Abstract

The study of chemistry in living systems through a contextual approach based on local wisdom aims to (1) identify publication trends; (2) identify dominant research subjects; (3) examine learning approaches; (4) identify chemical materials most frequently associated with living systems; (5) describe forms of local wisdom integration; and (6) examine the research methods used. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with a qualitative descriptive design for articles from the 2020–2026 period. The research procedure includes identification, selection, analysis, and synthesis of articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research objects are scientific articles on local wisdom-based chemistry learning. Data were collected through scientific database searches and analyzed descriptively. Of the 50 articles found, 17 articles met the analysis criteria. The results of the study show that: (1) publications increased in 2023–2025; (2) research subjects were dominated by high school students; (3) the ethnochemical approach was most widely used; (4) frequently studied materials included acids and bases, environmental chemistry, and colloidal systems; (5) integration of local wisdom is carried out through cultural analogies, utilization of local resources, and the environment as a learning context; and (6) type of research dominated by qualitative and development approaches. In conclusion, local wisdom-based chemistry learning has the potential to strengthen the relevance of learning and students' chemical literacy.

Abstract

Masalah lingkungan yang terkait dengan penggunaan bahan kimia yang meluas dan seringkali tanpa pertimbangan kritis menyoroti urgensi pengintegrasian prinsip keberlanjutan ke dalam pendidikan kimia. Studi ini bertujuan untuk: (1) meneliti konsep pendidikan kimia berkelanjutan berdasarkan temuan penelitian sebelumnya, (2) mendeskripsikan konsep literasi kimia dari perspektif pendidikan kimia dan lingkungan, (3) menganalisis peran pendidikan kimia berkelanjutan dan literasi kimia dalam membentuk perilaku sadar lingkungan, (4) mengidentifikasi model dan strategi pembelajaran kimia yang berorientasi pada peningkatan kesadaran lingkungan, (5) merumuskan implikasi teoritis untuk pengembangan pendidikan berorientasi lingkungan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode tinjauan pustaka. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis tematik dan sintesis naratif. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pendidikan kimia berkelanjutan adalah paradigma yang mengintegrasikan konsep kimia dengan isu lingkungan sehingga siswa memahami mekanisme polusi, risiko kimia, dan solusi kimia hijau sebagai dasar tanggung jawab ekologis, (2) literasi kimia berfungsi sebagai landasan kognitif untuk menafsirkan informasi kimia secara kritis, mengenali bahaya, dan membuat keputusan yang bertanggung jawab, (3) pendidikan kimia berkelanjutan dan literasi kimia berfungsi sebagai penentu utama perilaku pro-lingkungan dengan menjembatani kesenjangan antara pengetahuan dan tindakan yang bertanggung jawab, (4) model aktif dan kontekstual seperti praktikum berbasis penyelidikan, berbasis penemuan, berbasis masalah, dan berorientasi pada keterampilan proses sains secara efektif memperkuat kesadaran lingkungan dan literasi kimia, (5) integrasi keduanya mendefinisikan kembali pendidikan kimia sebagai sarana untuk membentuk individu yang kompeten secara ilmiah, sadar lingkungan, dan bertanggung jawab secara sosial. Kesimpulannya, integrasi sistematis keberlanjutan dan literasi kimia dalam kurikulum sangat penting untuk menumbuhkan perilaku lingkungan jangka panjang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan produk sekaligus mendeskripsikan validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan media pembelajaran aplikasi kuis congklak pada materi zat aditif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4D yang meliputi define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Subjek uji coba terbatas adalah 23 peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Suwawa. Data dikumpulkan melalui validasi ahli, observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, angket respons peserta didik, observasi aktivitas, serta tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validitas media memperoleh skor rata-rata 3,83 dengan kategori sangat valid. Kepraktisan media ditunjukkan oleh keterlaksanaan pembelajaran selama dua pertemuan dengan rata-rata 87,5% dan respons peserta didik sebesar 89,78%, keduanya berada pada kategori sangat baik. Keefektifan media ditunjukkan oleh aktivitas peserta didik sebesar 91,35%, nilai N-Gain hasil belajar kognitif sebesar 0,82 pada kategori tinggi, hasil belajar afektif sebesar 89,89%, dan psikomotor sebesar 89,19%. Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran aplikasi kuis congklak pada materi zat aditif memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the suitability of data obtained from the Constructivist Learning Environment Survey instrument and a multiple-choice chemistry understanding test, as well as to examine the relationship between students' perceptions of the constructivist learning environment and their understanding of chemistry concepts. A non-experimental, quantitative descriptive approach was employed, involving 519 12th-grade science students from five high schools in Gorontalo Province during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data analysis was conducted using the Rasch model via Winsteps 3.73 software to assess instrument quality, and SPSS software to test data normality and analyze correlations. The results indicated that both instruments were valid and reliable, with person reliability of 0.81, item reliability of 0.99, and Cronbach’s Alpha exceeding 0.80—classified as excellent. A Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the calculated r value exceeded the critical value (rcount= 0.135 > rtable= 0.087), indicating a statistically significant, albeit weak, positive relationship between students’ perceptions and their chemistry understanding. The hypothesis testing results showed that the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted, confirming the existence of a relationship between students’ perceptions of constructivist learning environments and their understanding of chemistry concepts.

Abstract

Measuring critical thinking skills (CTS) in the topic of atomic structure requires a diagnostic instrument capable of capturing students' reasoning patterns accurately, rather than merely distinguishing between correct and incorrect answers. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a complex multiple-choice diagnostic instrument based on the Rasch model to measure students' CTS on the concept of atomic structure. The instrument comprised ten items developed based on Facione's six dimensions of critical thinking: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. Data were collected from 850 senior high school students in Gorontalo, Indonesia, and analyzed using the Partial Credit Model (PCM) approach with WINSTEPS 4.5.5 software. Results indicated that item reliability was very high (0.99; separation = 10.63), while person reliability was moderate (0.61; Cronbach's Alpha = 0.65). Infit and Outfit MNSQ values ranged within the ideal threshold (0.99–1.00) with ZSTD values approaching zero, confirming adequate model fit. Category Probability Curve (CPC) analysis confirmed that response categories functioned sequentially, while the Wright Map demonstrated a progressive difficulty hierarchy from the interpretation to the self-regulation dimension. Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis revealed differential difficulty levels based on gender and grade level, particularly for self-regulation items, which proved more challenging for female students and Grade XI students. These findings underscore the importance of considering cognitive factors and learning experience in developing Rasch-based CTS diagnostic instruments for chemistry education
