Abstract

The amount of rice production in Indonesia every year is always increasing. The results of the rice mill produce waste material, namely husks. Along with the increase in rice production, the amount of rice husk waste has also increased. The purpose of this service is to assist the community in utilizing husk waste to make a useful product. The approach used in implementing the KKN program for the people of Jagapura Kulon Village, Gegesik District, Cirebon Regency, is a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) with five stages of design thinking. The dedication results show that the shoe rack and sandals that will be made use eco-friendly materials that use the waste from rice husks. The culture of reuse, reduce and recycle must also be applied to organic waste to reduce the use of new materials or materials. The manufacture of shoe and sandal racks is also expected to reduce the felling of trees used to make conventional shoe racks made of wood. Through RASENDAL products, we can reduce the use of new materials using unused waste.

Abstract

Abstract Agriculture is an important sector for Indonesia. Because around 30% of the population works in the agricultural industry. Currently, agricultural conditions in Indonesia are facing challenges due to climate anomalies. Unpredictable climate changes, shorter growing seasons, an increase in pests and diseases and these conditions have an impact on increasing production costs while yields are not optimal. Climate change is one of the obstacles in increasing plant productivity. The negative impacts of extreme global climate change include the degradation of land and water resources, damage to agricultural and irrigation infrastructure, the emergence of floods and droughts, and increased attacks by pests and plant diseases. Therefore, farmers need knowledge and farming skills that are adaptive to climate change or what is known as Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA). Climate Smart Agriculture is a useful approach to guide the actions needed to transform and reorient agricultural systems to effectively support development and ensure food security in conditions of climate change. CSA technology focuses on climate resilience and food security with the main objectives being: 1.) Increasing agricultural productivity and income in a sustainable manner, 2.) Adapting and building food security to climate change, 3.) Reducing and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions (Mitigation), 4.) Optimizing the use of various resources. So it is hoped that optimal results will be obtained in the agricultural sector. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The researchers use research data in the form of secondary data obtained from a number of credible sources such as scientific articles, books and a number of other sources that are credible and commonly used in research. These data were analyzed using analytical tools with stages of data collection, data selection, data reduction and drawing conclusions. Abstract

Climate change is a major threat to food security, especially for farmers in vulnerable areas facing the challenges of climate change. This study aimed to modify the plant genome to increase tolerance to extreme climatic conditions such as drought and high temperatures using genetic engineering methods based on CRISPR-Cas9 technology. Transgenic and control plants were grown in a laboratory experimental design with a quantitative approach. The results showed that the transgenic plants consistently outperformed the control plants under drought, high temperature, and low nutrient conditions. The transgenic plant showed a growth rate of 15.2 and average productivity of 25.7, higher than the control (12.3 and 19.1). Under high temperature conditions, the increase in productivity was even greater, reaching 33.2%, indicating that the inserted HSP gene successfully protects important proteins from heat stress damage. Genetic modification through the expression of genes such as DREB1A, HSP70, and PHR1 was shown to increase plant resistance to environmental stress. With these findings, biotechnology provides a real opportunity to build more adaptive and sustainable agricultural systems, supporting global food needs amid the intensifying challenges of global warming. This research is very relevant in answering the big challenge in the future, which is how to ensure biotechnology can be utilised sustainably to meet the world's growing food needs, without compromising ecosystems and biodiversity.
