Abstract

This research aims to create a prototype device in the form of an alarm capable of detecting landslide disasters in Donggala Regency. It is expected to be utilized in the environmental physics subject at the secondary school level. The study utilizes long-range communication (LoRa) and Telegram application as an early warning notification system for landslide disasters. The research method adopts the Research and Development (R&D) design adapted from Sugiyono's development research, consisting of potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, product testing, analysis, and reporting. The survey was employed as a data collection instrument. The quality or feasibility of the developed prototype, based on expert validation, indicates a "Very Good" category, and students' responses to the tool testing also show a "Very Good" category. Thus, the IoT-based landslide detection alarm prototype has been well-developed and is suitable for use in physics education at the secondary school level.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out as an effort to improve the competence of madrasah teachers in developing science learning that is integrated with the values of the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as encouraging the creation of a child-friendly learning environment. The background of this activity is based on the fact that teachers still find it difficult to develop learning strategies that are able to connect scientific concepts with religious teachings, resulting in low student readiness to face academic competition at the madrasah level. The main objective of this program is to provide technical guidance to teachers so that they are more skilled in designing integrated learning, while also increasing student readiness to face national science competitions. This activity was carried out at MTsN 2 Palu, involving eight science teachers and Al-Qur'an and Hadith teachers, as well as 22 students in grades VII to IX. This activity was designed in five stages, namely needs analysis, development of integrated science modules, focused group discussions, teacher and student mentoring, and evaluation. The developed module contains five main science themes integrated with verses from the Qur'an and Hadith, and is used as the primary tool in learning. The results of the activity show that teachers have improved their skills in developing science and religion-based learning strategies, while students have benefited from increased motivation, confidence, and ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce a video learning content on atomic theory. This research uses the design and development design that employs the ADDIE model. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a four-likert scale admistered on content experts, linguists, media experts, teachers and 10 students of MA AL-KHAIRAAT Tomini. The validity of the content, language and media aspects was said to be good with scores of 3.25; 3.33 and 3.28 respectively. Meanwhile, the scores obtained from teachers and students of class XI IPA were 3.87 and 3.51, both of which were in the "Strongly Agree" category. The results showed that the atomic theory learning video in the Tialo language was suitable for use in learning activities and could increase the concentration level of students. The theoretical implications of this research, namely the instructional video can increase learning motivation in students and the practical implication is that the instructional video is used as resources for teachers and prospective teachers to be used in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) in solving HOTS questions for prospective physics teacher students. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research are second semester students who have joined the Basic Physics course for Archimedes' Principle, amounting to 46 people. The instrument used was a Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) questionnaire, which consisted of 40 statement items, 8 essay questions about HOTS, and interview guidelines. Based on the results of the study, it showed that from the maximum percentage (100%) in each Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) obtained the combination of diverger and assimilator learning styles as the highest average percentage (65.63%) in solving HOTS questions correctly compared to the other learning styles. It is followed by the accomodator (56.25%), the combination of assimilator and converger (54.17%), diverger (53.41%), assimilator (49.22%), and converger (48.61%). There are differences in Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) in solving HOTS questions for prospective physics teacher students where students still experience errors in answering questions. The forms of incorrect answers given by students include: 1) Objects with a smaller surface area must be sink, 2) Heavy objects must be sink, 3) The amount of water affects the state of floating and sinking, 4) Hollow objects always float, and 5) Objects made of something hard must be sink. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the ability of prospective physics teacher students in solving HOTS questions must be trained by adjusting their learning styles.

Abstract

The paper reports the experiment in the laboratory in making FTO by employing spray pyrolysis methods, its application in DSSC, and its implementation in physics learning. The methodology in this research was mixed methods (experiment and qualitative methods). The experimental section was conducted by dissolving SnCl2.2H2O and NH4F in 96% alcohol and then depositioned on a glass substrate on a hotplate with a temperature of 450◦C using an Omron NE-C28 nebulizer. Spraying was carried out for 20 minutes then characterized morphology (SEM), content (EDS), crystal structure (XRD), transmittance (UV-VIS), and voltage-current (IV). Based on investigations using Scanning Electron Microscopy and Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy, it is known that transparent conductive SnO2:F particles have been formed. By using XRD, Nanometer-sized crystalline particles have also been identified. Furthermore, the FTO electrode is utilized as an electrode on DSSC and its performance is measured. In the qualitative section, students and researchers were interviewed about the physical aspect of the FTO fabrication process. Then, interview results were used to design laboratory physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach on the collaboration skills of junior high school students. The study employed a true experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The research population consisted of all 148 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 18 Palu in the 2023/2024 academic year. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique based on specific considerations from the physics teachers at SMP Negeri 18 Palu. Class VII A was designated as the experimental group that implemented the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach within the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model, while Class VII B served as the control group using the scientific approach in PjBL. The instrument used was a collaboration skills observation sheet consisting of four assessment indicators. The results of data analysis using the Independent Sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.004 < 0.05. These findings indicate that the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach has a significant effect on students’ collaboration skills. Therefore, the implementation of STEAM-based learning is an effective alternative for enhancing students’ collaboration skills in science learning at the junior high school level. Furthermore, these findings confirm that the STEAM approach is not only relevant for integrating multiple disciplines but also contributes significantly to the development of 21st-century collaboration skills, thereby strengthening and extending previous studies that primarily focused on improving students’ learning outcomes and creativity.
