Abstract

Mathematics is one of the essential subjects for vocational students because it is very dominant in developing science and technology. This study aims to produce vocational-based mathematics teaching materials using smartphones that meet the valid, practical, and effective prerequisites. The progressing model used in the test is ADDIE. The validity of the featured material was surveyed by three materials specialists and three media specialists using an assessment and analyzed using the Gregory arrangement. The results of the assessment obtained that the material displayed meets practical needs. The ease of use perspective was assessed by giving a poll to research researchers using the Client Experience Survey (UEQ) and a survey to students using the Framework Convenience Scale (SUS) test. The assessment results based on the Client Experience Poll (UEQ) obtained a normal value of 89.56 with a good standard. As a consequence of the Ease of Use Framework assessment, it was found that normal 89.44 was recognized and within the range of generally very good. The effectiveness of teaching materials is assessed to provide a trial of learning outcomes to students and dissected based on traditional culmination values. Traditional fulfillment awards earned 95%. The advantages of the teaching materials are photos, test questions, and conversational materials according to practice for vocational students, which students can use for independent and group study, both within and outside the organization. Given these results, it can be very well concluded that the vocational-based mathematics learning materials using smartphones have fulfilled the valid, practical, and effective components to be utilized during learning.

Abstract

Schools have used various educational approaches, such as learning models, but students’ motivation to learn mathematics is still low. This study has the following objectives: (1) to find out whether the application of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) student worksheets can increase students’ learning motivation in mathematics, and (2) to find out how students respond to the application of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) student worksheets during the learning process. The research conducted was a class action research (PTK). Students in class VIII G of SMP Negeri 8 Denpasar in the academic year 2023/2024 are the subjects of this research. The focus of the research is how students are motivated to learn and how they respond to the application of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) based student worksheets in learning mathematics. The research was conducted in two cycles, with a cycle consisting of four stages: (1) preparation; (2) action; (3) observation and assessment; and (4) reflection. The report on the results of Classroom Action Research (CAR) shows that the average value of learner motivation in cycle I is 3.35, which is included in the high criteria, while in cycle II it is 3.73, which is included in the high criteria, with an increase of 0.38 and the significance of the increase in motivation. The average learner response score was 52.8, with a standard deviation of 2.26, which showed a positive increase.

Abstract

The Great Honey Sibetan Deaf-Hearing Community is an inclusive community engaged in honey bee cultivation in Sibetan Village, Karangasem, Bali. This community faces challenges in honey productivity and harvesting technology, as well as limited access to training and mentoring. The Nyama Braya work system, as a local wisdom, has become a strength in building collaboration between deaf and hearing members. Technical and production capacity building remains an urgent need. This activity aims to increase community productivity through training, mentoring, and the application of STEM-based technology. This activity also encourages the replication of an empowerment model based on inclusion and local wisdom. The activity methods include program outreach, training on the installation of STEM-based Trigona bee boxes and harvesting tools, and ongoing mentoring and productivity evaluation. Results of the activity show an increase in the number of bee colonies from 40 to 75. Honey production increased from 30 liters to 54 liters per quarter, and all community members are able to operate modern harvesting equipment effectively. Participant reflections indicate increased self-confidence, collaboration, and social recognition from the surrounding community. This activity effectively increases productivity, independence, and community collaboration through the integration of the STEM approach and Nyama Braya values.

Abstract

The beekeeping of Trigona laeviceps honey bees has high economic and ecological potential; however, in the Raya Honey Sibetan Deaf-Hearing Community, traditional methods are still practiced, resulting in low productivity and product quality. This community service activity aimed to enhance technical skills, STEM knowledge, and honey production capacity through the application of STEM-based beekeeping box installation technology and honey harvesting tools designed to be inclusive. The target partner group consisted of 11 members. The implementation methods included (1) program socialization and needs assessment; (2) training on STEM concepts in beekeeping and the use of technology; (3) mentoring and productivity evaluation; and (4) sustainability planning through cadre development and strengthening marketing networks. The results showed an increase in the average understanding of the program’s objectives from 46.3% to 81.8%, STEM knowledge scores from 41.5% to 87.2%, and beehive box assembly skills from 18.2% to 100%. Average honey productivity reached 198.4 ml per box, with a bee population growth rate of +24.6% and a 90.9% success rate in using the technology. The integration of a STEM approach based on visual communication and hands-on practice effectively improved the technical skills, productivity, and economic independence of the Deaf-Hearing community. This service model has the potential to be replicated in other special-needs communities with technological adaptations to suit the local context.

Abstract

Teachers' ability to develop effective lesson planning is a key factor in the success of learning. This study aims to analyze teachers' competence and creativity in developing inclusive mathematics lesson plans. The research uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory method. The sampling technique employed is purposive sampling, with a total of 600 selected teacher participants. The instrument used in this study is a questionnaire. The analysis procedure is conducted in two stages: the Measurement Model and the Structural Model. The analysis results show a path coefficient of 0.474 and a p-value of 0.006 (less than 0.05) between teacher competence and the development of mathematics lesson planning, indicating that teacher competence has a significant influence on the ability to design mathematics instruction that meets the needs of students in inclusive schools. Meanwhile, the path coefficient between teacher creativity and the development of mathematics lesson planning is 0.305, with a p-value of 0.04 (less than 0.05), indicating that teacher creativity significantly affects the ability to develop mathematics lesson plans in inclusive schools. The conclusion of the study highlights that improving teachers' competence and creativity in inclusive education requires collaboration between teachers, policymakers, and educational institutions. With this competence and creativity, teachers can face the challenges of inclusive learning, ensure all students have meaningful learning experiences, and optimally develop their potential.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently gained prominence in higher education, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, offering transformative potential for learning and innovation. However, students’ adoption of AI tools is influenced by multiple psychological and contextual factors. This study aims to examine the effects of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence on students’ behavioral intentions to integrate AI into STEM education. A quantitative research design was employed, involving 203 undergraduate students from the University of Jambi and Universitas PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through SmartPLS 3.3 to identify direct and mediating relationships among variables. The findings revealed that performance expectancy significantly influenced students’ behavioral intentions, indicating that perceived usefulness of AI outweighs ease of use in determining adoption. Effort expectancy also had a substantial effect and mediated the relationship between performance expectancy and behavioral intentions, while social influence showed no significant impact. These results highlight that students’ engagement with AI in STEM learning is driven more by perceived academic and functional benefits than by peer or social reinforcement. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework with the STEM education context in developing countries, providing new empirical insights into AI adoption behavior. The study recommends designing AI-supported learning environments that emphasize practical benefits, user-friendly interfaces, and pedagogical integration to enhance students’ learning outcomes and technological readiness.
