Abstract

Abstract: The guided inquiry learning model is one of the learning models that can improve student learningoutcomes and student learning activities which is a learning model where teachers and students determineand formulate problems together, and students actively seek and find answers and draw their ownconclusions. The purpose of the study was to determine the results of science learning on the material ofPlant Structure and Function of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 12 Medan. To determine the Effect ofthe Guided Inquiry Learning Model on Student Learning Outcomes on the Material of Plant Structure andFunction in Class VIII SMP Negeri 12 Medan. This research method uses a quantitative research method. The form of research is Quasi Experimental Design. The research design is a two group design. Datacollection techniques were carried out using pre-research observations, interviews with Class VIII scienceteachers, conducting written tests on students in the form of questions, non-tests or questionnaires, observingstudent activities, and documentation in the form of research images and photos and value documents relatedto the results. Data analysis using hypothesis testing (one-sided t-test) and N-Gain testing. Based on theresults of the t-test, the obtained t-value is 4.66> t-table 2.00. This means that the results of the hypothesistest t-count are greater than t-table. Next, based on the results of the N-gain test, the increase in learningoutcomes in the control class was higher, namely 69% compared to the increase in student learning outcomesof 52%. So that the Guided Inquiry Learning Model applied to the experimental class in this study has aneffect on student learning outcomes in the material on the Structure and Function of Plants in class VIII ofSMP Negeri 12 Medan. Keywords: Learning

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the validity of the practicum kit that has been developed, the validity of the chemistry practicum guide integrated with the inquiry model, and the impact of using chemistry practicum manuals and kits on student learning outcomes. This study was carried out to address a number of issues with the way chemistry practicum is implemented in schools, including a lack of resources and instruments, a procedural approach, and a low level of student participation. Participants in this study included practicum guides that were integrated with the Inquiry model, five chemistry teachers, two peer reviewers, two lecturers from Medan State University, and up to 22 MAS Muta'allimin Aceh Besar students in class XI MIA 1. According to the ADDIE framework, this experiment fits within the category of development research. Tests of student learning outcomes and validation sheets of practicum manuals and kits were used to gather data. SPSS 21 software was used to analyze the data using quantitative descriptive statistical techniques, such as normality tests and One Sample T-Test hypothesis testing. According to the results, the practicum kits and instructions created had an average score of 3.54, coming into the "very feasible" category. Furthermore, the average learning outcome for students using practicum kits and manuals is 3.54, coming into the "very feasible" category.

Abstract

Efforts to improve the quality of education are influenced by the factors involved during the learning process; such as teachers, curriculum, infrastructure, and the environment. This is in line with Law no. 20 of 2003 which states that "Learning is a process of student interaction and learning resources in a learning environment". Over time, the foundations of the world of education began to be neglected, so that UNESCO (United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization) initiated four pillars of education to improve the quality of education, namely: Learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together. To realize the four pillars of education in the current era of information globalization, teachers as learning agents are required to master and apply Information and Communication Technology in learning. This study aims to measure students' problem solving abilities using macromedia flash chemistry learning media. This type of research is R&D. The subjects in this study were 35 students of class X SMA Negeri 4 Binjai. The data taken is in the form of the results of the feasibility of macromedia flash-based chemistry learning media in measuring students' problem-solving abilities and the responses given. From the data generated, 95.71% of students gave positive responses and out of 35 students there were 2 students who had very low scores, so it can be concluded that macromedia flash-based chemistry learning media can be used

Abstract

The cultural wealth of Indonesia has great potential in chemistry education, but it has not been optimally utilized. Materials such as reaction rates can be contextualized through traditional processes, such as the fermentation of tuak. The lack of relevant teaching materials impacts students' low interest and critical thinking skills. Therefore, an innovation in the form of ethnopedagogy-based Student Worksheets with a Problem Based Learning model is needed to create meaningful learning. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The instruments used consist of 5 essay questions to measure critical thinking skills and a questionnaire containing 20 statements to measure learning interest. A hypothesis test was conducted using a one-tailed Independent Sample T-Test. The results show that the average learning interest of students in the experiment class is higher compared to the control class, namely 90.25 and 85.625, respectively. Meanwhile, the average posttest score for students' critical thinking ability in the experimental class reached 92.25 higher than the control class, which scored 83.5. This shows that the use of Student Worksheet based on ethnopedagogy and Problem Based Learning has an influence on students' learning interest and critical thinking.

Abstract

The food crisis is a condition when acute food hazards and net malnutrition increase sharply. One reason is due to a slowdown in food production. In 1627, a new farming method was known, called hydroponics, namely the method of growing with the help of water. After further investigation, it was found that the cultivation method with water will eventually produce plants that are as good as plants grown using soil media. Therefore, this research will explore the benefits of using hydroponic media in leek cultivation. In this study, there were two containers, the first container was not subject to the application of pesticides, while the second container was watered with onion peel vegetable pesticides twice a week. The results of the leek planting experiment in the hydroponic system and media showed that the maximum height achieved by the leek plants tested was as high as 22.8 cm, and only 3 out of 17 total plants died.
