Abstract

This qualitative-descriptive study aimed to analyze the relationship among risk reduction , natural resource management and poverty as part of Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) indicators. This research is part of a mandate research from government (Penelitian Unggulan Sesuai Mandat Pusat) which raised the case of illegal gold mining (PETI: Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin) in Merangin Regency, primary and secondary data were being analyzed using content analysis and DPSIR. Results showed that illegal mining along the river moves from upstream to downstream and cause an increase in catastrophic events. Absence of law enforcement and disaster risk reduction contributed to environmental damage and increase the intensity of floods and flash floods. Disaster managers have not even performed disaster risk analysis therefore it is still far to get to its integration with the achievement of SDGs. Keywords: Disaster, integration, risk reduction, SDGs, Merangin

Abstract

Abstract

Anak Dalam Tribe (ADT) is an indigenous community living inside the conservation area, protected as cultural heritage. ADT family is highly dependent on the forest, they used to live and fulfill all their needs from the forest. Now with the modernization and regulatory dynamics taking place, ADT family undergoes changes as a form of adaptation, leading to residing categorization i.e. traditional, transition, and bediom. The changes impact on the ecological transactions thus bring a greater potential risk of forest fires, as has happened in recent years. This study aims to discover ADT family ecological transactions based on their residing type so that potential environmental exposure can be predicted and anticipated for disaster risk reduction. The qualitative research was conducted using a cross-sectional method. Data were collected through in-depth interview, observation, and forum group discussion. Mapping was done to understand the transaction pattern. This study found that the pattern of each kampong was different, showing that development has happened following the socio-ecological changes of each kampong, either by nature or intervention from outside parties. However, the livelihood area is still the biggest and outermost area of all six kampongs despite the residing type, covering the forest area. Moreover, the area of exposure is enlarged. It vindicates the escalating disaster risk. It is suggested to create a holistic livelihood ecosystem for ADT near their residing place to minimize the disaster risk. Political identity of ADT also should be reconsidered, with the inevitable global development, how far the heritage should be kept.

Abstract

Difficult economic conditions often force families to borrow money from bank keliling/bank emok. This study analyzes the effect of family characteristics, debt characteristics, economic pressure before debt, and debt decision-making on economic pressure after debt. In particular, this study distinguishes economic pressures before and after debt. The research design used is a retrospective and cross-sectional study involving 60 wives of customers of bank keliling/bank emok selected by simple random sampling. This research is located in Pulosari Village and Margamekar Village, Pangalengan District, Bandung Regency, West Java. The correlation test results show a significant positive relationship between objective economic pressure before debt and debt decision-making. Debt decision-making is positively related to objective and subjective economic pressure after debt. The economic pressure after the debt is higher than before the debt. This study concludes that the higher objective economic pressure before debt and the greater reason for debt, the higher economic pressure after debt. The study results show the importance of families raising awareness about the risks of debt so that there is no increase in economic pressure.

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic impacted economic activity, including a decrease in the number of online motorcycle taxi passengers due to large-scale social restrictions. This study aimed to analyze the effect of determinant factors: work source of stress, self-efficacy, coping strategies, and symptoms of stress on the family welfare among online motorcycle taxi drivers. This study also analyzed the differences of all research variables according to years of service (less or more than two years). A cross-sectional design involving 120 online drivers in Bogor who were selected by convenience sampling was applied in this study. All research instruments used in data collection have good reliability. Data was collected by filling out a structured questionnaire shared with a google form, considering the pandemic conditions. Data was analyzed inferentially using SPSS and Smart PLS. Different test results showed that drivers who worked less than two years had lower earnings before and during the pandemic but performed higher coping strategies than those who worked more than two years. Self-efficacy positively affects online motorcycle taxi drivers' family welfare during the pandemic, objectively and subjectively. While work source of stress negatively affects subjective family welfare only.

Abstract

The utilization of money is not optimal, making the family's financial condition inefficient, which is why the family decides to get into debt at the Bank Emok. This study aims to analyze the influence of the family's debt behavior, lifestyle, economic pressure, and financial conditions (literacy and management) on the subjective economic well-being of Bank Emok customers in Bogor City. The research used a cross-sectional study design involving 150 families of Bank Emok customers selected by simple random sampling. The research instrument has adequate reliability and validity. The results of the analysis show that there are Bank Emok customers who are not categorized as poor. Many client families do not fulfill 12 years of primary education. Loans range from 2-16 million, with an average weekly installment of 138 thousand. As many as 26,7 percent of families fall into the category of high economic pressure, which is characterized by the difficulty of families in fulfilling food, education, and life skills. The results of the regression test show that the subjective economic welfare of families is positively influenced by lifestyle, financial literacy, financial management, number of dependents, length of wife's education, and length of loan. The analyzed model contributed 27,2 percent to the subjective economic well-being of families. Families are advised to start making financial plans and implement saving habits to be used in emergencies to improve the subjective economic well-being of the family.

Abstract

Facing rising prices requires effective financial management to improve family welfare. Low income and having difficulty making ends meet can often cause people to go into debt. It is essential to achieve a good balance between income and debt by understanding the limits of one's ability to pay and utilizing debt wisely for productive purposes. The purpose of the study was to gain an understanding of family characteristics and debt characteristics that become Bank Emok customers and analyze the relationship and influence of family characteristics, debt characteristics, financial management and subjective welfare. This study used a purposive cross-sectional study design with respondents of as many as 60 wives from complete families who became customers of Bank Emok. The results of the relationship test (correlation) showed that the age of the wife was significantly negatively associated with financial management. The length of marriage was significantly positively related to the amount of debt. Income is completely considerably associated with financial management and subjective well-being. The results of the influence test with Structural Equation Modeling show that the application of sound financial management practices can make a positive contribution to emotional well-being (β= 0.561**; t > 1.96).

Abstract

Floods are one of the most prevalent disasters worldwide, including in the capital city of Indonesia. Multi-criteria decision analysis is combined with Geographic Information Systems to produce a mapping of flood hazard areas. The weighting for each parameter is based on six criteria: rainfall, slope gradient, topography, soil type, land cover, and distance from rivers. The flood hazard map is validated using inundation data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency for the years 2015 and 2020. From the general analysis, it can be determined that the parameter most influencing floods is rainfall with a weight of 0.270, followed by slope gradient at 0.164, topography at 0.124, soil type at 0.096, land cover at 0.190, and distance from rivers at 0.155. Therefore, through mapping using QGIS, it is revealed that in 2002, highly flood hazard areas comprised 20.99% of the total Ciliwung Watershed area, which increased to 24.31% in 2020. The validation of the flood hazard map was conducted by recording the coordinate points of flood incidents in 2015 and 2020, revealing that the affected areas within the Ciliwung Watershed occurred in high to very high vulnerability zones. This research demonstrates that flood events in the study area occurred in high to very high flood hazard zones. The results of this study are considered valuable and important for providing accurate information to local governments to develop cost-effective and efficient strategies in dealing with potential flood hazards.
