it cause by intubation endotracheal tube procedure or effect of anesthetic agens itself. The mucus accumulation can lead improving of bacterial colonization, especially Staphylococcus aureus which was a normal flora and might become pathogenic when amount more than usual. Staphylococcus aureus were increasingly more and colonized in respiratory tract, especially in pharix, would getted into the lungs and caused pneumonia nosocomial. One of nurse efforts to protect the patient from pneumonia nosocomial is minimized the colonization of Staphylococcus aureus by implementing effective cough and deep breath. The procedure can do after surgery in post operative phase to help patient removed the excessive mucus secretions, it's mean amount of bacteria that contained in the mucus can minimized. This research is quasy experiment study. The design of the study is posttest only experimental design with non-equivalent control group design. The samples in this study were 20 respondents postoperative patients with general aenesthesia divided into 2 groups (control group and the experimental group). The intervention (effective cough and deep breath procedure) is given to the experimental group. Data were analyzed by independent t-test. The results showed that t value = 4.405 (p value = 0.000 < 0.05), that mean the procedure of effective coughing and deep breathing have effected to reduce the colonization of Staphylococcus aureus in secret of patients post surgery with general aenesthesia in Soebandi Jember Hospital and could have minimized risk of pneumonia nosocomial.

Abstract

Post-operative patients with general anesthesia are highly risk of mucus hypersecretion and respiratory distress as the effect of anesthesia caused by secretions accumulation in oropharynx. One of nursing interventions to decrease accumulation of mucus is by oral hygiene. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of using chlorhexidine 0.2% and povidone iodine 1% as oral decontamination to the colonization of Staphylo-coccus aureus of post-operative patients in mawar ward at Dr. Abdoer Rahem Hospital Situbondo. This study was a quasy experimental research with non-equivalent control group design. The samples in this study were 20 samples divided into two groups 10 as the treatment group was given chlorhexidine 0.2% and 10 as the control group was  given povidone iodine 1%. Data were analyzed by using Mann-Whitney. The result of Mann-Whitney test showed p value (0.490) > alpha (0.05). However, there was no difference between chlorhexidine 0.2% and povidone iodine 1% as oral decontamination for colonization of Staphylococcus aureus of post-operative patients in mawar ward at Dr. Abdoer Rahem Hospital Situbondo. The conclusion is chlorhexidine 0.2% and povidone iodine 1% can be used as oral decontamination for post-operative patients with general anesthesia.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, caregivers and parents play a crucial role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, necessitating adjustments in self-care and the acquisition of essential caregiving skills. Research efforts are focused on developing effective health promotion programs and understanding the pandemic's impacts on individuals with intellectual disabilities, highlighting the importance of systematic literature reviews in synthesizing knowledge for effective caregiving during this crisis. This research aimed to systematically review literature related to stimulating development for health promotion in children with intellectual disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. A systematic literature review searched keywords related to variables and sample groups. Data sources were electronic databases, including Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and PubMed. The research included studies on the care and health support of individuals with intellectual disabilities over the past 10 years, from September 1, 2021, to January 1, 2022. Among these studies, 8 were selected, focusing on stimulating development and health support for children with intellectual disabilities. The systematic review yielded four programs: 1) Health education in classrooms to promote the health of individuals with intellectual disabilities, 2) Health record registration and health check-ups to promote health, 3) Training with equipment, and 4) Weight reduction and body mass index improvement programs to promote health among individuals with intellectual disabilities. The literature review revealed an increase in knowledge about programs for stimulating development and promoting health in children with intellectual disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

Abstract

Background: Providing healthy latrines for each family is an effort to reduce open defecation. However, there are still many open defecation incidents, which can increase the risk of fecal-oral transmission of disease. Many factors influence open defecation behavior, one of which is socio-demographic factors. Purpose: This study aims to analyze socio-demographic factors' influence on family latrine utilization behavior. Method: This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 138 respondents using the cluster random sampling technique. The independent variables are age, gender, education, income, and number of family members. Meanwhile, the dependent variable is the behavior of using the family toilet. The instrument used was a questionnaire that was analyzed using multiple logistic regression and mean difference tests. Results: Most respondents were aged 41 – 60 years (73.2%), women (57.3%), secondary education (55.8%), with family members of less than four people (81.88%), and all respondents earned less than the minimum wage (100%). Most respondents had family latrine utilization behavior in the high category (66.7%). The modeling test showed the model fit (p = 0.034; R2 = 0.162). It showed that age, gender, education, income and number of family members simultaneously significantly affect family latrine utilization behavior by 16.2%. However, partially, only the educational factor had a significant effect (p=0.001). In addition, the mean difference test shows significant differences in family latrine utilization behavior based on age and education level (p=0.002; p=0.001). Conclusions: The socio-demographic factor that significantly influences latrine use behavior is the level of education. In carrying out health promotion efforts to increase family latrine utilization behavior, health workers should consider educational level factors to achieve the goal and reduce open defecation behavior.
