Abstract

The increasing number of elderly people demands the formulation of innovative efforts to maintain the quality of life, especially in dealing with the decline in cognitive function that accompanies the aging process. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the exercise Laras Jiwa model based on traditional Central Javanese music in improving the cognitive function of the elderly. The research method used Research and Development (R&D) through ten stages of development. The study subjects were elderly aged 60–70 years from three clinics in Semarang City. The research instruments included validation sheets from health experts, gymnastics experts, art or music experts, observation sheets, and the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). The results of the Shapiro Wilk normality test showed that the pre-test and post-test cognitive function data were normally distributed (p > 0.05), so the analysis was continued using parametric statistics. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant difference between the MMSE scores before and after the implementation of the Exercise Laras Jiwa program for 12 weeks (p < 0.05). These findings confirm the effectiveness of  Exercise Laras Jiwa as a local culture-based physical activity model in improving the cognitive function of the elderly.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the use of teaching materials that are still dominated by conventional printed modules that are less interactive, less varied, and not yet integrated into a single digital platform that combines material, technical visualization, exercises, and evaluation. This study aims to produce interactive E-Modules that are suitable and effective for badminton material for seventh grade junior high school students. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall model consisting of 10 steps. Data were collected through observation and questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results of validation by media experts, subject matter experts, and learning experts obtained an average of 92% (excellent category). The small-scale trial obtained 83% (very good), and the large-scale trial obtained 90% (very good). The effectiveness test showed a percentage of 87%, so the E-Module is categorized as effective. Thus, the interactive E-Module developed is feasible and effective for use in supporting learning in junior high schools.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine how push-up and pull-up exercises contribute to the strength of 2-point shooting throws among players of the Bintang Muda Basketball Club in Kendal District. Weak arm muscle strength, which affects the accuracy and power of 2-point shots, is the main issue addressed in this research. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pretest-posttest experimental design and no control group. A sample of 20 individuals was used in this study. Data was collected through observation and measurement of 2-point shooting ability, and then analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results showed that push-up and pull-up exercises had a significant impact and contributed meaningfully to the strength of the arm muscles and accuracy of 2-point shots for the players. A strong and significant relationship was found between the type of exercise and 2-point shooting strength, indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.542 and a significance value of 0.014 (< 0.05). Therefore, push-up and pull-up exercises have a significant contribution to 2-point shooting strength in basketball and can be considered part of a physical training program to improve 2-point shooting techniques in basketball games.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and describe the physical condition level of pencak silat athletes from the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) Sleman Branch in 2025. Specifically, this study measures the dominant physical components in pencak silat, namely: muscle strength, endurance, speed, agility, flexibility, and explosive power. This study is a quantitative descriptive research using a survey method with tests and measurements. The sample consists of all active athletes training at the PSHT Sleman Branch training center, selected using a total sampling technique. The instruments used include (1) the Push-up Test for strength; (2) the Beep Test for endurance; (3) the 30-meter Sprint for speed; (4) the Side Step Test for agility; (5) the Sit and Reach Test for flexibility; and (6) the Standing Jump Board for explosive power. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive percentage statistics to be classified into categories (Very Good, Good, Average, Poor, Very Poor). The results indicate that the physical condition of the PSHT Sleman Branch pencak silat athletes is at a moderate or “average” level, with a total average score of 20 points for both male and female athletes. In detail, female athletes performed best in speed, agility, and flexibility; had average performance in strength and explosive power; and were lacking in endurance. Meanwhile, male athletes excelled in speed, strength, and power; had average performance in agility and flexibility; and were also lacking in endurance. In conclusion, several training programs are recommended to improve the less-than-optimal components. These include High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Fartlek running, and circuit training to enhance endurance; plyometrics and weightlifting for strength and power; and agility ladder drills and dynamic stretching programs to improve the athletes’ flexibility and agility.

Abstract

Tarung Derajat is an original Indonesian martial arts sport that has developed nationally but has not yet received formal recognition at the international level. This research aims to formulate a comprehensive development strategy to make Tarung Derajat a globally recognised martial art. The research uses a quantitative approach, with a survey administered to Tarung Derajat athletes, coaches, and officials. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, covering internal coaching, digital promotion, sports diplomacy, and cultural values. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The research results indicate that internal coaching, digital promotion, sports diplomacy, and cultural values significantly influence the development of Tarung Derajat towards global recognition, both partially and simultaneously. Internal coaching is the most dominant factor. This finding confirms that developing Tarung Derajat to an international level requires an integrated strategy that combines organisational strengthening, the use of digital media, international cooperation, and the preservation of cultural values. This research is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and sports organisations in promoting the internationalisation of Tarung Derajat.
