Abstract

This study aims to determine the perspectives of special schools regarding the implementation of adaptive physical education in Cirebon City. The research method employed in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques involve the use of the Triangulation method. Data analysis in this study utilizes the Miles and Huberman field models. The sampling technique utilizes random sampling. Based on the research findings and the discussions presented, it can be concluded that the initial implementation of adaptive physical education for children with special needs can be considered successful because it has achieved the objectives of adaptive physical education. Furthermore, the treatment provided by physical education teachers to children with special needs is consistent with that provided to regular students, with special modifications to enable children with special needs to participate in the same learning materials as their peers. However, the third observation indicates that not all lessons align with the previously created lesson plans (RPP). Teachers have more flexibility to adapt to the circumstances and conditions of both regular students and children with special needs. The four strategies for adaptive education include learning modification techniques, environmental modification techniques, and learning activity modification techniques.

Abstract

Questionnaires and accelerometers are the most commonly used instruments by researchers to analyze physical activity. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between physical activity measurements using two methods: the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the Actigraph GT3X+ device. The study sample consisted of 27 male and 23 female students from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. The instruments utilized in the research were the Actigraph GT3X+ accelerometer and the IPAQ. Data analysis was conducted by correlating the data obtained from the IPAQ and the Actigraph GT3X+. The results indicated that there was no correlation between IPAQ and Actigraph GT3X+ across various physical activity intensities. Further analysis is required, considering an increased sample size and minimizing self-reporting biases through a more structured approach to achieve more accurate results.

Abstract

Obesity remains a global health issue with significant physical, social, and psychological impacts. One increasingly popular approach to managing obesity is the Intermittent Fasting (IF) diet. This study aims to examine the motivation and effectiveness of IF among fitness center members who also engage in regular exercise. Using the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) framework, this research explores internal and external factors influencing participants' commitment to IF.This qualitative descriptive study employed semi-structured interviews conducted at Idachi Fitness Metro Indah Mall. Thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke’s six-phase process was used to identify key themes. The findings revealed five categories of motivation: intrinsic regulation, identified regulation, introjected regulation, external regulation, and amotivation. Participants highlighted the benefits of IF, such as weight management, increased energy, and improved sleep quality. These findings underscore the importance of combining IF with exercise for achieving optimal health outcomes. Additionally, external motivations, such as social support and encouragement from trainers, often developed into intrinsic motivations as participants experienced health improvements. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term effects of combining IF and exercise on health and motivation.

Abstract

Background: Pressure in the school environment, academic demands, and high social expectations often increase the vulnerability of children and adolescents to psychosocial problems. Bad interactions, such as bullying or social isolation, can contribute to their mental state and hinder their social engagement. Research Objectives: The aim is to determine the difference in the influence of a deliberately structured psychosocial learning model and a deliberately structured progressive learning model through traditional games on psychosocial development. Methods: This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-only control group design with a model of more than one experimental group and sample selection using a purposive sampling technique. The sample of this study was 60 fifth-grade students from a public elementary school. The instrument in this research was a questionnaire developed by students at the Wesleyan University Graduate School, namely the Class 7 Students' Psychosocial Adjustment Needs Questionnaire, with data analysis techniques using the t-test. Findings/Results: Psychosocial learning models that are deliberately structured progressively through traditional games can influence psychosocial development, as well as psychosocial learning models that are deliberately structured can influence psychosocial development. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the deliberately structured psychosocial learning model and the progressive version in terms of elementary students’ psychosocial development. The progressive model gives continuous stimulation and better support for psychosocial formation because it builds on what has already been learnt. Teachers are encouraged to use more collaborative, contextual approaches to enhance students' social-emotional engagement. Future research should explore different regions or cultures and incorporate mixed methods for a deeper understanding of student experiences

Abstract

The role of a physical education teacher is a long-term career, and efforts to improve the competence of physical education teachers must be the concern of several parties, such as universities, training institutions, and even the Ministry of Education. This concerns the indicators that should be included in the various training programs for prospective physical education teachers. Currently, there is no standardization of the quality of a physical education teacher who is qualified to teach at different levels of education. Several studies have discussed professional development for physical education teachers. However, there has not been much research on pre-service programs for physical education teachers. The purpose of this study is to determine the trend of research on pre-service physical education teacher education (PETE) in different countries from 2014 to 2023. Visualization was done using VOSviewer. The research was conducted with a bibliometric study. The results of bibliometric analysis showed that the most research related to this topic was conducted in the United States with 79 research publications and 1172 citations. The findings provide insight for researchers to identify the components that need to be provided in the pre-service program for prospective physical education teachers in Indonesia.
