Abstract

This research was conducted to address the low level of physical fitness, particularly VO₂Max, among junior high school female students, which impacts their overall health and physical performance. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of poco-poco and SKJ 2021 aerobic exercise programs, along with the influence of exercise motivation, on the improvement of VO₂Max in female students at SMP Negeri 6 Bengkulu. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a 2x2 factorial design. A total of 24 female students were selected through total sampling and divided into four treatment groups. The exercise was conducted over 12 sessions, and VO₂Max was measured using the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT). The results revealed that the group performing SKJ 2021 with high motivation (A2B1) achieved the highest average posttest VO₂Max score of 41.2 ml/kg/min, while the poco-poco group with low motivation (A1B2) had the lowest average score of 35.6 ml/kg/min. Two-way ANOVA analysis showed a significant effect of both exercise type and motivation level on VO₂Max (p < 0.05). The interaction between exercise and motivation was also statistically significant. These findings conclude that the combination of structured aerobic exercise and high motivation significantly enhances cardiovascular endurance in female junior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the gymnastics coaching program in Pekanbaru City using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Informants selected via purposive sampling included KONI officials, coaches, and athletes. Data were analyzed using triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that while the program aligns with local sports policies and continues to operate, several critical challenges hinder its sustainability. In the context dimension, the program lacks long-term strategic planning and regular competition opportunities. From the input perspective, issues include outdated training facilities, insufficient funding, and weak coach regeneration. The process evaluation indicates the absence of systematic performance monitoring and limited coordination among key institutions. Lastly, the product dimension shows that although some athletes have achieved success, the lack of structured regeneration systems jeopardizes long-term outcomes. These results suggest the need for strategic improvements, including increased funding, upgraded infrastructure, structured talent development, and enhanced institutional collaboration. The study contributes a comprehensive, model-based evaluation framework that can inform future efforts in regional sports program development across Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the comparative effects of traditional games and digital media on the development of character values and social skills in elementary school physical education. Motivated by concerns regarding reduced social interaction due to the growing dominance of digital media, the study employed a mixed-methods design involving 69 fifth- and sixth-grade students in Padang, Indonesia. Students participated in interventions using traditional games (Gobak Sodor) and educational digital media (exergames). Data were collected through validated questionnaires and behavioral observation sheets, with quantitative analysis conducted using PLS-SEM and qualitative data analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that traditional games significantly improved students’ social skills, while digital media had a significant positive effect on character values. However, traditional games did not significantly influence character values, and digital media did not significantly affect social skills. These results show that each approach has selective strengths, suggesting that an integrated strategy combining cultural and technological elements may offer a more holistic physical education experience.

Abstract

Motor development in early childhood (ages 4–6 years) is fundamental to children’s physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional growth. However, structured and developmentally appropriate movement programs in Early Childhood Education remain limited. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a rhythmic gymnastics model tailored to young learners using the ADDIE model. A research and development approach was employed, including needs analysis, model design based on music and fundamental movements, prototype development, expert validation, and field testing. Nine experts assessed the model using a 4-point Likert scale covering content, movement design, musical suitability, and practicality. Field trials involved 33 children across three early childhood institutions, supported by observations and teacher feedback. The results showed high validity, with Aiken’s V values of 0.8074 (complexity), 0.7778 (suitability), and 0.6568 (motivation). Implementation findings indicated active child engagement and positive teacher responses regarding ease of use and contextual relevance. Overall, the model is valid, practical, and effective in supporting holistic motor development, offering a feasible approach to enriching movement-based learning in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study examined the effects of paired and independent overhead passing training methods in relation to leg muscle strength on the overhead passing ability of school-level volleyball athletes. A quantitative experimental design with a 2×2 factorial pretest–posttest approach was employed. Twenty-four students participating in a volleyball extracurricular program were classified into high and low leg muscle strength groups and assigned to paired or independent training. Overhead passing ability was measured before and after the intervention using a standardized skill test. Data were analyzed using paired samples t-tests to identify within-group changes. The results showed a significant improvement only in athletes with high leg muscle strength who received paired training (p < 0.05), while other groups showed no significant changes. These findings suggest that overhead passing improvement depends on the interaction between training method and physical readiness. Further studies with larger samples and factorial analyses are recommended.
