Abstract

Abstract

The availability of clean water needs to be a special concern in the community, because there are several cases in various regions in Indonesia where the availability of clean water sources becomes difficult to obtain during the long dry season, one of which is in the West Nusa Tenggara region, specifically in Sasake Village, Praya Tengah District, Central Lombok Regency. The main water source used in Sasake Village is PDAM water. However, in recent years, several villages in Central Lombok Regency have experienced drought, making it difficult to obtain clean water. The BPBD of Central Lombok Regency must prepare clean water at the peak of the dry season for several villages, including Sasake Village. Alternative water sources in Sasake Village are wells and the Batujai Reservoir. However, at the peak of the dry season, the water in several wells becomes cloudy and smelly, so residents cannot use it as clean water. This community service initiative seeks to implement a user-friendly downflow water filtration system designed for community-level ownership, operation, and maintenance. The design of this filter uses a 4" PVC pipe containing filter media, including sand, palm fiber, charcoal (activated carbon), and cotton. This physical water purification process excludes chemical and biological reactions, relying instead on gravity-driven separation of suspended solids from the fluid phase. Based on the filtering results, it is known that this tool can reduce turbidity concentration by 69.3% and eliminate odors. According to the evaluation results of the counseling participants, there has been a significant increase in understanding of simple water filtration methods. Counseling regarding this water filtration tool is crucial so that the community can overcome clean water problems independently.

Abstract

The magnitude of energy loss in a piping network significantly affects the flow rate that the network can produce. Furthermore, it is important to understand the effect of changes in energy loss and pressure due to changes in the head of the water source. This allows the characteristics of these changes and their impact on the resulting flow rate and discharge to be used as important information in irrigation network design. This test aims to determine the characteristics of the secondary energy loss and residual pressure generated by a perforated irrigation network that uses three secondary network pipes as perforations. The irrigation test was conducted at four head variations: 3.5 m, 3.6 m, 3.7 m, and 3.8 m. The energy loss analysis used the Bernoulli equation, and major and minor energy losses were analyzed at each head variation, including the amount of available water pressure utilized to flow water through the perforated pipe holes. The analysis results showed that a 1 m increase in primary pipe length resulted in an increase in network energy loss of 0.02 m, and each 0.1 m increase in head from 3.5 m resulted in an increase in total energy loss of 0.01 m. At L1  a head of 3.5 m, the pressure is 2.12 m, and at a head of 3.8 m, the pressure is 2.36 m. At L2, the pressure head ranges from 1.97 m to 2.21 m, while at L3, the pressure head ranges from 1.84 m to 2.07 m. Therefore, every 0.1 m increase in head increases the pressure head by 0.08 m in the perforated irrigation network.

Abstract

The Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is currently a leading destination not only in Lombok but also in Indonesia. The presence of the Mandalika Circuit as a MotoGP race venue, along with the beauty of the coastal landscape and other tourism potential, makes Mandalika a Super Priority Destination. The Mandalika SEZ is located in three river basins, namely Tebelo Ngolang and Balak. Behind the splendor of the Mandalika Circuit and other supporting infrastructure lies a series of flood data that hit the area, including the floods of January 30, 2021, and December 23, 2022. Based on these events, a study is needed to map the flood risk in the three watersheds and the Mandalika SEZ. This flood risk map can later serve as a basis for formulating policies and anticipatory measures for future flooding. The required data includes rainfall data, land use maps, topographic maps, land use maps, slope maps, and geological/soil type data. The data were then analyzed using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and then overlaid using the ArcGIS software program. Based on the overlay results and weighting of the supporting factors for flooding, flood vulnerability at the study location can be determined. The results showed that the Tebelo Watershed is divided into 3 categories, namely a moderately vulnerable area of 270.32 ha, a vulnerable area of 479.89 ha and a very vulnerable area in the downstream area of 85.44 ha. The Ngolang Watershed is divided into two categories dominated by a vulnerable area of 930.97 ha and a moderately vulnerable area of 568.68 ha. Meanwhile, the Balak Watershed is divided into two categories, namely a vulnerable area of 1,418.59 ha and a moderately vulnerable area of 1,243.53 ha

Abstract

Meninting Dam, constructed in 2019 in West Lombok Regency, is a newly built reservoir that is vulnerable to sedimentation caused by land erosion in its upstream catchment area. This study aims to estimate the erosion rate, sedimentation rate, and predicted service life of the Meninting Dam as a basis for early sediment management planning. Erosion was calculated using the Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation (MUSLE), while sedimentation was estimated using the Sediment Delivery Ratio (SDR) based on the Boyce (1975) method, integrated with spatial analysis using QGIS. The results show that the erosion rate in the Meninting Dam catchment area reaches 884,467.83 tons/year, producing a sedimentation rate of 40,526.39 m³/year and an estimated dam service life of approximately 45 years. These findings indicate that erosion-induced sedimentation poses a significant long-term risk to the storage capacity of the Meninting Dam and highlight the importance of early erosion control and sediment management strategies for newly constructed reservoirs.
