Abstract

Background: Pressure in the school environment, academic demands, and high social expectations often increase the vulnerability of children and adolescents to psychosocial problems. Bad interactions, such as bullying or social isolation, can contribute to their mental state and hinder their social engagement. Research Objectives: The aim is to determine the difference in the influence of a deliberately structured psychosocial learning model and a deliberately structured progressive learning model through traditional games on psychosocial development. Methods: This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-only control group design with a model of more than one experimental group and sample selection using a purposive sampling technique. The sample of this study was 60 fifth-grade students from a public elementary school. The instrument in this research was a questionnaire developed by students at the Wesleyan University Graduate School, namely the Class 7 Students' Psychosocial Adjustment Needs Questionnaire, with data analysis techniques using the t-test. Findings/Results: Psychosocial learning models that are deliberately structured progressively through traditional games can influence psychosocial development, as well as psychosocial learning models that are deliberately structured can influence psychosocial development. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the deliberately structured psychosocial learning model and the progressive version in terms of elementary students’ psychosocial development. The progressive model gives continuous stimulation and better support for psychosocial formation because it builds on what has already been learnt. Teachers are encouraged to use more collaborative, contextual approaches to enhance students' social-emotional engagement. Future research should explore different regions or cultures and incorporate mixed methods for a deeper understanding of student experiences

Abstract

The role of a physical education teacher is a long-term career, and efforts to improve the competence of physical education teachers must be the concern of several parties, such as universities, training institutions, and even the Ministry of Education. This concerns the indicators that should be included in the various training programs for prospective physical education teachers. Currently, there is no standardization of the quality of a physical education teacher who is qualified to teach at different levels of education. Several studies have discussed professional development for physical education teachers. However, there has not been much research on pre-service programs for physical education teachers. The purpose of this study is to determine the trend of research on pre-service physical education teacher education (PETE) in different countries from 2014 to 2023. Visualization was done using VOSviewer. The research was conducted with a bibliometric study. The results of bibliometric analysis showed that the most research related to this topic was conducted in the United States with 79 research publications and 1172 citations. The findings provide insight for researchers to identify the components that need to be provided in the pre-service program for prospective physical education teachers in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to determine the development of leadership abilities through a volleyball practice program that is integrated with leadership for positive youth development. The method used is Quasi Experiment Design with The Matching-Only Pre-test-Post-test Control Group Design. The research population consists of school volleyball clubs in Garut Regency which are divided into three groups: 1) a group that takes part in volleyball training with integrated leadership; 2) a group that takes part in volleyball training without leadership integration; and 3) a group that does not participate in volleyball training and is not integrated with leadership. The research samples are teenagers aged 12-25. The instrument used is the Inventory Leadership Identity (ILI). The average pretest score of group A is 43.93, and the average posttest score is 88.48. For group B, the average pretest score was 38.40, with the same average posttest score of 41.48. As for group C, the average pretest score was 25.54, and the average posttest score was 26.08. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it proves that the group that took part in volleyball training with leadership integration shows a better leadership development for the structured and intentional leadership program.

Abstract

Background: Motivation and skill development are vital in physical education, particularly football. Tactical learning emphasizes decision-making and game understanding, while technical learning focuses on mastering fundamental skills. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the impact of a TPACK-based tactical and technical learning approach on student motivation and football skill acquisition among high school students in Tasikmalaya. Methods: The study applied the TPACK framework—integrating Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge—in designing the learning model. Using an experimental method with a pre-test–post-test design, 30 students were divided into two groups. Motivation was assessed via a Likert-scale questionnaire, while football skills (passing, heading, dribbling, shooting, and playing ability) were evaluated through standardized tests. Data were analyzed using paired and independent t-tests with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The technical approach significantly enhanced basic football skills, notably heading (t = 8.47) and shooting (t = 8.29), proving its effectiveness in improving fundamental competencies. Conversely, the tactical approach showed a notable increase in student motivation (t = 4.98) and playing ability (t = 5.94), reflecting its strength in fostering strategic understanding and engagement. TPACK integration further reinforced both approaches through effective use of technology. Conclusions: The study highlights the importance of combining tactical and technical approaches to promote holistic student development. Continued research is needed to explore the long-term effects and potential of integrating diverse technological tools in physical education.

Abstract

Physical fitness is an important component in maintaining health and quality of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sleep quality, physical activity patterns, muscle mass, fat mass, and body mass index (BMI) in fitness center members. Using a quantitative correlational approach, this study involved 54 participants selected through purposive sampling technique. The instruments used included the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), 24h Movement Questionnaire (QMov24h), and body composition measurements using the Karada Scan. The results showed that good sleep quality and involvement in structured physical activity were associated with a more ideal body composition, characterized by higher muscle mass, balanced fat mass, and BMI in the normal category. In contrast, moderate and vigorous physical activity did not show a significant relationship to body composition. These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive lifestyle management that includes sleep quality, daily activity, and body composition monitoring to achieve optimal fitness.

Abstract

Population aging in Indonesia demands scalable programs that elevate everyday functioning and well-being. This study evaluated an integrated nutrition and physical activity program grounded in Social Cognitive Theory for community-dwelling older adults. Using a quasi-experimental, community-based design, the intervention combined nutrition education with cooking practice, progressive exercise, self-efficacy-oriented counselling, and peer support, and was assessed with validated measures of quality of life, nutritional status, and physical activity. Participants receiving the program achieved marked improvements across all outcomes relative to comparison participants, and gains persisted beyond the intervention period. These benefits arose because the program simultaneously strengthened capability through skills and knowledge, opportunity through social support and access, and motivation through enhanced self-efficacy, goal setting, and self-monitoring. Hands-on practice and vicarious learning built mastery, while culturally adapted materials and peer leaders reduced barriers and reinforced adherence. Findings indicate that a theory-driven, multi-component approach is feasible within primary care and can advance healthy aging and equity in Indonesian communities.

Abstract

Sports sociology, particularly in the context of inclusive sports, has become an important field in understanding social dynamics in an increasingly diverse modern society. Inclusive sports aim to accommodate various groups with different characteristics, such as people with disabilities, gender minorities, and specific age groups. This article uses bibliometric analysis to explore the development of research on sports sociology in inclusive sports. Through literature mapping obtained from the Scopus database, this research shows a significant increase in publications related to inclusive sports between 2013 and 2023, analyzing data from 794 articles published in various scientific journals. The analysis results reveal the dominance of topics related to "disability," "paralympic," and "inclusion" in the literature, highlighting efforts to enhance equal access and opportunities for people with disabilities in sports. This research also identifies leading authors and countries that have made significant contributions to the development of theory and practice in inclusive sports, as well as demonstrating the importance of international collaboration in expanding understanding of this issue. However, there are limitations in this research as it only uses data from Scopus, which may overlook literature from other sources, including research in developing countries. This research provides an overview of important trends and developments in inclusive sports sociology and opens opportunities for further research that is more inclusive.
