Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a critical developmental period marked by biological, psychological, and social changes that increase vulnerability to mental-emotional disorders. Mental-emotional disorders among adolescents may impair academic performance, social relationships, and overall well-being. In Indonesia, particularly at the regional level, evidence regarding comprehensive biopsychosocial determinants among junior high school students remains limited. Purpose: To identify the biopsychosocial determinants associated with mental-emotional disorders among adolescents. Method: A cross-sectional design conducted from May to November 2025. A total of 101 students were selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Mental-emotional disorders were measured using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Independent variables included physical activity, sleep quality, academic burnout, smartphone addiction, peer support, bullying, parenting style, and sex. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the chi-square test and prevalence ratio (PR) at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The prevalence of mental-emotional disorders among students was 41.6%. Significant associations were found between mental-emotional disorders and low physical activity (PR=2.7; 95% CI: 1.750–4.393), poor sleep quality (PR=2.4; 95% CI: 1.483–3.974), high academic burnout (PR=2.5; 95% CI: 1.604–4.162), smartphone addiction (PR=1.9; 95% CI: 1.269–3.109), low peer support (PR=1.8; 95% CI: 1.150–3.032), and experiences of bullying (PR=13.7; 95% CI: 4.558–41.760). Sex and parenting style were not significantly associated with mental-emotional disorders. Conclusion: Mental-emotional disorders among adolescents are significantly influenced by multiple biopsychosocial factors, particularly lifestyle behaviors, academic stress, peer relationships, and bullying experiences. School-based promotive and preventive interventions focusing on physical activity, sleep hygiene, stress management, strengthening peer support, and bullying prevention are strongly recommended. Keyword: Academic Burnout; Adolescents; Biopsychosocial Factors; Bullying; Mental-Emotional Disorders.

Abstract

Abstract

The health status of the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community remains a serious concern, particularly regarding mortality, morbidity, nutrition, and reproductive health. Nutritional problems among toddlers, adolescents, women of reproductive age, and the wider community continue to contribute to poor health outcomes. In addition, childbirth and reproductive health complications are still major factors causing high infant mortality rates within SAD communities. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of mentoring and educational interventions for SAD Posyandu cadres in improving their knowledge and practical skills. The study used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design and was conducted at the SAD community hall in Dwi Karya Bakti Village, Pelepat District, Bungo Regency, Jambi. The study population consisted of all SAD Posyandu cadres, totaling 19 participants. Most cadres were unemployed, with 6 men (31.6%) and 13 women (68.4%). Fourteen participants (73.7%) had low educational backgrounds, while 5 participants (26.3%) had higher education levels. The youngest respondent was 12 years old, and the oldest was 31 years old, with an average age of 18.53 years and a standard deviation of 5.037 years. Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.002 (<0.05), indicating a significant increase in knowledge after the educational intervention. Therefore, continuous mentoring and training are recommended to strengthen cadre competencies and sustain independent health services. Strengthening community participation through regular Posyandu activities may also help reduce preventable diseases, maternal complications, and infant deaths among SAD families.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are musculoskeletal system disorders affecting muscles, joints, tendons, and supporting tissues that may arise due to non-ergonomic working postures and repetitive occupational activities. Hospital management employees are considered a high-risk group for MSDs because their work predominantly involves prolonged sitting and extensive computer use. This study was conducted to examine the association between work posture and repetitive movements with the occurrence of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) among management employees at Prof. Dr. H.M. Chatib Quzwain Regional Hospital, Sarolangun. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study involved 31 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire to identify MSD complaints, the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method to evaluate work posture, and direct observation to assess repetitive work activities. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate techniques with the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level. The findings revealed that 58.1% of respondents experienced moderate MSD complaints, 80.6% demonstrated high-risk work postures, and 54.8% engaged in repetitive work activities categorized as risky. The bivariate analysis showed that work posture was not significantly related to MSD occurrence (p = 0.656), whereas repetitive movements had a significant association with MSDs (p = 0.022). These findings indicate that repetitive work activities play a more substantial role in the development of MSDs than work posture among hospital management employees. Therefore, the implementation of ergonomic workplace practices and adequate rest periods is recommended to minimize the risk of MSDs.

Abstract

Background: Measles is a highly contagious disease that primarily affects children, particularly those aged 1–4 years, who account for the highest proportion of cases both nationally and in Jambi Province. The decline in routine immunization coverage during and after the COVID-19 pandemic has widened the immunity gap, triggering a surge in measles cases across Indonesia, including Jambi Province, where the incidence rate of suspected measles rose sharply from 0.55 per 100,000 population in 2021 to 25.05 per 100,000 in 2023, leading to outbreaks in 2022 and 2023. However, epidemiological research using individual-level surveillance data remains limited in Jambi Province. Purpose: To analyze Exploratory Data on Measles Transmission in Children Aged 0-4 Years. Method: This analytical descriptive research applied  the  Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) approach using RStudio software. Secondary data is sourced from the Jambi Provincial Health Office's Measles-Rubella Case Tracking Individual Report Form (MR02). From an initial population of 456 suspected children aged 0-4 years, final samples were obtained from 332 cases that met the inclusion criteria (96 confirmed positive/equivocal cases of measles IgM and 236 negative cases). Analysis and visualization of the place was carried out up to the sub-district level. Results: The incidence rate of measles under five years jumped sharply from 0.64 per 100,000 population (2021) to a peak of 12.50 per 100,000 population (2023), before finally declining in 2024–2025. Confirmed cases are dominated by the age group of 36-59 months (43.8%) and children with unvaccinated status (56.2%). The age group of 24-35 months is the age group that dominates the immunization status who are not immunized with a proportion of 76.5% of children. Measles cases are distributed almost throughout Jambi Province with the highest case burden in Jambi City (Kota Baru and Lake Sipin Districts), Sarolangun Regency (Pelawan District), and Tebo Regency (Rimbo Bujang, Sumay, and Central Tebo Regencies), which is directly proportional to the low local second dose immunization coverage (MR2). Time-based analysis shows a fluctuating pattern of local transmission and there is a tendency for cases to increase in August-October. Excellent specimen condition (97.9% good condition), but experiencing extreme administrative and diagnostic delays (Turnaround Time / TAT) with the highest median reaching 101 days in 2023. Conclusion: The incidence of measles in toddlers aged 0-4 years in Jambi Province for the 2021-2025 period shows an uneven distribution according to people, places, and times. The age group of 36-59 months and cases with no immunization history are the most affected groups, with the concentration of cases in Jambi City, Tebo Regency, and Sarolangun Regency. The increase in incidence in 2023 and the still low coverage of MR2 immunization in several risk areas, accompanied by laboratory turnaround time that has not met standards, shows the need to strengthen the immunization program and measles surveillance system.
