Abstract

The "health promoting universities" strategy has gained popularity and a presence in the higher education system, particularly in universities. It is imperative for higher education establishments to prioritize the promotion of health within their student body and academic community. By safeguarding and boosting students' wellbeing, a strategy centered on encouraging healthy lifestyles has the potential to boost the university's contribution to health improvement and offer significant value to the community. Universities have the power to improve health promotion through community service and to make policies in this area through research and teaching. In order to investigate student behavior in relation to the standard aspects of the healthpromoting lifestyle profile, this project will undertake an intervention study involving 150 students with the goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle. A pretest and post-test control group design was employed in this investigation. The health-promoting lifestyle standard profile II questionnaire was the research instrument, and descriptive statistics and inference were employed for analysis at the .05 significant level. The outcomes demonstrated a noteworthy impact on the implemented measures. This study's findings indicated that interventions in learning environments successfully raised student behavior linked to a healthy lifestyle and its components.

The method used is a quantitative research method with a comparative causal approach. The population of this study is generation Z who live in Kota Bandung. The sample in this study was 134 people with the sampling technique using Convenience Sampling. The physical activity instrument in data collection uses the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Data was analyzed using Mann Whitney U test. The description of the physical activity of the zillenial generation based on the GPAQ domain shows that in the domain of activity at work/study, travel to and from places and sedentary behavior there are no differences based on gender. Which shows that Generation Z does a lot of moderate physical activity. While in the domain of recreational activities there are differences based on gender. The results of the data analysis show the value of sig. p=0.453 > 0.05, data is significant. The results of this study concluded that there was no difference in the physical activity of zillenial generation based on gender.

Abstract

Athletes in competitive sports face high psychological demands, so factors such as social support and optimism are important in maintaining mental function and performance. This study seeks to investigate the association between social support and optimism in athletes, both overall and by sport type, specifically team athletes and individual athletes. The study employs a correlational quantitative technique and includes 47 athletes from Bandung City who competed in the 2025 PORPROV Qualification Round. The Athletes' Received Support Questionnaire (ARSQ) was used to measure social support, while the Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R) was used to assess optimism. Data were gathered online and examined with descriptive statistics, reliability tests, normality tests, and Pearson's correlation. The findings revealed that social support was not significantly connected to optimism among athletes as a whole. Separate analyses revealed no significant association between social support and optimism in either team or individual athletes, however team athletes demonstrated a stronger relationship. These data suggest that athletes' optimism is affected by internal variables rather than social support from their training environment. This study underlines the need for more targeted psychological therapies, such as mental training and self-efficacy reinforcement, to boost athletes' optimism.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to determine the development of leadership abilities through a volleyball practice program that is integrated with leadership for positive youth development. The method used is Quasi Experiment Design with The Matching-Only Pre-test-Post-test Control Group Design. The research population consists of school volleyball clubs in Garut Regency which are divided into three groups: 1) a group that takes part in volleyball training with integrated leadership; 2) a group that takes part in volleyball training without leadership integration; and 3) a group that does not participate in volleyball training and is not integrated with leadership. The research samples are teenagers aged 12-25. The instrument used is the Inventory Leadership Identity (ILI). The average pretest score of group A is 43.93, and the average posttest score is 88.48. For group B, the average pretest score was 38.40, with the same average posttest score of 41.48. As for group C, the average pretest score was 25.54, and the average posttest score was 26.08. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it proves that the group that took part in volleyball training with leadership integration shows a better leadership development for the structured and intentional leadership program.

Abstract

Physical activity is a key determinant of physical fitness and plays an essential role in supporting health and functional capacity among adolescents. This study aimed to examine the relationship between physical activity levels and physical fitness among students of Junior High School 2 Ciwidey. A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 90 eighth-grade students selected using cluster sampling. Physical activity levels were measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF), while physical fitness was assessed through the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) to estimate maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂max). Descriptive analysis was used to describe physical activity and fitness profiles, while the Spearman rank correlation test was applied due to non-normal data distribution. The results showed that most students were categorized as having moderate physical activity levels (52%), followed by low (33%) and high (11%) activity levels. Physical fitness assessment revealed that male students generally demonstrated higher VO₂max levels compared to female students, who were predominantly classified in the very low and low categories. Correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between physical activity and physical fitness (r = 0.217; p = 0.040), although the strength of the relationship was weak. These findings suggest that higher physical activity levels are associated with better cardiorespiratory fitness among junior high school students. Therefore, efforts to increase the frequency and intensity of physical activity through school-based programs and supportive environments are necessary to improve students’ physical fitness and overall health.

Abstract

The problem with this research is that it is not yet clear how sports participation affects adolescent body composition, especially in terms of body mass index, body fat percentage, and muscle mass. This study aims to analyze the impact of sports participation on adolescent body composition. The study design used a causal-comparative approach with an ex post facto approach. Respondents were 85 students aged 18–21 years at the Indonesian University of Education, divided into two groups: those who participated in sports activities three times per week and those who only participated once per week for one semester. Body composition measurements were conducted using the Savvy Body Composition Analyzer based on BIA technology to obtain body mass index (BMI) and visceral fat index values. The results of the independent samples t-test showed a significant difference in BMI between the two groups (p = 0.002), where the group with a higher exercise frequency had a healthier BMI value. These findings support the importance of regular and structured sports activities to improve better body composition in adolescents, as well as prevent health risks related to obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Abstract

Physical Activity has an important role in maintaining the health and quality of life of the community. One form of physical activity participation that is developing in urban areas is through sports communities. This study aims to analyze the motives for physical activity in members of the sports community in the city of Bandung. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional observational design. The research sample was from 90 respondents who were active members of the running, swimming, and calisthenics communities in the city of Bandung. The instrument used is the Indonesian version of the Motives for Physical Activity Measure-revised (MPAM-R) questionnaire which has been tested for reliability. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and the One-Way ANOVA test. The results of the study show that the motive for physical activity of members of the sports community is in the good category in all dimensions of MPAM-R. The ANOVA test showed that there was no significant difference in the motive for physical activity between sports communities (p >0.05). These findings indicate that the type of exercise is the main factor in shaping the motivation to engage in physical activity, but the community environment, exercise experience, and individual awareness of the benefits of physical activity have a more dominant role. Thus, the sports community can be an effective means in encouraging participation and sustainable physical activity of the community.
