Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the improvements of the ninth-grade students at MTs Unggulan Al-Jadid. This was an action research study with two cycles, and the research procedures were planning, action and observation, and reflection. The students from class 9-E at MTs Unggulan Al-Jadid in the academic year 2020/2021, with a total of 25 students chosen through a purposive sampling technique, and an English teacher, were the participants. The instruments were a field note and a test. The results revealed that the mean pre-test score was only 60.25 (pre-test), but it improved significantly from cycle I to cycle II (from 72.50 to 80.25). To highlight, at the beginning of this study (pre-research), the highest score was 70, and by the end of the study, it had improved to 78-92. Meanwhile, the participants with the lowest scores improved significantly on the post-test compared to the pre-test. The pre-test score ranged from 50 to 70, while the post-test score ranged from 70 to 74.

Abstract

An analysis of derivational and inflectional morpheme has great values because sometimes, learners face difficulties in understanding those morphemes. Dealing with this problem, this study was aimed to describe the types of derivational and inflectional morphemes. As this study analyzed the written documents, this study was identified as library research. Subjects of this study were five alumni of the master of English education study program of STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo. Documentation and the researcher himself were recognized as the instruments of this study. The data of this study were all words attached by derivational or inflectional morpheme, and all those data were taken from students’ research abstracts. In analyzing the data, the researcher used content analysis. The results showed that the researcher found and discussed two types of derivational morpheme namely derivational prefix (“-un” and “-in”) and derivational suffix (“-ion”, “-al”, “-ance”, “-er”, “-ive”, “-ity”, “-able”, “-ary”, and “-ly”). However, the researcher found and discussed 5 types of inflectional morpheme covering: plural (-s), possessive (-s’ or ‘s), present (-s or -es), past (-ed), and present participle (-ing).

Abstract

This study aims to develop anti-corruption learning using comics and posters in order to instill the values of honesty and simplicity in the students of Public Junior High School Six Malang. The Research and Development (R&D) approach was used throughout this entire study. The s The participants in this study were students at Public Junior High School Six Malang . As data collection techniques, questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation studies are used in this study, along with focus group discussions (FGD) and field notes/logbooks. The obtained data were descriptively and qualitatively analyzed. The study's findings indicate that teachers require alternative learning that can instill the values of integrity in students, as well as anti-corruption learning media that was developed in two stages (media development and material development) and has been validated to be used as an alternative learning to instill the values of integrity, particularly honesty and simplicity. According to Article 13 of Law Number 30 of 2002, one of the prevention efforts that the KPK can carry out is to organize anti-corruption education programs at all levels of education. The material assessment on the development of anti-corruption learning with comics and posters yielded an average percentage of 88%, while the media assessment yielded an average percentage of 84%, both of which were in the good category. A conclusion can be drawn that comics and posters can be used effectively

Abstract

Education is a crucial factor in determining whether or not character education is implemented. Character education is extremely important because, with character, humans will become noble and special beings when compared to other creatures, and even when compared to their fellow humans. Because of the critical importance of character education, the existence of character education methods and approaches is one of the role models to achieving an essential character both in attitude and action. Abstract

The goal of this study was to examine the correlation between the accuracy and acceptability or also readability of Google Translation’s (GT) English to Bahasa Indonesia translations of simple English sentences. This study applied a correlational quantitative research approach using survey research. The samples of this study included all students majoring in the English Language Education Study department of the fourth semester and used a purposive sample technique of around 35 students from STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo. The results showed 3 sentences rated ‘very accurate’ (6%). 29 sentences (58%) were deemed ‘accurate’. Then, 11 sentences were ‘less accurate’ (22%). Lastly, 7 sentences (14%) were deemed ‘not accurate’. Furthermore, based on the SPSS 26 results showed the positive constant value of 78.884 indicates positive effect of independent variable (GT translation). If the independent variable changes by one unit, so will the GT translation variable. If GT translation (X) rises by one unit, questionnaire results (Y) rise by 0.324, or 32.4%. Regarding to the findings, translation using GT through basic English sentences on selected reading texts utilized at STKIP PGRI Sidoarjo was mainly positive (64%). The investigation revealed a remarkable occurrence that GT’s translations were mostly accurate.

Abstract

Conflict management is an important skill that needs to be introduced from an early age to support children's social-emotional development. Early childhood is in a critical stage of character formation and interpersonal skills, so mastering conflict management can help them understand emotions, empathize and solve problems constructively. The family environment and formal education play a central role in forming this ability through support, guidance, and strengthening values ​​such as tolerance, cooperation, and communication. This research uses a literature study method to explore the importance of introducing conflict management for young children, as well as effective methods for teaching it. The findings show that methods such as role-play, simple conflict-based stories, and visual media are effective approaches in helping children understand and practice conflict management. This strategy not only supports children's social skills but also forms emotional control and strong moral values. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions in the form of a scientific basis regarding the importance of introducing conflict management, as well as practical benefits in the form of guidance for educators and parents in accompanying children. The research conclusion confirms that the introduction of conflict management from an early age contributes significantly to the formation of children's character who is empathetic, independent, and able to face interpersonal challenges in the future. Therefore, collaboration between families, educators and the child's social environment is the key to success in instilling these skills.

Abstract

The current study focuses on exploring students’ learning process and task management to obtain comprehensive learning outcomes. Not all students are able to focus and enjoy the learning process in Post-COVID-19 era, situating the changes on education system, interactions between students, and etc. Based on the preliminary research, 90% of Cipta Wacana Christian University students experienced feelings of boredom, stagnation, and stress during the online learning process. The current study aims to determine the influence of motivation, self-efficacy, and social relationships on academic achievement, recruiting 80 respondents as the sample of the study ranging to semesters 1 to 8. A quantitative study, piloting multiple correlation analysis techniques with the Spearman method were administered to explore the relationship between the various variables and gain a deeper understanding on how achievement motivation, self-efficacy and social support, affecting the students’ academic flow level. Furthermore, the study uncovered that self-efficacy and social support significantly contributed to academic flow. However, the achievement motivation variables (X1) and self-efficacy (X2) did not have any significant impact on academic flow (Y). Only the social support variable (X3) showed a significant influence, reflecting a novice and distinctive finding with the previous studies. The Beta coefficient for the achievement motivation variable contributed 22.2% to academic flow. It is lower than the Beta coefficient value for the self-efficacy variable (40.3%) and social support (72.3%). In a nutshell, the three independent variables had a positive direction on increasing achievement motivation, self-efficacy, and social support, contributing to increase the students’ academic flow.

Abstract

English plays an important role as international language among other languages. Speaking as one of important English skills is considered important to be taught. Speaking is skill that taught with other language skills. In fact, speaking is not an easy skill to be mastered. Most of junior high school students are unable to speak English well. One of alternative to help teacher to create natural communication is by using picture. The design of this research is classroom action research (CAR) which aims at solving problem experienced by classroom teacher to increase the students’ speaking ability by using describing as technique (Aqib 2006), as cited in research Clark (1972). This research has done in two cycles. The objective of this study is to describe how wholesome describing picture can improve speaking ability of seventh grade students in SMP Wahid Hasyim Malang. The researcher hopes that the result of this study useful either theoretically and practically to motivate students and teacher creative in learning process especially in speaking class. the teaching and learning process becomes much better. Before implementing picture technique the students have low self-esteem, fear of making mistakes, shyness and lack of motivation. After implementing the technique they feel confident, did not shy again, and talk with high voice. It also brings good impact on increasing the learning process and they can work as a group. The result on language function showed that in describing picture they speak with occasional hesitation, use adequate vocabulary, use comprehensible pronunciation, and use complex sentence in asking responding.

Abstract

Think-aloud is one of the transactional strategies that joint process of teachers and students working together to construct understandings of text as they interact with it. The aim of this thesis to investigate that do students who were taught by think aloud strategy has better achievement in the reading narrative text. Toward 23 total students of eight grade of Mts Al-azhar Malang, consist of 11 Males and 12 females of the sample, the researchers conduct the experiment research by distributing 20 pre and post questions of narrative text test. In finding, the mean of total reading test score of 23 students before being taught by using think aloud strategy is (55.43). After getting treatment, the mean score of students’ reading is (71.30). It means that the students’ score is improved. It means that there is significant effect before and after being taught using think aloud strategy toward students reading achievement of narrative text. Based on the result, it can be concluded that think aloud was effective strategy in teaching reading comprehension.

Abstract

Dikutip dari catatan tahun 2022 komisi nasional (KOMNAS) anti kekerasan pada perempuan Indonesia, dengan data sepanjang tahun 2021 kekerasan marital rape terindikasi tertinggi kedua sebanyak 25% dengan 597 kasus. Artikel ini membahas persoalan marital rape atau perkosaan dalam perkawina. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada artikel ini berupa penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis library research atau kepustakaan. Dengan pengambilan data sekunder berbahan primer yakni analisa pada UU No.23 2004 PKDRT dan UU No.12 2004 TPKS dan al-Qur’an. Hasil kajian analisa pada marital rape perspektif hukum positif Indonesia dan hukum Islam memberikan kesimpulan bahwasanya marital rape dalam hukum positif indonesia dilarang hal ini diatur pada pasal 5,8, dan 46 UU PKDRT, juga pada pasal 4huruf b dan pasal 6 huruf b UU TPKS. Marital rape menurut peneliti masih tidak dicermati dengan baik sebagai tindak pidana khusus (Lex Specialis) dalam pengaturan kekerasan seksual khususnya dalam ranah domestik. Kemudian marital rape juga bertentangan dengan ajaran Islam, hal ini dikarenakan konsep marital rape bertentangan dengan 3 konsep perkawinan yaitu an taradhin (saling ridha), mu’asyarah bil ma’ruf (memperlakukan dengan baik), dan ad-Dharar yuzal (kondisi bahaya harus dihilangkan) serta konsep maqashid syariah pada prinsip memelihara agama, jiwa, akal dan keturunan.
