Abstract

This research aimed to analyze stress management (stressors, coping strategies, and stress symptoms) and family resilience (process and output) of garut flash flood victim families at 1 and 4 months post-disaster. This cross-sectional study involved 120 families (each 60 from the temporary shelter (FTS) and nontemporary shelter (FNTS)) who were chosen by stratified non-proportional random sampling. The results showed that FNTS faced higher stressors and did higher coping strategies than FTS, either at 1 or 4 months post-disaster. Stress symptoms were also higher among FNTS at 1-month post-disaster, while the output of family resilience was higher in FTS at 4 months post-disaster. Stressors significantly influenced stress symptoms at 1-month post-disaster, coping strategies and the process of family resilience. In contrast, stressors influenced stress symptoms at 4 months post-disaster, coping strategies and stress symptoms 1-month post-disaster. The process of family resilience influenced the output of family resilience at 1-month post-disaster. In contrast, the output of family resilience at 4 month post-disaster was influenced by residence, family income per capita, stressors and the process of family resilience. This study reinforces the importance of family resilience in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

Character education can be applied through various methods, including the internalization of values and character habituation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of adolescents and families, family values, and character habituation; analyze the influence of adolescent and family characteristics, family values, on habituation of adolescent characters. Respondents in this study were 200 people with translation; 100 junior and senior high school students in the Sukmajaya Depok area, and mothers of these teens who work. Location selection uses purposive, and respondents are selected by random sampling. The results of the analysis state that the highest family value internalized by working mothers in adolescents is the value of humility. Conversely, a low value is the value of family recognition through achievement. Another finding based on Partial Least Square analysis shows that family values that have a significant positive effect on adolescent character habituation are self-control and emotion (p=0.029, t1,96). While family values that have a significant negative effect are family recognition through achievement (p=0.000, t1,96), and humility (p=0.042, t1,96).

Abstract

Abstract

Flood disaster is the most common disaster in Indonesia, flood events continue to increase and occur almost every year during the rainy season, on average caused by extreme rainfall above 100 mm, with the number of losses increasing every years, there are many factors that affect One of the causes of flooding is human activities resulting in changes in land use in the form of settlements and agricultural land. This paper aims to present a conceptual reference from the implementation results using software assistance, to determine the level of influence and dependent variables. The method used to assess the most influential factors on flood events, especially in the Ciliwung watershed, is by using Cross-Impact Matric Multiplication Applied to Classification (MICMAC). From the 11 contributing factors analyzed based on the Matrix of Direct Influence (MDI) and Matrix of Indirect Influence (MII) it is known that rainfall and distance from the river are the variables that have the most influence. While the variables with the greatest dependence based on MDI and MII are land cover, slope, population density and river waste, with institutions experiencing a larger variable displacement compared to other variables. The results of the identification of these contributing factors can be used by stakeholders to be careful of each factor as input in anticipating influencing factors.

Abstract

This research is part of umbrella study entitled “The Impact of the 2018 Sunda Strait Tsunami on Family Socio-Economic Vulnerability and Achievement of SDGs Welfare”. This study aims to analyze family characteristics, objective economic pressures, livelihood strategies, and subjective-economic welfare for survivors of Sunda Strait Tsunami disaster in Banten. The research method used is a cross-sectional study involving 60 samples selected by simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out in March 2021 (27-month post disaster). Data analysis used descriptive tests, correlation tests, and logistic regression tests. The regression test results showed that the wife's age, husband's age, income per capita, and objective economic pressure had a significant effect on subjective economic welfare. The results of the cumulative probability analysis show that families with low welfare categories have the opportunity to increase their subjective economic welfare by 0.989 times, while families with high welfare have the opportunity to increase their subjective economic welfare 6,632 times compared to families with low welfare categories. Migration of residence from coastal areas to permanent residences in the middle of plantations does not make families change their livelihoods or explore new skills in earning a living to increase income.

Abstract

The flash flood disaster that hit Lebak Regency in 2020 caused the family to be in a state of crisis. Families need a process to survive and come back empowered. This study aims to analyze the process and output of the resilience of the victims' families using the RESILIENSI-GA instrument. The research design was a cross-sectional study and a retrospective study. The sample was selected by purposive sampling, precisely 60 victims’ families who stay in temporary housing at Lebak Regency. Collected data in March 2021, 15 month post-disaster. The data was processed using descriptive, correlation, and multiple regression tests. The results showed that the family experienced a crisis after the disaster for 3.5 months. The process of family resilience at 15 months is better than a 1-month post-disaster. The regression test results showed that in the 15 month, family organization capacity and family atmosphere, which is a part of the process of family resilience, consistently influenced the increase of family resilience output (subjective). Meanwhile, the older the husband affects, the decrease in family resilience output (subjective). The result of this study is expected to provide data and information for policy and program makers to reinforce family resilience in dealing with disasters.

Abstract

This qualitative-descriptive study aimed to analyze the relationship among risk reduction , natural resource management and poverty as part of Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) indicators. This research is part of a mandate research from government (Penelitian Unggulan Sesuai Mandat Pusat) which raised the case of illegal gold mining (PETI: Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin) in Merangin Regency, primary and secondary data were being analyzed using content analysis and DPSIR. Results showed that illegal mining along the river moves from upstream to downstream and cause an increase in catastrophic events. Absence of law enforcement and disaster risk reduction contributed to environmental damage and increase the intensity of floods and flash floods. Disaster managers have not even performed disaster risk analysis therefore it is still far to get to its integration with the achievement of SDGs. Keywords: Disaster, integration, risk reduction, SDGs, Merangin

Abstract

Anak Dalam Tribe (ADT) is an indigenous community living inside the conservation area, protected as cultural heritage. ADT family is highly dependent on the forest, they used to live and fulfill all their needs from the forest. Now with the modernization and regulatory dynamics taking place, ADT family undergoes changes as a form of adaptation, leading to residing categorization i.e. traditional, transition, and bediom. The changes impact on the ecological transactions thus bring a greater potential risk of forest fires, as has happened in recent years. This study aims to discover ADT family ecological transactions based on their residing type so that potential environmental exposure can be predicted and anticipated for disaster risk reduction. The qualitative research was conducted using a cross-sectional method. Data were collected through in-depth interview, observation, and forum group discussion. Mapping was done to understand the transaction pattern. This study found that the pattern of each kampong was different, showing that development has happened following the socio-ecological changes of each kampong, either by nature or intervention from outside parties. However, the livelihood area is still the biggest and outermost area of all six kampongs despite the residing type, covering the forest area. Moreover, the area of exposure is enlarged. It vindicates the escalating disaster risk. It is suggested to create a holistic livelihood ecosystem for ADT near their residing place to minimize the disaster risk. Political identity of ADT also should be reconsidered, with the inevitable global development, how far the heritage should be kept.
