Abstract

Good road quality is essential to ensure comfort, safety, and efficiency in transportation, yet roads are prone to damage from extreme weather, heavy traffic loads, and environmental factors. The Simpang Jembatan Lamnyong - Makam T. Nyak Arief - Cot Iri road experiences high traffic volume, resulting in damage at several points and reducing its overall performance. To address this issue, proper identification of road damage is necessary to determine suitable repair methods. This study aims to determine the difference in the level of damage using two different methods. Field data were collected through direct surveys, recording types and dimensions of damage across a 4.4 km stretch from STA 0+000 to STA 4+400, segmented every 100 meters. The results showed that SDI values ranged from 0 to 125, with an average of 64 categorized as “moderate,” while PCI values ranged from 0 to 100, with an average of 27 categorized as “poor.” Based on this comparison, the PCI method is considered more accurate, as it evaluates a wider range of damage types in greater detail. Therefore, the PCI method is recommended as the preferred approach for assessing road damage and guiding maintenance decisions on similar road sections.

Abstract

Driving is a crucial daily activity that requires high concentration to ensure safety on road. One of the factors contributing to traffic accidents is the phenomenon of microsleep, a brief involuntary sleep episode that can disrupt a driver’s alertness. In Indonesia, particularly in Province of Aceh, traffic accident rates remain relatively high. The Banda Aceh-Medan Road segment is one of the areas with the highest traffic accident rate in Aceh Province. This highlights the importance of the research. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the occurrence of microsleep among drivers in Aceh Province, specifically focusing on the ease of falling asleep that was measured using the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS). Whilst, the boredom was measured using the Boredom Proneness Scale (BPS). Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 310 drivers who had travelled the Banda Aceh - Medan route, both on expressways and national road. The Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method was used to examine the relationships between the exogenous latent variables (boredom level and sleepiness) and the endogenous latent variable (frequency of microsleep). The model indicates there were relationship between three main latent variables. Boredom Proneness (BP) has a significant positive effect on the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) with an estimate coefficient of 0.329 (p < 0.001). BP also positively affected Microsleep (MS) with an estimate of 0.242, and the ESS positively influenced the MS with a coefficient of 0.191, respectively. The overall model demonstrated acceptable statistical quality with RMSEA = 0.079, GFI = 0.850, AGFI = 0.813, and CFI = 0.842, indicating a marginal to good fit. However, this study is limited by its cross-sectional and self-reported design, suggesting future research should apply experimental or physiological approaches to better capture driver fatigue dynamics.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Simpang Bersinyal; Ekivalen Mobil Penumpang (EMP); Aliran Jenuh; Regresi Linier; Lalu Lintas CampuranAbstractSignalized intersections play a vital role in urban traffic management, especially in areas with mixed traffic characteristics such as Banda Aceh. This study aims to determine the Passenger Car Equivalent (PCE) values based on actual saturation flow data at the AMD Batoh signalized intersection. Data were collected through video recordings over 120 green time cycles across four intersection approaches, with vehicle classifications including Motorcycles (MC), Light Vehicles (LV), Motorized Rickshaws (MR), and Heavy Vehicles (HV). Linear regression analysis produced positive coefficients, indicating that each additional vehicle unit increases the effective green time by 0.14 seconds for MC, 1.12 seconds for LV, 0.73 seconds for MR, and 1.58 seconds for HV. The regression model also yielded an Adjusted R² of 0.94, demonstrating a strong model fit. The resulting local PCE values differ from the standard references in PKJI 2023, particularly for informal vehicles. These findings highlight the importance of localized adjustment in intersection capacity analysis to support more accurate and context-sensitive traffic planning. Keywords: Signalized Intersection; Passenger Car Equivalent (PCE); Saturation Flow; Linear Regression; Mixed Traffic

Abstract

Sinabang Ferry Port serves as a vital transportation hub connecting Simeulue Island with the mainland Sumatra, especially in serving remote and underdeveloped areas. As passenger traffic increases, evaluating service quality becomes crucial to support port management improvements and increase user satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the level of service at Sinabang Ferry Port based on user satisfaction and identify service attributes that need to be prioritized for quality improvement. The data were analyzed using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method with five dimensions of service quality, namely tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The number of respondents was set at 156 people using the Slovin formula based on the average weekly number of passengers. The results showed that the level of user satisfaction with Sinabang Ferry Port services obtained an average level of suitability (LoS) score of 85,13%, indicating that user may dissatisfaction with port services and the need for improvements. The attributes that need to be prioritized (Quadrant I) include facilities for people with disabilities, pregnant women, and the elderly, information about terminal layout, departures and arrivals, and the availability of security equipment, such as CCTV. Furthermore, the tangibles, reliability, and assurance dimensions require significant attention to enhance service quality. These results provide essential insights for port authorities in formulating targeted and sustainable strategies to strengthen ferry service management and support regional accessibility.

Abstract

The Punge Intersection is one of the four-armed unsignalized intersections in Banda Aceh City without traffic regulations such as traffic lights, roundabouts, or other warning signs. This condition is very troublesome for road users, especially during peak hours. It is considered necessary to evaluate the performance of the intersection along with alternative treatments that produce the best performance to meet the standards. Most of the previous studies relied heavily on tailor-made simulation tools to evaluate control algorithms, but the use of simulation platforms to make system comparisons through modeling is still very rare, especially in Indonesia. Analysis and modeling at the Punge Intersection using the MKJI method and PTV VISSIM 10.00-02 (VISSIM) software. Traffic volume data (plan), road geometric, and environmental conditions are needed in data processing operations using VISSIM. Three modeling scenarios were carried out with the implementation of a one-way road for arm A in the entry direction, installation of a traffic signaling tool, called APILL, roundabout planning and widening of each arm. A roundabout planning simulation with type R10-22 with widening on each road section can make the Punge Intersection with the best LOS and meet the best service levels.
