Abstract

Globalization and socio-economic changes have led to an increase in the number of dual-earner families. Jobs that were previously dominated by men are now increasingly being done by women, making the phenomenon of women working commonplace. However, this condition often leads to work-family conflict due to the imbalance of roles at work and home. Family work conflict is an imbalance between work and family that refers to how the relationship between work and family is mutually disrupted. This study analyzes the influence of economic pressure, husband-wife interaction, and family resilience on work conflict in dual-earner families. The research used a quantitative method with an explanatory study design, involving direct interviews with 103 working wives, who were selected by purposive sampling in two places in West Bogor Sub-district, Pasir Jaya Village and Gunung Batu Village. Data were analyzed descriptively using SPSS, while the influence between variables was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings show that economic pressure significantly influences work conflict, where higher pressure increases conflict intensity. In contrast, good husband-wife interaction and high family resilience were shown to reduce work-family conflict effectively. Based on the research, dual-earner families are advised to improve time management, set priorities, and maintain regular communication to strengthen family harmony and resilience.

Abstract

Aglaonema plants have become an important element in people's lives, serving as home decorations and sources of income. Aglaonema cultivation is increasingly popular, opening up business opportunities for farmers. This plant is not just a hobby but a horticultural commodity with high economic value. This research aims to analyze the difficulties faced by Aglaonema farmers, from seedling to marketing. This research uses a constructivist paradigm and qualitative methods, involving 20 informants from among farmers, traders, buyers, extension workers, and farmer organizations. Data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions, and observations, with triangulation to validate the information. Data analysis was conducted using the NVivo application. The research results show that the main difficulties faced by Aglaonema farmers include unpredictable price fluctuations, limited varieties, weak communication among farmers, traditional seedling methods, and a lack of information about seed supply. These findings emphasize the need for information sharing between farmers and stakeholders to improve productivity and quality in agribusiness, in line with consumer demands and technological advancements, which can be implemented through a knowledge management system platform in the Aglaonema agribusiness supply chain.

Abstract

Family social strength positively correlated with family transactions and its environment. This study aimed to examine decision making and the value of family transactions with its environment towards family social strength. The study used a cross-sectional design involving 120 intact families who have children under five years old and selected by stratified disproportional random sampling according to their residence (FP village and non-FP village) in Village Muara, Pasirjaya, West Bogor. The analyses showed that family social strength had a positive correlation with wife’s education level, decision making, and value of the family transaction otherwise family strength had a negatively correlated with the number of family and children. The result of the regression tests showed that decision making and the value of the family transaction had a positive effect on family social strength, but the number of children had a negative influence on family social strength. The regression tests showed either with family or without family characteristics, decision making and transaction value had a positive effect on family social strength. Contrarily, family characteristics on the number of children, both with and without the dimensions of decision making and transaction value consistently had an adverse effect on family social strength.

Abstract

Family readiness is a way to measure a person's level of readiness to build a family and have children. This study aimed to analyze the influence of age preferences for marriage, desire to have children, and children's values on family readiness among IPB students. This study was attended by 206 respondents, aged 19-24 years, who were unmarried. Data were collected online using purposive sampling. The results showed that marriage age preference ranged from to 24-25 years, most of the samples stated their strong desire to have children, and the children’s value and family readiness were in the moderate category. The correlation test showed that marriage age preference had a significant negative relationship with family readiness, while children’s values and desire to have children had a significant positive relationship with family readiness. The PLS test results show that children's values have a significant positive effect on family readiness. The higher the value of the benefits of children owned by a person, the higher their readiness to start a family. This study suggests that it is important for young adults to build positive communication with their parents to increase positive values for children and families.

Abstract

Bank Emok is a mobile bank that uses a group mechanism that sits together (emok) every week for debt disbursement and a joint responsibility payment guarantee system. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of debt behavior, lifestyle, economic pressure, and family financial conditions (literacy, management, attitudes) on the physical economic strength of Bank Emok customers in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. This cross-sectional study involved 150 families of Bank Emok customers who were selected by simple random sampling. The research instrument had adequate reliability and validity. The results of the analysis show that there are Bank Emok customer families who are not categorized as poor (71.3% with the Bogor poverty line; 52% with the World Bank poverty line). Quite a large number of wives (63.4%) and husbands (51%) did not complete basic education (12 years). The husband's main job is laborer/employee (47.3%) and 57% of the wives work in various jobs. Debts range from 2-16 million, the average installment per week is 138 thousand. As many as 26.7 percent of families fall into the category of high economic pressure, this is indicated by the difficulty of the family in fulfilling food, education and life skills. The results of the analysis show that the physical economic strength of the family is positively influenced by financial literacy, financial management, attendance mechanisms, the husband's length of education, and family income, and is negatively affected by the husband's age. The analyzed model contributes 27.9 percent to the physical-economic strength of the family. Families need to increase their understanding of basic financial concepts and spending priorities because they play an important role in increasing the physical-economic strength of families.

Abstract

Anak Dalam Tribe (ADT) is an indigenous community living inside the conservation area, protected as cultural heritage. ADT family is highly dependent on the forest, they used to live and fulfill all their needs from the forest. Now with the modernization and regulatory dynamics taking place, ADT family undergoes changes as a form of adaptation, leading to residing categorization i.e. traditional, transition, and bediom. The changes impact on the ecological transactions thus bring a greater potential risk of forest fires, as has happened in recent years. This study aims to discover ADT family ecological transactions based on their residing type so that potential environmental exposure can be predicted and anticipated for disaster risk reduction. The qualitative research was conducted using a cross-sectional method. Data were collected through in-depth interview, observation, and forum group discussion. Mapping was done to understand the transaction pattern. This study found that the pattern of each kampong was different, showing that development has happened following the socio-ecological changes of each kampong, either by nature or intervention from outside parties. However, the livelihood area is still the biggest and outermost area of all six kampongs despite the residing type, covering the forest area. Moreover, the area of exposure is enlarged. It vindicates the escalating disaster risk. It is suggested to create a holistic livelihood ecosystem for ADT near their residing place to minimize the disaster risk. Political identity of ADT also should be reconsidered, with the inevitable global development, how far the heritage should be kept.

Abstract

This qualitative-descriptive study aimed to analyze the relationship among risk reduction , natural resource management and poverty as part of Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) indicators. This research is part of a mandate research from government (Penelitian Unggulan Sesuai Mandat Pusat) which raised the case of illegal gold mining (PETI: Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin) in Merangin Regency, primary and secondary data were being analyzed using content analysis and DPSIR. Results showed that illegal mining along the river moves from upstream to downstream and cause an increase in catastrophic events. Absence of law enforcement and disaster risk reduction contributed to environmental damage and increase the intensity of floods and flash floods. Disaster managers have not even performed disaster risk analysis therefore it is still far to get to its integration with the achievement of SDGs.Keywords: Disaster, integration, risk reduction, SDGs, Merangin

Abstract

Facing rising prices requires effective financial management to improve family welfare. Low income and having difficulty making ends meet can often cause people to go into debt. It is essential to achieve a good balance between income and debt by understanding the limits of one's ability to pay and utilizing debt wisely for productive purposes. The purpose of the study was to gain an understanding of family characteristics and debt characteristics that become Bank Emok customers and analyze the relationship and influence of family characteristics, debt characteristics, financial management and subjective welfare. This study used a purposive cross-sectional study design with respondents of as many as 60 wives from complete families who became customers of Bank Emok. The results of the relationship test (correlation) showed that the age of the wife was significantly negatively associated with financial management. The length of marriage was significantly positively related to the amount of debt. Income is completely considerably associated with financial management and subjective well-being. The results of the influence test with Structural Equation Modeling show that the application of sound financial management practices can make a positive contribution to emotional well-being (β= 0.561**; t > 1.96).
